It gets a 7.9 gaming/graphics on the Windows Experience Index if anyone cares... previously only the 580M in SLI could do that :p

So did my 6990m A few Weeks ago when it died
Almost same symptoms as you are seeing nothing when booting up

I had some random success with removing card, running drive sweeper in safe mode, reboot without card, then shut down install card, and install drivers

I eventually had to send to Dell for gpu and motherboard replacement

3DMark06 is too old so I am not gonna bother with it.

A few pages back, someone had said that if NBR had 10 or more members buy a card from upgrade your laptop, they would offer an extended warranty. Has anyone heard anything else about that?

They got their Dell cards from a Table21 guy here. But he's already sold them all.

So only way is upgradeyourlaptop with clevo oem cards, dunno yet what type of memory they've used on their cards.

They have used Samsung memory in the past, probably same for their 7970Ms. Not sure yet, no-one has used one.

The heatsinks are the same as the 6970/6990 heatsinks. If you have an m18x R1, it should be pretty much plug and play.

I even have the driver they used for ES m18x R2 xfire 7970m testing. let me know if you need it and i'll put it up on mediafire for you

SlickDude, you have just installed those modded drivers when u plugged in your 7970m? No need to install dell native drivers first now because our IGP is off?

no...follow my 7970m install guide. The stock dell drivers will not install with the 7970m. IGP is temporarily disabled until we get official ENDURO support

You need modded drivers to work with this card. You install the modded drivers only...nothing else

just had a look at your guide - you have updated it, thanks. AMD's enduro would work with our IGP like now with 6990m? or it will work just by lowing core/memory clocks?

Uses more power at full load I believe since the card has a higher clock speeds. Temps will also go up though the 7970m seems to be running nice and cool. ;)

There should enough juice left on a 240w power limit to overclock these cards nicely.

The ram overclocking is a bit of a moot point because there is tons of bandwidth already. We need to pump the core clocks first.

Any idea how much it would typically go up @full load if the 7970M is rated @100W?

    >>> Slick, have you OC'ed and seen? :D

I'm not sure wonderpookie, as there is currently zero app or driver support for the card

I've tried many different ways to overclock this card but so far, i haven't been able to. WE will eventually get there though ;)

AMD's Vantage benchmark is 2k higher than ours because of all that extra bandwidth D= especially when it is PCI-Express 3.0 vs our 2.1? :(
Doesn't affect 3DMark11 or gaming though, just Vantage.

Sorry guys, I'm no expert with a hex editor and obviously RBE doesn't recognise it. I'll keep digging but it doesn't look hopeful my end.

Hopefully slv7 can shed some light on the matter.

The author of RBE has stated that the vbios in the 7900's are radically different and its not supported...which sucks. I really hope svl7 does see something...or we get overdrive in CCC so we can at least do a little overclocking.

THese are the pains of early adoption

    So... finally a VBIOS. :p
The structure does look quite a bit differently... I identified the clock domains and the voltage table.

Just to be sure, what are your 2d clocks, and what is the reported 2d voltage and 3d voltage?

Attached is a version with the 3d clocks set to 900/1250MHz, but I can't guarantee that it'll work. It would work for the 6000m series, but as you already heard, it seems AMD did some changes to the VBIOS of the 7000 series.
    Flash at your own risk.

Edit: Btw, did you guys already try the leaked 12.5 drivers?
