Actually that bit is true as far as I know. I averaged a few IQ tests to get a reliable score and I never scored lower than 140 in any of them. I am a musician as well so some potential isn't wasted. Plus I offer insight to the community for free so I can be wasting can I?

Haha no, I had the option to go to music college but I decided against it because I'm not a commitment person People thought I was going to go to Uni doing maths or computer science but I didn't really want to conform to stereotypes and I just didn't think it was right for me. I never really hung around with the Asian crews as it were lol. I did think about Cambridge or Oxford but i didn't think I would have enjoyed any of that. I'm studying Linguistics at the moment and going on to Journalism next year.

How will the warranty of our beast be affected by this hpu upgrade?

 

not at all, afaik. just that when ur newly swapped gpu fails, THAT wont be covered by the warranty anymore everything else that was already installed when purchased still is, tho.

I'd wager there are many here. Computer enthusiasts probably have a higher average intelligence just by the nature of the "sport", like athletes happen to naturally be "strong". A cheap easy way to find out your IQ is to cross reference your SAT score since it is also an IQ test. I take great pride in that my wife and I had the exact same SAT score despite the fact I barely graduated high school and she went to one of the best univerisities in the country. Still neither of us a true "genius", but we got close.

^^This is true, I recently wrote a paper to do with Literacies, New Literacies, Digital Literacies and Video Gaming, and their affect on thought and language. Was a very interesting pursuit and I concluded that many computer enthusiasts probably perform more intelligent thought processes during a few mins on their computer doing stuff they enjoy compared with their whole day at school or college.

A single 7970 has more raw power than SLI 670s? What about 675s? I really like how the Asus G75 looks but if the 7970 is that powerful ill be getting a M17x with one of those in it

 

PM the seller upgradeyourlaptop on ebay, they're selling them for 450 a pop when you preorder them 520 after it comes out!

 

If you clocked both of them then the 675s would edge it, but you would have more driver issues and the 675s would be consuming about 150W each, where as the 7970 would be consuming about 110-115W so almost a third of the power.

 

How much more expensive is the 7970M than the 675M?

 

Cheaper to buy by itself.

ive just popped in half way through this post but noticed that a fewpeople here already have their hands on some 7970m gpus are they already available in the states?
Im in Australia and none of the clevo resellers know for sure when they are available (they are guessing end of may early june) or how much they will be but i see in the states they already have the prices.

I think the word on the street D) is that you can order the cards individually through upgradeyourlaptop on eBay.

But you have to PM them about it. I think they are around $450 + Postage.

 

actually its 520 USD now, the 450 offer just lasted until yesterday

well yeah, as far as i know u have to pay extra for an x bracket, so i assume the card doesnt have one at stock ^^ but they do supply all the necessary parts, as needed

 

I paid $475 for mine and $50 UPS express international (2 day shipping from Canada to UK - sent Monday, arrived Wednesday). Best GPU purchase to date.

i am messed up... we have an x-bracket on our current cards, the question is can we reuse it or its better to get a new one

 

not sure about that but i mean its just 25 bucks,plus ull also get screws thatll definitely fit (trust me,finding screws is a "female dog" for a mobile gpu,been there before). if u ask me,thats deff worth my peace of mind

Yep, definitely worth it. I have a card, and an xbracket, but no screws currently, which means... I have a card, and an xbracket, and a laptop that can't use it until I get the right screws. lol
