and still nothing on the canadian site![]()

i just like this laptop cause you can get a nice i3 and a 5650 i am def putting this on my list if they come to america.
but anything over a i3 i dont expect it to have much of a battery life, plus tons of extra heat. -
I have a feeling it'll be hard to find a top spec'd 3820 in Canada. BB and Futureshop aren't exactly into variety, they either have the watered down $500-$600 notebooks or the MBPs/sonys. We'll most likely have to look for it online.
-
People still shop at BB and Futureshop for laptops :| lol.
I guess for the HP Envy since their the only place that has it. Otherwise, amazon/cc/newegg/ncix all the way. lol -
Found a product page for the UK. Not really any new info on though. Still core i3/intel hd.

Nice find Impruv!
If the Aspire 3820TG-624G64n would really cost around 1700 SGD, Im sold.
Though I dont see the point of selling 4Gbs of RAM with a 32 bit OS.
Fingers crossed! -
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/23/alienware-m11x-review/
One can see that an Alienware M11x scores 5593 in 3DMark06 while a Sony VAIO Z (2.53GHz Core i5, NVIDIA GT 330M) scores 6193, so that is a higher score with a weaker GFX. Once the GT 335M is matched with a better CPU, it might actually surpass the 5650.
However for me it makes little difference. To my knowledge the resolution on the Y460, M11x, 3820, CW is the same (not sure about the N82). So it all comes down to size, I think I will go insane from playing / using an 11" laptop for an extended period of time. I have a 14" laptop now and that is to big, so 13" seems like the way to go (I can live without the optical drive). -
I hope it is 64bit windows 7
-
Must be a typo..I guess

Nice find Impruv. Also, I can't imagine this unit being sold with a 32 bit system. -
That's the price after being lowered for students so expect more than that...

I wonder how this Acer will deal with heat issues.
The Y460 runs quite hot. -

I want the price of the i5-540m with 5650 !
-
this notebook is already out?
-
Not yet, but very very soon. The dates were posted a few pages back. Europe and Singapore [asia?] though...
NorthAmerica: no news yet. -
Hopefully we hear something soon, or else I'll have to settle for the y460
-
-
Seems like those who bought 3820TG on Singapore need to wait till April 12 to receive it =\

had a 4736z which seems to be a very solid laptop, liked the new keyboard layout. ugly design though
using a extensa 4630 right now, i practically abuse this laptop still works fine
basically i judge quality by the model and not by make. acer had bad laptops before, and so did every other brand out there, but that doesnt mean ALL their laptops are bad -
Even my Acer Aspire 5551 still running fine after 3.5 years
-
So how is their timeline series of models?
-
This laptop looks sweet. I assume with i5 this laptop will be under 1000$? Im debating between this and the asus ul30jt, whichever comes out first
-
Besides the updated components, would the chassis and dimensions be similiar to the Acer 3810? It's my impression that the 3810 was a well recieved laptop that most people liked.
So if this is the second generation of the 13'' Timeline, is it safe to assume that most of the bugs from the previous generation should have been ironed out by now? -
I guess it has two fan inside? Since there's two exhaust ventilations both on the left and right...
-
so what parts of this laptop are metal? i love laptops that have a solid feel to them and i really like having metal on it.
the pic gallery makes the palm rest area (whatever you call it) look metal in pic 5 but it looks plastic in pics 4 and 6. anyone shed some light on this? heres the pic gallery im talking about:
http://us.acer.com/timeline/gallery/gallery.html
and the top of the laptop (other side of the screen) is plastic right? with metal at the top?
not like this breaks the deal for me because the specs and price look absolutely amazing but i'd like to know. thanks -

Anyone have any guesses on when this thing might come overseas? -
-
-
only reviews will tell... but it seems to me so easy to design a heatsink... I dont know how manufactors have so much trobble.
-
Do you know any thermodynamics?
-
Advancements in are still being made too.

The palm rests appear to be brushed metal, but are also plastic.
BTW.. I love the little 1810TZ SU4100 picked up a couple months ago.
Can't wait for an i5 processor 11.6" update. -
-
Just got an email from Acer, for Malaysia, they would only bring 4820TG for the time being, by the end of April
-
Sigh, looks like won't reach North America till May or June... vaporware for now
Therefore I will have to look elsewhere for my laptop as I need it before May...alienware here I come! -
why is acer and asus teasing me?????????????
guess i'll just give my money to sony -
Another update is the 4820TG would be using i5-430M, Malaysian version
-
We jumped on early release information and transformed it into instant products.
I happened to watch the 11.6" 1810 series evolve from rumors into a very successful worldwide distribution. Took at least 6 months before most countries were selling most models. Even now, an 1810 with the SU9400 processor is only available in Canada, And it took a full year for the SU4100 and SU7300 models to be sold in Taiwan, Acer's home country.
So we won't know what or when or where models will be available until it happens.
All countries won't have all models ever. And if the 1410/1810 series is any indicator,
the US will not be the first in terms of availability for any of the variations
I think Acer starts-off new products in smaller markets, like Sweden, Norway, etc
where they can get feedback and have time to ramp-up production for
larger markets, like China, Japan, & the US.
