I am away till Monday for work. I can post them Monday. There is ample room with the M17x inside, you can carry mouse and a few books or headsets, its got very nice magnetic pockets.

Can I confirm that the Booq Boa 3L will fit the M17x. I have seen questions been asked if it will fit but no definitive responses as yet (or I may have missed it lol).

    Thanks a lot.

officially the M17x is 15.98" x 12.65" x 2.11" so you going have to squish in the last 0.3 and another 0.65 inches.

I actually found that the wife's old JanSport works perfectly for the M17x. Granted it's not as good in the protection department, but it's free :)

Well after reading every page of this, yes EVERY page! I am still no closer to finding a bag for my m17x which is promised to be delivered on or before 21/10/09 for which this date cannot come quick enough!

I have got it down to a couple:

SLAPPA Hard Body Pro but cant find a 17" in the UK.
BELKIN 17" Messenger but cant find any pictures of its interior or dimensions.
    SLAPPA Velocity Spyder.

Am I neglecting any that I should be considering?
I am in no immediate rush to buy one but need to get the right one for when the laptop arrives. Ive bought my ROCCAT Kone ready so now need the bag.
The bag will only carry the laptop, charger, mouse, external hdd sometimes, couple of pens maybe ipod. A documents holder might be beneficial but not crucial.

    Thanks
    Stu

I just bought one of these too which seems like a good idea for putting in whichever bag you buy. got one for £6.50 from ebay although they are more expensive from the direct site which is strange but we will see. Ill let you know what its like when it gets here.
It does come with the cloverleaf adapter too.
Am just trawling for the best price on the HardBody Pro Slappa bag and will review it with pictures of the behemoth m17x inside when it finally arrives..

Just got the Orion backpack today. I cant say I really care for it too much really is too bad because I had high hopes. The build quality is not too good and it really looks cheap to me. I might try the Mobile Edge Premium backpack that scook9 likes so much. Any other suggestions? I want something that will do a good job protecting my laptop.

If I'm not mistaken, the AW Orion backpack is made by MobileEdge. I currently have the Orion Messenger and its working out well. I do have the older version (circa Dell XPS M1710) of the MobileEdge Premium and I loved it. The M17x doesn't fit in it though.

I don't really get it, why is the exterior smaller? Is there a typo made here?
    Exterior: 51 x 14 x 16
    Notebook Compartment: 40.5 x 31.5 x 3.5

But I do think the M17x will fit in there! It kinda looks like de Dunne, which i made a review about.

So if it fit you'd still buy it knowing that it's made from the tears (& tires) of poor downtrodden Colombians?

Not to mention it also makes you look like a mutant pill bug.

Actually.. yes, I wouldn't mind taking their tears..would make me stronger. I don't mind the recycled factor either xD
Interesting choice of materials for a backpack too, I'd definitely want to try it out.

And yea it does look like a pill bug now that you pointed it out, but I wouldn't care..it's very unique, and somewhat fearsome looking, in a stylish 'sonic the hedgehog' kind of way

For the people that got the Ballistix AURA Black Laptop Shoulder Bag do they hold up well over time? or do they start to fall apart? Im looken at buying one in the next week or so but dont really feel like spending amost $250 on a bag that will fall apart after a few months.

The XPS M1730 Dell backpack will hold the M17x without issue. It fits nicely in the laptop compartment of the backpack and there is massive room for everything else. My only complaint about this backpack is the same as it was when I first received it for use with my M1730, its GIGANTIC. Seriously, it is huge. Take a look at this reference pic - source: Google Search

If you want, I'll take a couple of pics with it loaded (using the M17x of course) and post.

The XPS M1730 bag is great if you are going on an extended trip - for casual everyday transport I rely on the Orion Messenger Bag. More than likely going to the Orion Backpack though.

For 20 bucks, I would snatch it up - it will hold everything you need.

A previous commenter was tlking about getting the Oakley Kitchen sink, I have had this bag for over a year and sadly, the M1730 just baely fit the pocket and I had to use the main compartment.

    This causes two problems:

    1. no padding.
    2. the zipper heads scratch the sides of the laptop when placing or removing the laptop.

Now, with the m17x, there is no chance of fitting it in the pocket and I have ordered an AW Orion messenger bag. I will resort to the Oakley If I have a need for it due to the fact that I am an Oakley freak.

Is there a padded sleeve for the laptop in the M1730 backpack, from the pictures it just looks as if there is just a big open compartment. Am I wrong, is there decent padding?

I think it was Morgoth who is still using the Odyssey backpack who said that it fits the M17x well. Any add'l input from others who still use the Odyssey, or Morgoth, if you're still around, can you fit the M17x into the sleeve or does it have to go in the main area?

One thing I'm happy about is the "Honey I shrunk the power brick" for the M17x. The one I use for the m7700a Aurora should be registered as a lethal weapon.
