I just received my alienware backpack yesterday and it looks great, feels solid and fits perfectly on my back. If i would just have the m17x that would be great
-
Just bought the Targus city gear, hopefully it lasts a while, we'll see

Hey guys been reading this thread for a while now trying to figure out what bag to get for my monster. The bag I decided on had not been mentioned yet but I do thank you guys for pointing me to slappa! I went with their hard sided case.
HardBody Pro 17inch
I will post pics when I can. I will say that the laptop fit perfectly with space to spare and the equipment I carry fit well in the pockets.

That looks pretty sharp, let us know what you think of it!

well I now have the Orion Backpack and the M17x (got Dell to send me the bag free!
)
It fits the laptop great but not much room for other stuff (books and binders)
So for a dedicated laptop bag, the Orion is great, for School/Work use the Mobile Edge Premium Backpack is the winner -
I've been following this thread for a while. Thanks for all the info and options posted. After following the links posted, I ran across the Axio Hybrid XL backpack. I bought it today from TigerDirect for $126.98 ($2 s/h and -$5 for Google Checkout).
This bag also appears to fulfill another nice-to-have feature for me which is TSA CheckPoint friendly. The zippers go all the way down so the bag can be laid open and flat with some modification.
So, if it 1) fits the M17X, 2) lays flat on the checkpoint belt, and 3) fits underneath an airplane seat, this bag will be perfect. I will post pictures when I get it.

I've looked into the Hybrid XL as well because it's a very nice bag but I'm doubtful the M17x will fit inside it. Good luck with it and let us know if it works out.

I'm liking the Swissgear Pegasus. I might buy it soon. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about it?
-
Pegasus will work, but its going to be tight. I think someone has this bag on the forum and posted pics. I just bought the swissgear ibex off amazon for 75 bucks total. I love the bag. Zippers are extremely smooth and the laptop fits in the bag perfectly. Its a little tight, but I can probably fit 3 laptops in this bag (Only one m17x tho). The only drawback is that it doesn't fit into the "laptop sleeve", but it doesn't matter. The bag is huge and you can easily carry books accessories and whatever else. The bag can also be used for a weekend getaway too.
-
Ok cool thanks for the advice
-
It's out of stock for a long time now. If I get it, I will post some Pic's directly. So far as I figured its the most practical backpack for the M17x.
-
Can you order from Amazon?
They have the Belkin Energy's in stock.... -
So I'm looking for a bag that can hold an M17x and about 4 large textbooks, it has to look good and not be ridiculously expensive.
Any ideas?
-
I will be taking it on the road this coming week to verify that it fits underneath a plane seat. I don't think it will be much of an issue.
LIKES so far: Very comfortable fit on my back. Much better than my Swiss Gear packs. Very high quality. Tons of room for my junk. Could easily fit another 15" laptop or 2. Handy iPod pocket on strap. 3 hidden smaller pockets accessible from outside the pack.
DISLIKES so far: The pen holders are unable to fit more than a Bic or mechanical pencil. The card slots are too shallow. Not as many handy pockets as a Swiss Gear. The 2 large pockets in the front compartment are gaping open. I'll need a couple smaller cases to organize my gear in there. -
But there's a Dutch saying that goes; "Never look into the mouth of a given horse". So I will just wait a little longer. -
I'll be waiting for some picks ThaDutchy!
That's right. I still haven't purchased the bag. I want some pics. Also would be nice if you took a picture wearing it. I wanted to see how much bigger it is from the 15in one that my wife has. -

We Americans are a very young culture.
I believe the way dutchy said it is most likely the correct way -
"Men mag een gegeven paard niet in de bek kijken".
"People may a given horse not into the mouth look".
So far for the Yodaish... So I made a free translation.
But if asking the saying should be:
"People may not look into the mouth of a given horse".
The bottom line of the saying is; you should not complain about something when it's for free. So I don't.
@WaR, If I finaly get it I will make some Pictures. I do not know anything about it yet, so I'll keep you updated. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
in america it is:
"Never look a gift-horse in the mouth" - at least that is what I have heard all my life
And speaking of free, my Orion backpack i got free has been working great so far, but only as a laptop bag, to small for school use (laptop+books+binder) -
I am really liking that Axio Backpack, I fly at least 4-6 times a month and if the airport security function really works on it, that would be a huge advantage.
-
Anyways I like the Orion backpack, the onlything I'am having troubles with, is the fact it clearly seems to be a laptop bag, thus theft sensitive. And the fact that I couldn't get it from DELL. For the rest i think it's really nice!
-
Guess I will go ahead and order it, I have like 5 bags already LOL.

Is there a decent Messenger bag that fits the M17x well? I bought one from Tiger Direct and it was a really nice bag, but it didn't fit
. I would prefer not to buy the Orion bag simply because I don't want Alienware advertised on the outside..
I would only use it to carry the laptop, power adapter, mouse, keyboard etc. No books or anything big. I have a budget of ~$80, let me know if there is anything.
-
Check out Timbuk2.
They make really nice messenger bags and they have a TON to choose from. -
. I'm really just looking for something cheap, won't be using it daily..only when I go to friends' houses or other places where I only need my laptop.

I broke down and bought the Orion Messenger bag yesterday and the ETA was Sept 9th but it actually got here today!! Next day shipping is quite nice. Anyways I really like the bag (aside from the Alienhead on the side). It is more than big enough for all the stuff I need to carry, and the pockets are actually big enough that you can put stuff it
. I had a bag before that had really flat pockets so putting stuff in them was a bit tricky.
EDIT: Ordered it from Dell - it was on sale for $80 with free shipping. Cost me $90 with taxes. Pretty decent I thought.
-
I ordered the Targus XL from Newegg... Looks like plenty of room and was only 57 bucks.
-
For those looking for a more business look there's the THC-218 from Case Logic: http://www.amazon.com/Caselogic-TNC-218-18-Inch-Laptop-Briefcase/dp/B001T0HFNA

I stupidly didn't get a back pack when i ordered my alienware, now looking at the Belkin 17" Messenger Bag:

Any thoughts? -

Has anyone tried the Booq Boa 3L by chance??

Thought I would chime in. I got the Axio Hybrid XL for my M17x and LOVE IT.
I have had 17 inch laptops in the past, none weighing as much as the M17x. One of the things I always hated about them was lugging them around, especially at a airport. Shoulder bags or backpacks have always hurt my back after 10 min(im tall but skinny). This backpack is great. It is very well designed in terms of ergonomics. Granted it IS very big, but it only weighs like 3 and a half pounds. The chest strap really helps...yes it looks like your going camping, but it makes carrying around the beast comfortable.
I had the M17x, adapter, mousepad, mouse, earbuds, 3.5 inch external drive, a pair of size 12 sneakers, shorts and a t-shirt shoved in there and it all fit.
I don't usually rave about accessories but I think this is the best piece of any kind of "luggage" I have ever bought. -
I got the Boa slimcase XXL http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Boa/Boa-slimcase-XXL Its nice for short trips or daily office visits. The M17X fits perfect.
-
I got my Targus XL last night. I LOVE it! It has enough room for my laptop, power brick, Zune, a CD wallet for 200 CDs, all my USB cables, my Saitek Dpad controller, my Razer gaming mouse, and it still has a lot of room to spare. I honestly could probably put another M17x in there.
-
Hey Darkhan, do you have any pics with the M17X in that slimcase? is there much room in it for anything else?
-
Personally waiting for that amazing Zerg bag to become available from Razer xD
