A couple of them on Friday claimed there's had shipped. Still no word from them.

 

It will be interesting to see since it was phone orders. I hope they do get the right cards.

 

Ya, my status changed to shipped then. It has only been 1 business day though. Hopefully it will be delivered before I get home thursday.

 

We are waiting for benchmark and FPS on major games... Come on guys, who will be the first one?

 

Looks like 8 GB of ram is standard right now on the M17x-R2 at Dell Home with the pre-configured special and instant 300 off.

 

I just called Dell about my 6/23/2010 EDD b/c the site said 6/11/2010 last night and I was gonna try and work them for some freebies... I ordered on 5/17/2010 btw. The guy I spoke with laughed and said sir your order has already been invoiced and shipped and told me in 24hrs I should be receiving an update on the status with courier information updated. If he is telling the truth then with nbd ship i should be getting it tomo? or maybe wed!!!! Now i'm stoked and am going to be watching the window like a dog watches for the mail man! I've been waiting about 6 months for a successor to my Gateway P series laptop ans I sure have missed the 17" screen...

 

That is definitely going to be a huge upgrade compared to your Gateway... (They still make computers??? )

 

The laptop I have been using for the past 5 years is running on an athlon 3400+ lol. Oh, and a gig of ram. I am so ready for an upgrade!

 

The M17x is going to be a huge upgrade for you, it should blow your mind Before I got an Alienware or even a new modern notebook, I was using a cheap HP Tx2000z notebook during med school--talk about zero gaming performance! After that came a bunch of notebooks within the span of a year: Dell Studio XPS 16, HP dv7, Asus G51, AW M15x, and now M17x.

 

Isn't it crazy what can be purchased after college Joker? I thought I was a big tech spender during college but after... OMG!!!

@ Joe - Are you going to be running 4gigs of HyperX in your system? It's a shame they can't put HyperX in 4gig dimms

Yeah, 4gb of HyperX is enough so far on my R1. I am sure I'll be able to buy 4gb dimms by the end of the summer but I am not sure I actually need it...

The kingston RAM is in my R1 right now, I will just put the original memory back in once the R2 comes.

 

Are you selling or returning the R1?

Man I hope my M17x ships earlier than expected. I ordered mine a day after you and got an EDD of 06/23/10. I check every day hoping that it makes it here early

 

I figured I'd make my first post after lurking since around December. After reading about the off and on problems people have encountered with the R1 and R2, not to mention wanting to wait for the 5870CF for the DX11 and a bit more out of a card(I'm using an HP zv6270us, old and long since optimal), I figured I'd wait it out to see the performance summaries of the ones who first get the laptop.

So as a long time lurker, when you get your new toys... post up your benchmarks, heating and other bits of information so I can rush a purchase sooner than later!

 

Don't worry we will post benchmark but it is the best laptop out there so far. You should not have any hesitation about the purchase.

 

I'm one of those who follow the "better safe than sorry" thought. Just to make sure there's no throttling, it doesn't burn itself up, the screens don't have any problems(Which I doubt as they're the same screens as with the 4870's). I'll just look forward to seeing what you guys have to say about it before I jump in.

 

I just called to check on my order status and it said that my 5870CF system has SHIPPED!!! Hopefully it'll arrive issue free by Wednesday

 

You may be the first one here to get it. The pressure it on...

 

I ordered 5/18 so I guess it will be shipped anytime now too.

 

Just checked the order status phone line and it's shipped I got my invoice, service tag and waybill number too. FedEx isn't showing in their systems yet so hopefully by tonight it'll show up.

 

WOW!! I just checked mine too and it has shipped as well. Does that mean my EDD of 06/23/10 change??? I hope it does'nt take a month to ship to me

Shipped as well. Damn forgot to call for NBD shipping... was just too crowded with work last couple of days. Oh well... will definitely take pics when it comes.

 

Usually, if it ships this late in the afternoon, for the most part it will arrive the day after tomorrow with NBD delivery. So, most of these systems will probably be delivered on Wednesday at the earliest.

 

If you have NBD, expect it tomorrow or the day after. Same as me and Malignant.

Hopefully we get ours tomorrow.

 

I checked on the automated phone service and it said it shipped on May 17th, that's funny. I'll get mine at the same time as Joker and Malignant

Update: It shows the 26th as the delivery date.

 

Yeah it's showing the 26th as the updated date on dell's page too. I'm going to wait and see what FedEx shows.

 

Just an update on my replacement. Mine shipped as well. Overnight. I plan to have benches up with full comparison to the 4870's by tomorrow night.

So much for the detractors who claimed you can't get expedited service. My new replacement wasn't even processed until the end of last week.

If you all stay polite, I'll post my own results, as thus far, my every claim will have been proven true. As I have stated, if you treat Dell with utmost politeness, they WILL do you favors. To claim that they just tell you that to get rid of you is false.

Anyway, I'm not in a race here. I don't care if I post my results first, I'm just happy to get my new system.

 

It has nothing to do expedition, its because you ordered at the right time while they had plenty of stock. Can't wait to see your benches though.
