yep, same goes for clevo laptops, just that u have to slightly adjust the vram pad placement

shipping date depends on when u place ur order. mine for example is may 6th, another guy who ordered 2 days after me got may 10th.

no worries mate, pretty soon the clevo / alienware forums will be overflooding with 7970M bench / spec / OC threads

How much more does the AMD 7970M cost than the Nvidia 675M?

The 7970m costs around the same. On the Dell site some places it is more, some less. However because it performs so much better than the 675m, technically it it is much cheaper.

 

On the UK site the 7970M is 41 pounds more than the 675M..

But on the US site, the 675M costs $150 more..

Dell need to sort their pricing out.

I can say that i did a price check on a store in Portugal that sells Clevo 7970m, and they were selling for 375€ + iva or USD 635, shipping in 3 to 4 weeks.

Im getting mine in mid august, when prices drop

 

The M17x R4 driver page is up, now with drivers, but nothing for the 7970M just yet.

 

^USD 635? Sounds like a big rip off for the card to me :/.

 

Guys this is the recent pricing as of 5/2/2012 from upgradeyourlaptop.

They gave this quote.

Total is 604 including shipping in conus. The package includes:

1x7970m
1x X-bracket with matching screws
1x sets of thermal pads for vram
1xtube of thermal paste diamond 7

If I order today I will be receiving it on may 15.

Guys I have few questions though. I dont think i need some of those. I already have thermal paste. can I use the stock pads of my 6990m? do I need that bracket? I think i only need the card and nothing else since I have 6990m.

GD, as soon as I list my stuff to make way for 7970's they jack up the price. I've never been fond of upgradeyourlaptop after the way they treated TurboTalon

That's the AMD backplate. Just re-use it.

I've always re-used the stock pads, since I haven't been able to find better.

 

then please do tell us what kinda pads those are that ure using geo

again: thats the whole kit including heatsink, TIM, x bracket, screws and shipping. the card itself is 520 USD which isnt all that expensive if u consider that the 485M / 580M still go for 800USD with heatsink on R&J Tech and around 700USD on ebay. 6990M goes for around 500USD with heatsink. if u count in the performance differences, the 7970M is actually dirt-cheap, no rip-off whatsoever just a sad fact that mobile gpus are waaaay more expensive than their desktop counterparts!

Interesting how come your quote on the same day is $50 US cheaper than mine and they said mine would ship on the 14th. This shop just isn't to be trusted with their pricing!

So depending on how they feel they might charge you $604 or $654 today. What will it be tomorrow $700? Everyone please take heed and be patient as this company simply wants to milk you for every penny you have and charge apparently on a whim...

Long, you should have asked Table to leave the backplate on, he did so with me.. anyway thank goodness you decided not to modify the 580m backplate as they are completely different, it would have come in touch with the circuit..

 

yeah he did say that he would ship the card with bracket included actually .

yeah I put off after I see so many tiny block got in the way of the bracket. And besides, it would not do if we have another case of mishandling.

European folks, if you can wait a little longer, Eurocom is going to sell from EU too (Czech Republic). Their website will be up in ~4 days available in five languages, they said. Hopefully their pricing will be fair.

Latest version of GPU-Z is up and supports the 7970M.

It would be nice if they could ship my card from the CR and help me avoid taxes.

I had a desktop with 2x570 SLI (heavily overclocked) with a 4.4ghz i7 970 hexa core CPU

I scored almost 50k in vantage. I wonder what 2x7970m's will do?

Wow, I can't believe I score 5900 3dmark11 with my 2x6970m at stock clock while you score almost the same with a single 7970m.

Can't wait for the 7970m to hit the m18x.

My card is the Dell card w/ Hynix Ram.

My M17x, I wasn't too fond of the build quality, ended up finding table's post about the 7970M working in the M15x, sold M17x, purchased M15x for CHEAP, so now I have a budget beast gaming PC, or will when I eventually upgrade the processor, and my screws come in for the 7970M.

Where I got it, unfortunately can't say flingin. But I am very thankful for them

I can purchase a 7970m for my r2 for $600 shipped, but I'd have to sell my 5870m's first to be able to afford it.

I'm hoping by this month at least.

Just a quick question though, can my R2 handle 7970m CF?

I should have bought it for $450, but I asked too late unfortunately. It's $79 shipping to Australia as well, so $600 smackaroos (slightly less in AUD).

 

Just got information from Czech Eurocom, estimated price is 578 euros calculated based on todays exchange rate ;-) hopefully final price will be lower ...

 

578€ for the card only? then i actually got away pretty cheap with 490€ for whole kit+TIM+shipping
