I played the demo on my R2 with only a single 5870, because crossfire wasnt working at the time of release, and it was set to full resolution at 1920x1200 and gamer preset, I was averaging 20-30 ish. I am sure with CrossfireX and custom ssttings, we can get 60FPS out of it.

But we really need the flickering issue fixed though. I wont buy the game until it is. Crysis 1 and Warhead were exclusive to PC, and look how great the games were....amazing graphics, great online play, etc. Now look what happened when they made the game for a console first....nothing but issues.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, I am sure glad I bought this game.
Sure I have to disable crossfire or it runs like a mule with stuttering.
But on high settings (high-very high-ultra) at full res with V-Sync I swim in the 35-45 fps which is highly playable.
And the game is jaw-dropping with these settings.
Give ATI and Crytek a month or two to get organised and you ll be ready to enjoy a great fps on your Xfire or challenge it with DX11 if it ever gets released with that feature.
But I wouldn't expect a price drop by then, so why wait :)

Wow.....way to go Crytek. Man did they screw up bigtime on this game.

Good thing I got my refund for my preorder. All this time I was waiting for this game....and I see its just a big let down.

Thanks for showing me that. Now I will definitely not buy the game until that is fixed as well. I am not going to pay for a game to play with a bunch of pirates.

I get constant 48-60 fps at 1200p on advanced graphics settings. On hardcore fps is much lower between 30-40. I did nothing with the game and the drivers are stock.

My dispatch was on hold for 2 weeks now for 5870 xfire and WUXGA.
Yesterday, I requested to just replace the lcd for now and the gpus later, when its available.
They created a dispatch and the lcd is on the way.

It's because the 1.1 update is now in effect on your machine.

I did forget to mention the RGB screen in addition.....thanks for reminding me to stay in the quality over cost cutting camp .....j/k :D

As soon as you get your screen I'd get on them for a pair of brand new 5870M's while there still available or you may end up with the R3 as a replacement.

I would fix the machine myself before I let Dell exchange it for an R3. LOL. The only thing I would consider to exchange with is an M18x (if it even comes into existence) and even then I would be hesitant.

So should I uninstall the game, reinstall and block the update to have no issue?
    Anyone tried that?

From what I read online, if you decline the update, it wont launch the game. But that is just what I read. I did not purchase the game because I do not feel it is worth the price at the moment.

So if my understanding is correct, uninstalling and reinstalling the game won't do anything. I have no idea if there is a way to "block" the update.

You have to disable your network adapter before launching it, or else it won't run.

I'm getting playable FPS at medium settings, crossfire enabled but without the update. Every now and then my game keeps freezing and I'll have to hold my power button down to get out of it- I can't get past one point in the campaign because that continuously happens every time I get there.

Why are some people saying they're getting smooth FPS at max settings? I have to run my game BELOW my native res (1920x1200) and only at medium-low, and I'll still get areas of 10-20 FPS. And I maxed out my hardware when I was buying my R2. Latest drivers and CAP updates too.

just got the game this morning. I have to say this is very disappointing. i expected more from crytek. With crossfire disabled im getting 20-40 fps with v-sync on. With crossfire everything is flikering and getting lower fps. I'm running ati 11.2 drivers with caps4.

also any one can tell me what advanced, gamer and hardcore means, also why i'm not able to customize the settings??

So I borrowed my friends copy to start trying to figure out how get the game to run better before I buy it.

For those getting low FPS, you can try downloading this application to customize the graphics settings to get smoother and higher FPS.

    Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options

Also, now I can see what everyone is talking about with this flickering thing. It is pretty annoying. I did notice, however, for those running CrossfireX if you set Catalyst AI to advanced, the flickering is reduced quite a bit. For me, the flickering occurs in "brighter" areas of the game.

    Yes
    This statement is correct:
Brigadier: You have to disable your network adapter before launching it, or else it won't run.

    Because Crytek blocked it.

For now....but if the M18x comes out with 6970M Xrossfire or 485M SLI I'm sure alot of M17x R3's will be on Craigslist, Dell Outlet, Ebay & the classifieds for cheap just the same as the R2. In the end as the R2's CF parts become scarce and Dell starts offering maxed out R3's as a replacement option, the R2 will also join the R3 once the M18x is released.

In a few months I'm pretty sure you'll start to see that the M17x R3 will be as common as day old bread once Asus launches the G74, Toshiba the new Qosmio, MSI the GX series with the same CPU(2630+) and GPU(460M, 6970M)

If I was you I'd be more worried about the paint chipping off your R3 than anything else. That's something us R2 owners don't have to loose sleep over. ha ha ha.....
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/563849-clear-coat-soft-touch-m17xr3-peeling.html

In the end were all on the same team. Don't worry about the R2 or the M18x. If your happy with your purchase than thats all that matters.
I tried and even spoke to bestbuy customer relations and EA....they both said no.

If you uninstall the game and run ccleaner, clean the registry values left over by Crysis 2 and re-install but disable the internet before it asks you to update you should have a full campaign only Crysis 2 with Xrossfire enabled.

yes it did. But I noticed that the 1.0 version doesn't have all the bloom/lighting/depth of field that the 1.1 update has.

Even so..... I'm still not happy with Crysis 2 until a official patch can be obtained.

    Hello,

I have the M17x r3 with the 460m and I can run Crysis 2 with these settings:

(The three specs are high, very high, and extreme)

    High setting 1920 x 1080 at 35-45 fps

    Very high setting 1920 x 1080 at 26 -30 fps

    Very high setting 1600 x 900 at 40- 45 fps

I actually don't see much of a difference between the High and Very high setting. High looks just as good. The game looks great with the first settings I stated. The difference for me is the resolution. Very high 1600 x 900 looks worst that high 1920 x1080

    Haven't tried Extreme yet ^_^
Im guessing it'll run at about 26-30 fps at 1600 x900 and 20-24 fps on 1920x1080

Oh and a little thing: If your running an Optimus system, you have to set your global setting to High Performance GPU when playing the game. Adding the game to your whitelist will not work. I don't know why but I spent 4 hours with EA tech support trying to fix the game not starting but Dell fixed it in 4 mins. :)

    I uninstalled it via ccleaner.
Looks like the settings are saved somewhere else.

Edit: It works like charm now. I disabled the hybrid sli and now with just sli, it works great!

Yes, but 1.1 also introduces the crazy flickering, that's why I've disabled my network adapter each time I run Crysis 2. I have a Crossfire setup.

This is where you have to make a decision. :)

I have a CrossfireX setup as well. At this time, you have to pick one or the other, or wait for a fix from ATI/Crytek. Either play with flickering in CrossfireX, or have the game freeze up on you.

I what most users are currently doing is updating to 1.1 and disabling CrossfireX until a fix is released. It still plays well with 1 card.

I have an R1 with the latest Dell stock drivers, and if you never told me Crossfire was disabled while running the game on "high" @ 1440-900, I would have never known.

Sure it sucks we're not getting the most out of our systems, but it shouldn't stop you from enjoying the game.

I've just disabled crossfire and it plays quite well. Though there are a lot of bugs in the game. I'm really enjoying it so far but wish they would fix some of the bugs and the crossfire.
I used to get that flickering on the orginal Crysis where the trees and clouds would flicker. I had to install that 2 massive patches that were about 250MB in total.

for m17x-r1 users with nvidia cards who want working sli without flickering I found the following solution:
    1) download 267.24 drivers from nvidia website
    2) download sli profile for crysis 2
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 7
3)add line in your system.cfg file (root dir for crysis 2)
    r_MultiGPU = 1

It works in single player mode, I haven't tested it in multiplayer yet.

    cheers

For me, I didn't needed that tweak. I just disabled the hybrid mode and it worked fine in SLI.
As soon as I enabled hybrid, flickering started again.

Since crossfire messes with this game and a single 6970m is close to xfire 5870m Does a single 6970m max the game out at 1920 x 1080?
