anyone has the part number for the US keyboard?
-
-
-
Hmm, now you got me thinking... Although I'm not planning on reselling it, but maybe in a few years.
-
Nobody ever plans on selling right away. The problem is when the next new shiny toy comes out you need to be prepared.
-
Good point, I do like shiny toys. Email sent of to dell. 720 under a 3yr warranty sounds much better than a 520 / 3yr warranty. Epsecially since people buying alienware probably want more than a 520.
-
I will hold out for FERMI....but it is tempting.
-
(especially when 740/840/940 are almost here and AMD is on fire entering the notebook segment, finally) but there's one important plus in having a 520M - extremely low temps.
I have a room temp of 30Cand with no coolerpad my CPU doesn't even get above 65C during gaming. 720 got above 75C a few times.

guys anyone knows if a machine without bluetooth has the bluetooth cable anyway?
on my broken m17x r1 the wireless and bluetooth cables look like one bound cable. -
The newer processors are irrelevant for the moment.
-
-
The new processors coming out are minor upgrades compared to the Sandy Bridge release next year. I already did some benchmarks with the 920XM @3.8Ghz on all four cores. The proc was reporting a TDP of 110W when I did this. Unless the 940XM ran at faster speeds with a lower TDP the increase will be minimal in some systems and non-existent in others. -
so even a I5-520m can compliment a CF 5870 set up and not be the bottle neck in the set up. sorry for being the n00b with all my 1st grade questions.

yes i add to this. gpus are the most important thing for gaming. then cpus. and except from benchmark or fps 4870s wont have any difference to 5870s for a normal to slightly advanced user. all of us here we think ourselves benchmarkers or something and we want the latest thus losing the real meaning of everything.
-
Lol, wrong! The latest is the meaning of everything!
-
the only reason for me to move to the 5870's would be to have a more sustained higher frames per second and stability for those hard to maintain action scenes in games running at 1200p.
-
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso
-
-
so did I, Im not paying for another unit.
-
The reason to go to a 5870 is DX11 support. Hard to justify 2 of them unless you like to benchmark.
-
-
A single 4870 is fine for most of the games, surely 5870 is enough
-

the cf selection is because if i want to use the 1900x1200 resolution to see the details of this dx11 then i must use dual mobile gpu graphics. if i was on desktop the single 5870 would outperform dual mobile 5870s -
Can't wait until the day that the desktop and mobile cards are similar in performance.
Actually maybe one day there won't be anymore desktops... -
I just dont l like the clunky un-portable-ness of desktops. -
Yeah I get you but I am sure they are still selling plenty of desktop or they would not make new ones where they spent millions in developing the chassis, cooling system, manufacturing lines, etc...
-
Soon we'll all have omni-tools so we wont need desktops -

There almost here in Australia.
We have GDDR5 4870s lolololol
-
This must be a typo... I thought Dell was not shipping any DDR5 4870's.
Anyone know if on the R2 you need the modded drivers for catalyst or you can just install the ones from ATI's website? -
lol so I originally had 7 day shipping which put my estimated delivery date at 6/18/10 so then I called dell to get NBD which they did and now my shipping is next business day but it only shaved off 2 days so now my estimated delivery date is 6/16/10 which is a Sunday.
Oh and the rep said he expects my notebook to ship next week lol.. based on the information he had. -

(I was considering the exact same config...... hmmmm, should I?)
LOL!

I wonder until which point Dell can restrict PC purchase from someone that has returned too many PC's.
For example, I am not able to return a PC at Costco anymore, they officially warned me by letter after my 9th return in 2 years which is crazy because I bought over 20 PC. Not all got returned. (It was work related...) -
My dad has a home desktop, work laptop, photography laptop, and dozens of hard drives just laying around, a little similar to your past situation, no? -
