So with the 270.61 drivers I was able to clock with fraps around 50-55 fps at high settings for the new game Brink. apparently this game simply doesn't work well for ATI users, so for once something good for me :)

Oh wow that's actually a lot better then i thought o__o
    It doesn't say which m14x, so i assume. . .base?. . Lols.
Unless it's max for it, but that's probably the game settings, but the description seems to differ.

the spec of the m14x that guy has playing brink is as follows

M14x, Soft Touch Black, I7-2630qm, Nvidia 555m GT 1.5, 4 GB Ram, 720p screen and the standard 500gb 7200 rpm hd.

brink looks great for the settings used.

Where is all the 3GB vs 1.5GB direct comparions? I would like to know for real if there is a difference in this machine. I have read all the theory but want to see what the difference is in reality!

Unfortunately these direct comparisons do not yet exist. We're still waiting for people to benchmark the machine.

The only comparisons we have are differences in VRAM for other GPUs.

My m14x doesnt come til tomorrow so I cant verify but you should be able to go into Nvidia control panel and set the WoW profile to use the 555. Just make sure that setting are set to use that profiles for each application and not controlled by the application.

    Ok i downloaded fraps

When playing battlefield bad company 2 maxed out with all settings on ( even AA x32 )

I get an average fps of about 25 fps
max fps of about 32-35 fps
lowest fps normally 22 fps but when i first jumped in a helicopter it went down to 20 fps but i never saw 20 fps again it was always 22-23 fps lowest

Hey guys good thread! Just wondering what the performance comparison would be when the m14x at 900p was compared to the m11x r3 (gt 540m) and its 720p screen.

Just as a follow-up from a few weeks back, with the latest Nvidia drivers and some launch options commands, i was able to get GTAIV running with the proper resolution and high textures. I will run the in-game benchmark test and post the results later, but that makes two titles that were fixed by simply updating the graphics drivers from stock to 270.61

In the videos on youtube Starcraft is played on a 720p screen at a 1366x768 native resolution.

So to improve your results you would lower the resolution, since I guess you're playing 1600x900. But the quality of a lower resolution on a 900p screen won't be the same of the same resolution on a 720p native screen.

    That's why I didn't upgrade the screen. :p

Yeah but the screen update is worth it, you get a bigger res that is really usefull if you use photoshop, or anything else because you'll have more space to work, I think the movies will have a better quality, the brightness is increased and for the games you can back to 720p to increase FPS. For 75$ the 900p really worth it.

One other thing any body played "bloodlines champions"? thinking of giving it go and just wanted some feed back. thanks again!

I've been playing a few games (like quake live and such) and I noticed that there appears to be some wierd framerate issue. Fraps shows it having 125 FPS, but I can't put my finger on it. Its like there is some sort of screen refresh/tearing issue. I wonder if perhaps this can be fixed by setting vertical sync or something. My refresh rate on the monitor is set to 60hz.

    Thoughts?

refresh rate being 60 does not mean the frames will sync with it. V sync synces frame rates with monitor refresh rate to prevent tearing but lowers frame rate under 60. So try turning vsync on it will help

Hi! i have a doubt im currently playing COD Modern Warfare 2 again....
    Waiting for MW3!!!! :D

My settings are like these: Modern Warfare 2
    1600x900
    Video: Extra
    Shadows: YES
    Bullet Impact: YES
    the rest is on NO.

While playing... for example shooting at different targets and moving the scope.. it appears like horizontal lines, but when i connect the m14x to an external monitor everything is ok.. no lines!!
display is working ok?? any comments... :)

It's called screen tearing and its a sync issue like the previous poster said. Should be an option under video settings for "vsync". Check that and all should be well!

I've been playing SC2 since it's release on a Macbook Pro; after playing it on my friend's new M14x, the graphics alone make it an entirely different game. Really a great computer.
