the rename method dos not work for those of us who purchased VIA steam unfourtanetly

you should try forcing bioshock crossfire profile thru radionpro that works for me i play on Extreme and 1920x1080 res and get 30-50 outdoor and 50-75 indoor
-
pmassey31545 Whats the mission sir?
I just installed and have played for about 30 minutes. Been getting 30-45 FPS with max about 60 and my graphics are set on hardcore. Don't see why everyone is so down on the R3. Seems to run it great to me!!

Kade Storm The Devil's Advocate
Could have something to do with the fact that you're running a 6970m.
Although I do agree, even with the 460m, this game could show acceptable performance at a slightly lower resolution with maximum settings. -
Anyone knows why on my R-2 im getting only 8-10 fps....laggy like heck can't even move around much, setting on high only, I hate the motion blurr, makes me wanna puke. There's no other setting or custom that anyone can help me with. Latest driver 11.3. I'm also sure stealth mode is off cause I played other games just fine.
-
not too sure but im getting acceptable fps (a little over 30fps) on CF and extreme graphics mode. refer to 11.3 + CAP thread for more info on how to get crysis2 working properly.
-
I just logged onto Steam and got a fresh patch that I don't see any info on yet. Between that and 11.3 CAP 1 my flicking is almost completely fixed with xfire still enabled.
-Byshop -
Got the patch as well. Flickering was still present upon starting game. I dropped brightness down to about half and that fixed flickering so maybe that was my problem the whole time.
With Crossfire enabled, there is no detectable increase in performance over one card. And there are frames that look unrendered which show up when you turn quickly. I'm not sure how to describe it or if there is a term for it, but it looks bad. Extreme on 1920x1200 gets 20FPS average. I really thought I would get more out of Crossfire 5870s. -
I am sure we will get more out of the CrossfireX when ATI updates the CAP/Drivers.

Crysis 2 patch available to download.

From what I've seen, the flickering only happens with certain light sources. Fluorescent lighting in the game flickers (which I wasn't sure was a bug since it often does IRL) but unfortunately so does the sun. The multi-map Skyline used to be enough to send one into a Pokemon-style epileptic seizure but with the patch and profile the problem has been all but eliminated for me. I still see slight flicker from a couple light sources here and there but the big offenders are gone.
-Byshop -
Not to go a little OT but unfortunately the patch didn't do jack to ban hackers. I was in a match with someone using Aimbot yesterday.
-Byshop -
Why the f does Cryotek continually let EA put out a game that isnt ready? Patches shouldnt be needed directly after the game is released. Good luck gents with the purchase. Once you guys figure out all the tricks, patches, and work abounds to getting this game to run maybe Ill purchase it. I wonder how the PS3 version plays.
-
I think it's the other way around, EA does have a tendency to screw up good franchises and put undue pressure on it's studios.
-
Woot! New anti-cheat patch today.
-Byshop -
Is is possible to download a Crysis 2 demo somewhere? I can't seem to find one anywhere online...

skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
You should just go out and buy it.
Since you have a sinlge gpu, you are excluded from the sli/cf flickering. -
so has this been solved yet, i am having the same problem as well?
-
No the flickering problem is still there. There's a few ways of making it better and using dual cards. Though there's no offical fix yet. Once there is I'm sure the game will run really well. Have a look through this thread for fixes.

Only one thing sums up my graphical experience with Crysis 2; F My Life
But hats off to how well it plays on a single GPU configuration. -
No idea why you guys are having all these flicker issues. The game is incredible, realistic and haven't seen a single flicker. Graphics are all set on high and I'm running on a single display, 60" at 1920x1080 on Very High. I'll have to try "extreme" but very high is what it defaulted to and I'm blown away.
-
Plan on trying it if/when my R3 comes in.
-
Hi there,
There was a multiplayer demo that was released a few weeks back.
You can get it over here;
Download Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo | techPowerUp
Advanced Graphic options;
Download Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options 1.6.1 | techPowerUp
Cheers.
-
You can still download the demo and install it but there are no servers up they took them down when the game was released
-
Can I still play by myself at least?
-
Thanks for the Demo link. For some off the wall reason, I never even thought Crysis had a demo. Man am I out of it.....
-
no the demo was a multiplayer demo only.

After a clean OS install with the 11.3 drivers and the 11.3 CAP1 update, Crysis 2 runs even worse than before. I tried the Fear.exe renaming, even though I hadn't noticed severe flickering than before, and I noticed my game was completely flicker-free- Except for the suit HUD which flickered to the point it sometimes disappeared completely.
I renamed it back to Crysis2.exe, and using wasdie's advanced graphics options application (1.7) I enabled the multi-GPU checkbox and started it again, and now there is absolutely no flickering whatsoever. But now I'm getting terrible framerates and my screen blacks out quite frequently- During in game cutscenes all I'll see is black, whenever I get to critical health, performing a combat slide, etc. etc.
This kind of graphical corruption happened before on another one of my old, old inspiron laptops when I was playing COD4 quite some time ago, the laptop was so old it DEFINITELY was pretty far away from the min requirements. Could it be my GPUs are failing? (I have xfire 5870s on my R2) -
Regarding the black screens your experiencing now while playing Crysis2.
This is induced as a side effect when you disable "motion blur" via
wasdie's advanced graphics options application.
Its a postprocessing bug in the cvars of the game apparently.
Simple fix: edit the line "r_motionblur=0" to 1 in the autoexec.cfg file
wasdie app generated in the Crysis 2 root folder.
Will have to live with the blur effect until a work around is found unfortunately. -
Just as most (if not all) SLI/CF users , i'm getting unbearable for the eyes screen flickering during gameplay when using both cards. The "Single-GPU" option in the Crysis 2 profile in Nvidia CP makes the game playable , but there is of course a big loss because the game does not take advantage of both cards. I really hope this does get fixed in the next patch/nv driver.
-
Really? I had no idea! I'll definitely give it a try in a bit. Hell, thanks a ton
-
Geez.. No fix for SLI/CF flickering already? 8-|
-
The new 11.3 CAP3 is out for those that don't know, and it improves CrossfireX performance and fixes the flickering issue!
Download it here:

You are a legend my friend
-
Just tried the CAP 3 for Crysis 2 and although the flicker is gone, the performance is below that of the FEAR profile.
So I'll be using FEAR for when I play Crysis 2 from now on becuase it gives much better Frames and the flicker is gone.
Thanks anyway ;D -
i fixed mine by updated to patch 1.2 !
and put this code (using nvidiaInspector) into SLI compatibility bits : "0x42506405" (this code is from blaize, it fixed fps drop when enter maximum armor mode)
Running perfect in hardcore video setting. -
I still get flickering even after instaling CAP3....
x2 5870s.... has this really solved the flickering completely? -
skygunner27 A Genuine Child of Zion
For some reason my flickering stopped. After installing CAP3 my flickering has returned
-
What exactly does this code do? :-?\
Edit: It doesn't work for me... Screen still flickers like hell on christmas.
-
Cap 3 fixed my flickering issues (using steam Crysis 2)
-
after update to patch 1.2
try put these on your "system.cfg"
inside Crytek\Crysis2 folder
since we have similar system it should work on you.
if all failed try:
run it on windows mode, try different Res, try turn off physx in nvidia panel, use different SLI profiles for this game, update your vcard driver, ...
Goodluck -
Did you all buy and play Crysis 2 through "EA Game Manager" or Steam?
Trying to figure out which source would be better; or would they be the same? -
finally!!! tanks guys for the heads up. At last, i can run crysis at max settings with AA enlabled at 50fps average
-
I bought mine thru ea because i got it for cheaper from a friend. I would say they are the same thing, the only difference will be that in steam your friends from steam can see you playing it
-
Thanks! That's good to know it will be the same. I wanted to buy through Amazon ($52 + $15 gift credit for another game), and use the KEY to DL from EA
-
Don't even bother with that. Here is a heck of a deal, you will get the key within hours. This is the real deal.
Crysis 2 PC Digital CD Key | eBay -
I don't do ebay nor have paypal. Nothing personal, just never got into that area of the internet. Took me 4 years before I bought my first Steam game; I'm a late bloomer.

CptXabaras Overclocked, Overvolted, Liquid Cooled
Still place for another guest on the Flickering party?........
I've purchased the game through steam.. needless to say that i'm experiencing flickering, tryied everything from this thread and: or i'm doing something wrong, or there is no way to play it with CF enabled without flickering.
I'm on 11.4 preview with latest CAP from 11.3 -
This works partially , it has the same effect as using the Crysis 1 SLI Profile by changing the .exe name to "Crysis.exe" , unfortunately, the HUD flickers , instead of the lighting. It is playable but quite annoying...
-
Flickering is gone for me. Have you tried lowering the brightness in game? This worked wonders for me. I have brightness set to just below half.
