Hi, does anybody received their purchase 7970m from upgrade your laptop? Or all of you already cancel and ask for refund? Believe or not, mine still have not received. This week is the last to wait for me anyway...

I did, they told me they will ship it at the end of the week.....previous week

 

I asked them on ebay and they never responded. I doubt they are shipping. I was going to wait for them, but I'm done waiting. Maybe in the future I'll get some but as of now I'm going to pass. They don't seem to want to do anything other then make empty promises.

 

Called to eurocom just now, Mr John Shore is on holiday ....
But at least i know they dont have the cards yet, and they are expecting to get them this week, ....again.....again......again....., since i am waiting from April, i think i'll just stick to my decision on wait until it finaly finds it's way to eurocoms factory and then to me.....to me....TO ME, COMON, COMON !!! ARGGHHHH!!!

We have a hired a firmware engineer to assist with the modifications, he believes he has found a solution and we are in the final stages of testing. It was $564.99, used part number 747M2. Shows on on the invoice as
"Card,Graphics,AMD WIMBLEDON XT".

 

im in the same boat with you, they just shipped mine as well. Im pretty excited! Just wish it didnt take 2 weeks to get mail out here in okinawa.

look under slicksdudes 7970m installation guide and the drivers to be used should be listed somewhere in there.

Edit: here is the guide, go to step 9 and use the drivers listed there and you should be good to go.

Yeah i saw that driver.. So those are the latest one that work?

EDIT: can I first, uninstall all AMD Drivers,run driver sweper and shutdown. then remove the old and change to shinning 7970m and boot again?
then install the driver?
Can it wotk? and why woudnt it work?

Yup that's how I would do it. Do you have the modded bios installed though so you can turn off the intel card?

 

i tried before .. but after i have speaker problem, i change back to latest A10.. because i just want to make sure the dell tech does not have issue checking my laptop.. but is it necessary to turn off the igp?

Since 680m is a long wait to get to private hands, i am re-stocking 7970m cards.
I have ordered 3 7970m 2gb cards from TSMC this week (they are dell oem cards). Depends on shipping and custom delay, i should receive them in the next 10-14days.

 

Does the 7970M from Eurocom work in the R3? Also I assume I would have to get a new heatsink. Where can you get those? I currently have the GTX580M.

 

Yes you would need a new heatsink. Eurocom should sell those as well, as well as any thermal pads you might need

 

Eurocom (upgradeyourlaptop) doesn't sell anything, they take money. Last I heard it was a week (8th week in a row) that they would start shipping...I'm just sayin...

 

I think they finally started shipping cards. But I have to agree with you that an 8 week wait after the guaranteed ship date is pretty ridiculous.

 

My card was finally shipped. While happy to hear that its finally out the door, I won't be doing business with Eurocom again. I can understand delays in shipments and the reasons behind them, but the lack of communication throughout the entire order process was disgusting.

 

Making money from interest will all that cash in the bank.

 

How much for a 7970m. Website says $560 the quote me $575.

 

ok so now ive tried for almost three weeks to get mythlogic to send me an invoice and finalize my order for the 7970M but apparently theyre not interested in my money anyways, i switched over to R&J Tech, placed my order and finalized it right away through their website and DONE DONE DONE. paying an extra 50-60€ for that order compared to myth´s quote but well, at least its actually happening cant wait!

It seems to be a common occurrence with these companies not wanting our money (PCspecialist is a good example). I thought with times being so difficult, business would do all they could to grab any custom they can get but I guess I was wrong.

I am considering getting the GTX 680M from RJ Tech but that depends on shipping cost. USD > GBP usually allows me to save a bit and I am fed up of being limited to the Vbios flashed 7970M.

If this custom Vbios was released, I could buy the damn 7970M anywhere and not concern myself with this nonsense!

You are lucky in the sense that the P150HM does not need a custom flashed Vbios for the 7970M.

 

oh but it does need the modded vbios! just lucky that R&J actually offers a separate online option for the P150HM only difference to the P170HM is that it doesnt matter what kinda screen model i have, itll work in any case with the modded vbios.
but yeah, it´s about time someone gets their hands on that vbios and makes it public! ill definitely do that if nobody else has already once i get my card

 

How comes they don't have a P170HM menu I wonder. If the one you purchased has the custom Bios shouldn't it be suitable for my P170HM then?

Or maybe the heatsink is a different size. I will contact them.

 

i guess its cuz of the whole screen model compatibility thingy. only certain P170HM models work with the 7970M, so it would be too much hassle for them to offer a general P170HM option? thats my guess at least, no idea... keep us updated if u get any new info

 

I contacted them with the same theory in mind. Hopefully, since my non standard screen has been confirmed compatible, I will be able to order the GPU at my own risk, so to speak. I will keep you guys updated if I hear any details.

 

has any HM user out there gotten a nextgen card installed yet btw? i mean its already been quite a while since the 7970m has been confirmed to work and seeing that the 680m is already available at several places it should be about time! soooo....anyone? show urself!

I received a response from RJTech and this is pretty much the reason why the 7970M is not listed for the P170HM. If a user is certain they have a compatible rig then I see no reason why they couldn't make an order. They mentioned that with the P150HM, the 7970M only requires a Vbios flash to work.

So for anyone looking to get a 7970M with the Vbios already flashed, RJTech seems to be the place to go. I don't know if the heatsinks are the same size for the P150HM and the P170HM though..

 

According to RJ Tech, for 170Hm with compatible screen order 170EM. Both models have the same heatsink.

Iam debatting with RJTech a international/europe order without money transfer but using credit card/paypal. No luck.

 

well one could just order the modded vbios card with a P170EM heatsink, that definitely fits in the P170HM
