It's a bummer that the cards have been pushed back, but I know Dan, John and the rest of the Eurocom crew are doing what they can to get them to us.
I've had multiple emails answered from 10 this morning and 11:30 tonight by Dan which is reassuring.
Thanks again for the updates.

Hello Dan,
will you test the hd 7970m with clevo p170hm too?
Im very exited if that works!!! I´ve heard the Bios
of the P170hm is the problem with compatibility
to the new cards of AMD and Nvidia.
Is this right?
I would be so glad if i can upgrade my GTX 580m
to hd 7970m.A Reseller told me it`s not possible
-
The more the merrier man!
yeah i know the feeling, I try to occupy myself with other stuffs though, to lessen the pressure
Yup, thats the spirit. And i'm hoping you get news about your card too! It does often take a while for international USPS packages to update. So sit tight
. and i check table periodically also but isn't he in the military or something?
what jwimsett said, look at those benchs man and get pumped again!
yup, an ES/QS from table21. You can try pm him though i doubt he still has any.
thanks for the update and support from Eurocom! This should set some NBR members' minds at ease. -
So does anyone know if you can use two of these in the M17x r2?
And UpgradeYourLaptop.. it would have been fair to offer the standard $450 price since you haven't shipped them off. I would have bought it if I wasn't told literally a day later the prices were going up to $510, which didn't give me enough times to gather the funds required. -

Not sure about R2 compatibility yet, this is one of the reason we're wanting to do some extended testing. We're also going to test on the older HM series to see if it is compatible. Good practice is to ensure you've got the latest BIOS from Dell applied before you do any upgrades.
With regards to pre-order pricing, we had to have a cut off for pre-orders at some point so orders could begin to get organized. I'm sorry you weren't able to get your funds together in time.
We will be testing it in the HM series of notebooks. If they are compatible a BIOS update may be required. As we sold many of the P170HM we would very much like to be able to offer compatibility with this card. We're working closely with AMD on this, your patience is appreciated.
I will be on the road most of the day today but should have access to internet. My response time will be a bit delayed today but I am still in contact with the mothership in a regular basis. -

What drivers do you use during your testing phase? -
Hello Dan,
thank you for your quick answer!
So my hope for upgrade to hd 7970hm
still goes on.
Thank you so much!!! -
I do have the funds ready, and then the price went up, and hence my chances of buying them. Sad really
-
Hoping that a UK buddy hooks me up with a Dell QS. GeoCake, it's on!
-
I am actually quite scared.
-
Aw man don't be. You've been a great asset and the main reason why I wanted to get one
-
SlickDude80 Notebook Prophet
given your computers, you should get identical scores
-
Why bro??? don't worry about what happened to me, I think it was my mistake (or my mobo? this squeak that I have been getting is kinda got me confused, what if there is some electrical problem which fried my gpu??) I am sure your card will be fine for years to come
(doesn't mean you will use it that much though
)
-
Would the 7970m get a better score in a M17xr2 or M17xr3? And I'm way too scared to put the card in myself.. anyone know who (or where) to do it in Melbourne, Australia?
-
It will score better in the R3 given that the R3 is a sandy bridge. So 3DMark06 scores will be much better. In terms of GPU scores inf Vantage and 3DMark11 they should be close to the same. R3 just beats the R2 when it comes to CPU.
-
Yes it is true DR, 920/940xm will live for another 2-3 years i think
-
when we get our damn videocards -_-
-
I expected as much. Luckily, Gen 1 Intel cards have a better OC'ing capacity right? I forget these days, it's been far too long.
In fairness, if in my r2, I could upgrade to Sandy/Ivy Bridge. I would. Just because I like newer stuff. -
you can't bro, requires 75/77 chipset..
EDIT: sorry, you said if, didn't catch that
-
.. I know that
I was saying IF there was a way, I would have done it. -
just updated the post, read it after I posted
sorry bro!

Hello jubbing,
if you don´t know how to install the card just don´t do it!
It´s all on our own risk!Search somebody who is able to
install the card for you.
Before that let us wait what Dan from upgradeyourlaptop says
about possibility for upgrade in M17xr2 and for me Clevo P170hm!
I hope i can order the great HD 7970M soon

-

-

Benchmark the R2 with a pair of 7970s in 3dmark 11 extreme vs the R3 with a single card....
-
nah, he should install himself, being slow and careful is the only thing you need, all the info is ready online we have a ton of guides/videos ready, do it yourself and learn it, even if you kill one card, you will get invaluable knowledge..

As soon as we can possibly get them out to you, I know the wait has been long!
I have been on the road all day today and out of the office. I've sent emails to follow up and determine whether cards arrived on time and what progress was made today. I will update you all as soon as I have information.
There was an earlier question as to what drivers we'll be using as well. I'm not sure, I've sent an email to the technical team to find out. Given that there's currently no drivers out for public use yet, I suspect(personal opinion - not fact) that they're either shipping drivers or AMD beta. I'll let you guys know.
Thanks for your patience NBR, I know you're all eager to get the cards you've ordered! -
Have you already tested them on m17x R3? How much to wait (aprox) ?
-
that's cold. But I would say no pain no gain!

If we could get a link to any drivers with the cards when we get them that would be awesome. -
Thats the spirit!
-
lol haha, we'll see!
-

Still no news from eurocom?
And any thoughts about official support for 7970m (drivers, working enduro)?
-
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1910579&p=-1&#bottom
Jack from LBO says Enduro is working in their test card on a P150EM.
Hoping zero core also works; and Eurocom has some drivers up that say they support the new AMD cards. -
Thanks for the info, so if i understand correctly - enduro depends on official working drivers?
-
it depends both on drivers and the hardware supporting it,just like with optimus. thus, clevo EM series will support it, whereas HM series wont, for example.
cheers

So far been able to sell off about $500 worth of stuff in my effort to raise funds for 7970 crossfire. Now I just need my GPU's (6990's and 5870s) to sell and I'll be in business. I have them listed on eBay for $420 buy it now, which I know is high, but from what I've seen in completed listings, they've sold for more. Just wondering if I'd have better luck at $400. Once those sell and funds become available (stupid ebay
) then I'll make my purchase
-
You could buy one 7970m and add another later on couldn't you!?
-
Do you have a modded PSU DR? I'm still waiting on someone's single 7970 config in a R2, xfire would be MINDBLOWING!
-
Hi Guys
Those any body knows were can i get some info in Game Fraps with one AMD 7970m on Ultra?
Metro ?
Skrim?
Crisys?
I been looking every were with no results thanks!!!!! -
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
I couldn't sell mine for over 400. It took 2 relistings to sell it, and it sold below 350 w/o heatsink. -
I think the best bet is to ask SlickDude and co. In fact, I think Slick did in fact post some numbers regarding at least one of those games in a previous post. Perhaps if you ask him, he'd be nice enough to post them again!
-
But then I pay shipping twice
I don't have a modded PSU. Just the standard 240W. I'll probably undervolt the 7970 when RBE and ATIFlash are compatible with it.
I have them listed in the Marketplace for $365. Ebay I have the option to make an offer. Currently two individuals are watching. I'm thinking tonight I may revise it to about $400 Buy-it-now and see if they bite. These cards are Clevo cards so they will work in the M17x R2 like stock, or in the Clevo and Sager systems. So I'm hoping someone bites. I really want to see how the 7970's do in terms of points per day at Folding@home. The 6990s were good for about 5K PPD. I just hate how ebay holds the funds when you sell an item. That may delay my ordering the 7970's a few weeks. And I hate ebay fees
AMD 7970m available for buy
