Hi guys, I ordered my m17xr3 on 10th of March. Ted told me it would be shipped in the first week of April, so 6 day's till April, we will se how punctual he is

 

Mine seems to be in April 10.



I guess that email was random spam.

 

we where all ready to hang Ted for taking backhanders lol

mine is due early next week at HID then about 5 days to the UK

 

Its not HID fault if the laptop still is in production or on its way to HID or on its way from HID to you. HID is mearly a step in between for us "outside USA living alienware lovers"

 

Do you all realise that importing with a lower declared value can drop you into alot of problems if your system gets lost or damaged in transit......I hope you do.

Heard lots of people buying and agreeing a lower value to save on import costs......thats a huge risk in my book.

 

From the order status thread - I hope this is wrong.............there have been a couple of ships last few days so might only be certain configurations e.g. 6970 gpu or something

For your info, there is a material shortage on the computer. It is estimated to come in the production on 26th March. Once the material reach, the production will need to take 2-3 working days to assemble your parts and test the machine.

It will takes another 3-4 working days for factory to ship out to the local hub.

Eta will be another 3-4 working days from hub to your delivery address.


Looking at the details, I will not be getting mine till April 14th or 15th.
I am thinking about cancelling it, as every month the tech becomes just that little bit older, and we all know a month in is a long time in computer time.


For others here waiting, if there is a shortage, then it likely that also will apply to you.

lol with that thinking you might as well wait forever. Eerybody knows that new tech comes out all the time for computers. I don`t think anything new and exciting will happen in less than a month though

 

Yeah i agree. Every man for him self i guess. Some people are a little nervous about this, while other people just don`t care and are willing to take the risk. I know a few friends who have done this. Luckily they all got through without any damage.
I wonder if the people in the toll both who calculates the VAT when it comes to your country is capable of figuring out what the laptops are really worth. I mean if a package is declared the value of $500 and they see it is an alienware, do they do something about it or are the incapable of figuring it out?

 

It happened to me, ordered a Toshiba X500 18" laptop from the states, declared it way under value ($400), got a call from customs 'Am I waiting on a delivery', Yes I said. Nothing more...

Invoice comes, item valued at uk equivalent price as item was deemed to be brand new and had no invoice in the box.

Just be careful and don't talk about it on a public forum

 

Hmmm my EDD is now 10 April. Then it still has to be shipped out to me.

HID double pack the box for transport so the Alienware box does not draw attention. Thats a good thing.
Warrenty is being tranferd as soon as HID receives your order, you will receive a email notification when the warrenty is transfered.

Think Dell has so many orders to handle that they cant keep up, or there is a shortage of supply's.

 

the lower declared value thing can make problems for you all that are trying it. The customs have infos about all products stored in they computers, and always compare the prices (yours and the one in their system, and if they see something suspicious, they will just charge you the value in their systems.) so good luck with that

 

that is quite worrying for me as I only have a small 2 week window in early April to receive this then I'm away for 5 months again.

 

But you said us that Ted would receive it on tuesday, i think, right? so what happened? And wich was your EDD?

 

Had another chat before I posted that message. Dont know what happend, my EDD is 10th of April now. I'm very patient.

Its a new system so Dell will have alot of orders.

 

I think he's telling everyone April 10th. He told me that yesterday

 

Our orders where placed the same day I guess.

No R3 yet, mine is still in production. EDD is 10th of April. Please read the whole thread.

You can configure your laptop and see how much it costs. Add shipping costs and add the tax/custom fees. Dont know how much they charge in France.

 

Alienware France:
i7 2720QM, 6970M, 4GB RAM, 1080p 60 hz
Price €2514

Hidevolution:
i7 2720QM, 6970M, 4GB RAM, 1080p 60 hz
Price € 1480
To import it to France: €1480 + €296 (20% TVA) + €100 (postal) = €1876
Money saved: €2514 - €1876 = €638

Ordered on 28/01/2011. and then on the next day, the recall issue popped up

 

Damn, will have a chat next week or so. Hope its not delayed. Dell must have soo much orders to complete or a supply shortage.

 

Dell should have better interaction with the client.

ie ETA 10th - On schedule or
ETA 10th - Waiting for Black paint
ETA 10th - Waiting on AMD 6970
or whatever

That way you could ring up and upgrade / downgrade if you want it quicker...

Anyone knows if Ted can give us our Alienware serial number or any number with we can track it by phone or dell website? Or how can i check my order status by myself?

 

I've never directly asked.

Ask him in a couple of hours when he's online. If he does let us know it'd be awesome but I get the impression that he wont. He just says check back in a few days.

If he would let us have an order number i'd get on the 0800ALIENWARE number or whatever and ask for them to bloody hurry up.

I guess Ted has negotiated a nice discount which is where he must make his cash as his prices are the same as Alienware.

So perhaps even if we know the number he may have some reseller liaison with dell that prevents direct contact.

 

My one was was 10 april(which was what quite a few people were told here as well) before I got a answer again that it was actually 20 april when it will arrive to HID from Dell.

Only difference between your and my orders is that you have 3D 460m system and I have the 6970.

Anyway if my ETA gets any later than the 20th I might abandon the M17X idea and get a similarly specced ASUS G73

I don't know really but it takes a while then add the delivery time as well. I just could not wait that long while also taking the delivery risk.



I cancelled my order and ordered it from dell uk. The discount I got was good enough for me to get it here even if it was 200 pound extra.

 

To bad you canceled. I'm patiently waiting since I allready sold this laptop and made some 850-900 dollar profit.

The question is how long will you need to wait ordering it from dell.uk??

 

My one is already half built the estimated delivery time is 19 april but I expect to get it in 10 to 12 days.

If I wanted the 6970/2820 spec then I would have have ordered from HID given that would have been too much here. But what I wanted fit in my budget thankfully.

Still, I hope everything goes well for you guys from HID...since I would in the future might get some stuff from there.

 

Big Great news!! I chatted with Ted just now and he said me that my alienware will be delivered tomorrow, so i will receive it by mid next week!

 

Lucky you. Mine will arrive late next week. Ordered on the 14th of March.

 

I had a theory that the back order at Dell production site was something to do with Stealth Black, if you look at the other thread on here (Order Status) many people who where expexting delivery around now where pushed out to April 10th or further, Ted ordered your system the same way they did so if there is a production problem it will effect his orders the same way. My EDD is still tomorrow - N'Red

 

my R3 has arrived at HIDEolution along with some others, to be shipped to me early next week, some others may be getting a nice email from Ted.

mine was ordered 11th March, Neb red, color i think was the shortage in production the S/black cases may have been on backorder.

hey all, i ordered mine 25th march so does anyone have any idea when will i receive mine???(just a speculation)
and also im worried about 2 things i ordered 2630 cpu and 6250 wirless card(cuz of Wimax) is 2630 performance alot weaker compared to 2720 (i know it doesn support 1600 ram) and also how about 6250 vs 6300 ??? thanx in advance

 

It wil take about 4 weeks.

The 2630 turboboost is lower yes but its still a very powerfull CPU. The SB CPU's are much more powerfull then the previous generation CPU's. You can always change it later if you want a faster CPU.

About the WIMAX, if you have 3D it wont work, same for Optimus/IGP.

If you dont have 3D then the WIMAX will work but you will need some more hardware to make it work on your TV. Called Netgear push2tv or something.

If your internet provider provides the speed your wireless card can work with and your router/modem also support that high speed then go for the 6250/6300. Standerd card is ok, you can also change it later, all the wires are allready placed in the laptop.

 

My system has reached London UK via fedx, ordered through HIDEvolution 11/12th March due for delivery tomorrow. Despatched 1st April

That's pretty fast but it did cost $250
