Hey guys, new to the forum etc but just got an M17x myself and looking for a bag and came across this discussion- read around quite a bit about all of the different bags/cases that can fit the m17x and the field seems unbelievably small, and all the bags seem quite expensive.

As far as I can tell, the only bags that can fit this laptop are:

    1) Booq Slimcase XXL (not enough storage IMO from the pictures i've seen)
    2) Booq Python XL (waaaay too expensive and over the top)
    3) Slappa Velocity Matrix Pro (am quite tempted by this)
    4) Alienware Orion messenger/backpack (bit plain looking and over-priced IMO)
    5) Some Toshiba one that I have forgotten the name of

Are there any other glaringly obvious ones that I have missed off and should check out?

I am currently considering the Slappa Velocity Matrix Pro as out of all the one's I've seen I think it looks the best in terms of practicality/price/aesthetics. This may sound like a silly question, but will the m17x fit into the Velocity Spyder Pro? They look practically identical but I want to make sure before I buy! I have the laptop in lunar silver so I quite like the idea of a graphite spyder pro to compliment it.

All I have to do next is to decide whether to go with the Razer Mamba or the Sidewinder X8 lol..... I shouldn't stray too far off topic I suppose, but if anyone has either of those mice or any other good suggestions please PM me!

Matt, the spyder will fit it, same exact dimesnions if I am not mistaken. Second, go to targus.com, many of their 17 inch laptop backpacks will fit it. I think about 4-6 on there will fit it. Booq are too expensive, for me at least. Slapaa velocity is quite nice, i recommend any slappa product thus far. Came with 2 free ipod mini covers..2 something covers..likea blackberry or a phone. And a draw string bag.. They like giving free stuff, and the bag is quality. Targus citygear you can find at best buy, fits the m17x very well. Along with other targus, remember to look around at dimensions before you buy.

I think i'm going to go with Clauss's suggestion and get the Slappa one...Matrix something blah blah..

just checked - they got multiple shipping options and NO $220 shipping option. expedited intl fedex is only $60 or so, rather than the whopping $220 Booq for some reason thinks they can charge.

Thanks for the heads up Clauss...

it would be nice to see some pics of the insides with the M17x in + whatever other features the bag has :) nudge nudge

Clauss, does the M17x fit completely inside, as in the corners aren't sticking out and the bag closes easily? I've got the Swiss Gear Pegasus and mine takes a lot of pushing and stretching to even get it in the laptop spot, and then I have to pull the zippers over the corners so they won't get scratched.

Im also wondering if the M17x fits completely into the slappa bag.

Im not interested in a bag that takes alot of pulling and forcing personally.

The slappa bag is the only bag that advertises water resistant padding aswell.

It fits completely as I can recall. I'll go try it out again, it fits fully in, trust me, the laptop compartment flap comes over and there is no trouble with it

Man I really want the slappa matrix backpack but they don't know when they're going to get new stock in :( Could order from the US site but it's more expensive. Other retailers have it but you don't get the warranty unless it's from official resellers which are mainly US I think too

I believe the whole velocity line are the same design and size?

you could just grab the spyder from the uk.

i think this is the case anyway?

Yeah the spyder backs are the same as velocity 17 inch matrix. They all look great, the matrix is a very nice bag. You will be happy when you get it, also random free stuff comes with it.

Anyone get/try the Belkin Energy Slim backpack yet? I linked it a few pages back.

It looks pretty sweet but I haven't had a chance to get one yet. Just want to know if it fits (even a tight fit would be good with me).

Well, not exactly. I am ready to order it yes. I am just waiting for one email to come back confirming that it will fit the M17x. The one I posted a few pages back was the 15.6 version (pink too) that I got for my wife. It's an awesome bag.

If the M17x fits, that will be my choice.

For some reason I did find that funny. Maybe it was ridiculous, and therefore funny.

Oh I will post pics once I order it for sure. I need to know it will fit perfectly first. The other one I posted fitted a 15.6" nicely. Not a tight fit, just nice and comfortable. Hoping it's the same with this animal.

Having the alienware badge on it puts me off (aswell as the very rubbery looking front of it) as it makes it slightly more likely it'll be stolen. Of course that's only if you're not careful. But hell if it's free woohoo

I just really like the brand. I have the Mobile Edge Premium Backpack right now and it is awesome. After 3 years of use it still looks brand new (and I have taken it cross country a few times now)

They are an excellent brand. And reasonably prices from what I have seen.

SO Jubal when is your m17x coming? It's worth the wait :D

Also the velocity slappa backpack is phenomenal For carrying the m17x. Still heavy but makes it nice and easy, and looks good. Also other room for books/notebooks.

Clauss: If FedEx's estimate is correct, my M17x should be arriving tomorrow! I'm glad to hear the Matrix fits well, mine is sitting here lonely and empty.

That is what I am trying to figure out haha. I am pretty sure that the Premium Backpack that I have can take an M17x as it holds my whitebook (M17) fine and has some room to spare (enough to allow for the marginally larger size).

You never know now-a-days, anyway whats the verdict on this almighty backpack. I'm not into the slappa, imo looks a lil too kiddish for me. I love the design of the python but i'm not gonna spend that kinda money. I need something that i can shove alot of crap into for an overnight bag, keep the m17x safe and sound and look somewhat sophiticated. oh and it must be a backpack. See the headache

I still have to decide between messenger bag or backpack (I'm amazingly indecisive, took me a month to choose black over silver......dont judge me xD)..and of course I've put thought into weight, comfort, and size..

..but now I'm thinking about which would be dominant in style.. decisions shouldn't be this hard to make xD

exactly, I am getting the bag to be good for what it does, not to be stylish (but that is just me) also, messenger bags are easier to have stolen/slashed just like purses

    haha

I was just citing how often purses and the like get stolen in places like Europe, people drive by on a bike, slash the strap, and flee with the bag, messenger bags are susceptible to this as well where a backpack is not

I also immensely prefer a backpack, it is balanced and more ergonomic for humans if there is ANY wait being carried
