    Did you get this error?

Your credit card transaction has failed!

The authorization of the payment was unfortunately declined by the credit card issuing bank!

I guess I need to call my CC and have them authorize international charges?

That is exactly what I got and I have a corporate credit card so I know it should have been approved. If you go back and look at the payment options, it says that credit card is not permtted on a US purchase. It has only 2 options, one is prepay and the other looks like a wire transfer. The wire transfer section is all in German and says (translation comming) :D . The prepay has an out of country address for payment. I think this is a way to have the funds wired. It will have to wait till monday if that is the case. I will call American Express in the morning and see if we can pay in Euros on it.

I'll PM you if I find anything out. You may have just made my night. :p

Isn't AMEX open 24/7? You can call them now ;) :D.

I wonder if paypal would work? Just link your CC to your paypal.. Is this website legit though? Can anyone here vouch for the site?

I did call Amex and was on hold forever. I'll call in the morning. Never used paypal.

This is interesting.. I just called my CC company. They immediately notified me of a block on my credit card. Why? Because a transaction for the amount of $950ish was made at computeruniverse.net. They suspected fraud, but now the block is lifted.

So I guess my CC will go through now?

Where can support be recieved for products purchased outside of the United States or Canada?

Acer notebooks that are purchased in other regions throughout the world come standard with a one year International Travellers Warranty (ITW), and as such they can be supported or serviced by Acer America.

For other Acer products, however, support must be recieved by the Acer branch in the region in which the product was originially purchased.

Support for products purchased outside of United States or Canada

    Mine is ORDERED!!

American Express had a Fraud alert on my card as well. After waterboarding me for a few minutes they were convinced that I am me and they approved the transaction.

    Yea!

    Acer on its way.

I have email confirmation that they received my order. I'll hold my breath until it is put into DHL's hands.

EDIT: I just went on to computeruniverse.net, and oh SNAP! They have the ENVY 14! Sooo expensive though.

What was the total you payed for it, shipping + 3820tg?

btw, I thought you wanted the i7-620M, lol

I went to computeruniverse.net and found the 3820TG with the i5-430m/5650.
It's damn tempting. I'm skeptical of the warranty transfer, but we'll see how it works out for Bronsky and others that follow him to the end of the tunnel.

Price was $882.68 + $73.29 shipping. Order was confirmed received by CU. I'll believe it when I see a tracking number from DHL. @anycolor - I do want the I7-620M. That's why I had no problem ordering from Germany. I'm ordering a backlit keyboard and I7-620M CPU. As soon as I confirm that the TG is running correctly, surgery time. I'll probably put an SSD in at the same time.

I don't recommend anybody else doing this ATM. The keyboard is German and the power unit is the EU plug. I have to replace those no matter what. I want the backlit keyboard and the I7 (giving serious thought to the I5-540M instead-almost the same power and probably a lot less heat) so my warranty will last for a couple of days at best.

Glad to see the TimelineXs appearing on Amazon. It probably won't be long now. I just had to do this. I have been waiting since January.

I even think that it went cheaper than if ordered here within the EU, as you didn't pay the ~140€ VAT

since the 3820T is on amazon, do you think that would run Adobe CS4 okay?

I just need a laptop for july 10th for a trip, so I am thinking of ordering that and then returning it when i get back and buying the TG (Hopefully its available then). Amazon confirmed I can return any laptop within 30 days.

I think it will run it. I would guess it will load very slowly and the GPU accellerated functions will run slower. But I think it will be okay. If you can return it anyway, better to get it than not.

BTW, it is one of the programs (I think CS5) we run on our workstation and it is blazingly fast.

It'll depend on which programs and function you'd use. If you must know, my girlfriend used Photoshop just fine with a T2370 CPU + Savage S3 GPU on a crappy laptop.

Either way, if you can return it you might as well get it. That way it'll be like a test-drive before a real 3820TG :p.

I agree. Thank you Bronsky for doing such insanity, lol.

I would order from computeruniverse, but as you mentioned, it does not have a US keyboard, plus it has a EU plug.

btw, I translated the german site for the 3820tg, and in the reviews there is something that caught my attention:
    http://translate.googleusercontent....rhis33Nj0kqBxepunewlNJQ561zWSQ#InfoDataHeader

It says: " get used to keyboard - throttled PCI-Express connection," I have no idea what that is, anyone know?

ATI Catalyst Drivers 10.5 and up fixes the pci-e going into x1 mode.

Acer has already updated their site drivers to version 10.5. Catalyst 10.6 are already out, so you may use them as well as they seem to improve performance a bit.

Good for you Bronsky! I'm really glad you finally got a lappy. Just like you, I've been waiting wayyy back from the UL30VT-X1 days haha that was before christmas!

However, I did something a little different.

    I bought a macbook pro!

1250 - 100 dollars = 1150 because of the university student discount. Plus I got a free iPod (which is also part of the promotion) which I sold and made a 150 dollar profit.

In the end I got the new macbook pro, 13 inch, 4gb ddr3, 2.4 ghz dual core, for 1000 plus tax, which I thought was reasonable and I absolutely love it.

I hope this acer laptop turns out to be really great and I will be looking forward to see how it is now that it's close to launch in the US

Cyberport still has them in stock. Also, they're probably being replaced by models with the i5-450M CPU, as their price is exactly the same.

I contacted them also. I am trying to know how can i buy it without the VAT. Or if i can pay it and deduct it later on. Just waiting for the answer to pull the trigger :D

I also contacted Acer (again) to know if they had any information regarding configs or release date for the TimelineX series here in Portugal. On their site they only have i3+5470...

I received an email this morning that my order had been cancelled :( because the model I ordered (I5-430M) was no longer available. They must have run out of stock over the weekend. They have offered to replace that model with the I5-450M model for 6 Euros less. :) I just emailed them back and accepted the alternative. I would guess this is the replacement model.

    Acer Aspire 3820TG-5454G64nks W7HP64 - Notebooks - computeruniverse.net

    It's listed as "in stock".

This retailer also has the I7-620M version of the 4820TG with a factory 160GB SSD. Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG-624G16Mns - Notebooks - computeruniverse.net

I've asked if it is possible to expedite the shipping. If I can get this shipped FedEx or UPS, I could probably have it a week before I would get it with DHL. I'll let you know.

It's never over till it's over. I will believe that I am getting a 3820TG when it is in the hands of the delivery company and I have a projected delivery date.

To be able to order without paying VAT you'd need to be a business costumer, with a valid UST-ID.

If you know some business owner that doesn't mind to order one in your stead, ask him to ;)

I have little faith in Acer Iberica as for delivering the best TimelineX notebooks, at least during the next couple months.

Yeah, it's just as expected =).

I've decided to order a 4810TG with a 160GB SSD as I won't be needing any extra power during the next year, that way I can save some good bucks while waiting for fusion chips ^^.
It'll cost me less than 600€ with shipping already included, which is a steal since the SSD alone goes for 400€, rofl.

By the way, didn't those 4820TGs overheat? I haven't seen any review of "Il diavolo" models, but I think the 4820TGs were kinda hot (literally).

The 4810TG price is like buying an SSD and getting a notebook thrown in for free. :)

As far as the 4820TG/I7-620M, I would have to see some serious testing before I would order this. The 14 and 15" models don't have the dual cooling system of the 3820TG that makes it unique.

I would have ordered this a couple of weeks ago if I could have figured out how to navigate the German website. I kept trying to use the site calculator to see if it could be shipped to the US and all I had to do was click the product into the shopping cart first and then you can estimate shipping charges when you elect payment options.

The I5-430M model I ordered over the weekend was cancelled this morning because they are no out of stock. I sent an order back for the I5-450M and I'm waiting for confirmation. I'll belive it when i see the tracking number after the acer has shipped.

Congrats on the Sony Z12. Nice specs. Anybody know how many (+) hours between East Coast US and Germany. I know that we are +5 to GMT.

You're actually -5 to GMT, and -6 to Berlin time, which is +1 GMT.

I find it weird that what stopped you from browsing the German stores was actually the language :p. German isn't that much different from English, but even then google translate works pretty well :D .

I'll probably receive my SSD with a notebook attached by the end of this week, or beginning of the next one. Just waiting for a new e-mail invoice, as my friend wants one as well (might as well share the shipping costs then, hehe).

I used the google translator but I was using the wrong section on the website for trying to see where they ship. They had a separate section to calculate shipping costs, etc., but it covered EU countries only. It never dawned on me to just configure the unit and try to buy it out of the cart.

When I called, I think they were concerned about telling me it was ok to ship to the US without giving me the disclaimer about potential import duties, etc. We are a very provincial group here in the US :D . We don't do well with languages. The funny thing is that I was raised in an Italian neighborhood in Philadelphia where english was a second langauge. But, alas, it's all gone, I remember none of the language I grew up around. :(

I am Still waiting for the revised email-invoice so that I can rest easier. I asked them to look into UPS or FedEx second day air shipping. We'll see what they say. Once I know it is ordered, I can relax a bit and wait for it to get here. I'm finally starting to let myself get a bit excited.

    Bronsky

Haha, I see then. Well, you could've asked for help with browsing the stores, I have a knack with discovering stuff on websites as the logic part of my brain is quite developed  .

Also, I notice you're a bit like me, I too love the smell of fresh hardware incoming. I'm sure that if I was a millionaire my hobby would be configure and mod computers and computer parts, and probably sell them as new hardware launched :D .

Will be awaiting your order confirmation, and hope you'll do a review of what I think to be a great engineered laptop (very well designed interiors, despite the cheaper materials used).

I can see that the model computeruniverse has do not have a 3G card, but the one in cyberport does. Is this a typo? I thought that all the ones with i5-450M had the UMTS card built in...

EDIT: sorry, my mistake. The one with UMTS is 50€ more.

I know that this has been asked before, just don't know where. Is it possible to put a UMTS card in the models that don't have the the card originaly? Does the one you ordered, bronsky, have the card slot at least?
