+1 rep and tanx for taking the time and answering all of my questions...i ordered 6970 and as you said i think im gonna upgrade my cpu maybe next year to stay nearly on top.
i have another question if you dont mind. i ordered stuck 4gb 1333 ram . is it enough if i add another 2/4 gb 1333 . or should i get hyperX 1600 and get it to somehow work on my lappy??

4GB is enough and 8GB wont hurt since 2x4GB 1333 is cheap. Do not buy from Dell!!

The CPU can be upgraded to the 2920EM, on ebay for about 800-900 dollars. Like the name says, its got to be extremly fast. :D

The 2630 supports 1600 memory, its some setting in the bios. Send a PM to DaneGRclose, the guy with the skeleton as avatar with a mohawk. He played with this before if I'm correct.

Your 1600 will run at 1333 if you use 2x4GB 1333 and 2x4GB 1600. So replace al 4 or just add 2x4GB 1333. Really dont know if you gain much switching from 1333 to 1600.

tanx for the info ! :) guess i'll just add 4gb 1333 so it will be a total of 8 gb and in a year or so when i upgraded the cpu , i'll upgrade the ram as well ;)

Ok so this isn't related to alienware but it is related to hidevolution so I'm posting here. I ordered a G60JX for my brother 2 weeks ago from hidevolution yet it is still in the 'processing' stage (seems to have been the last one as it was out of stock as soon as I placed the order). Kind of disappointed since it's meant to be sent by express international mail, yet it hasn't even been shipped..

What's even more concerning is the fact that they have my $1200 and they refuse to answer any of my emails regarding the status of the order.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

At the beginning I did send emails and they all got answered. Now I use the chat function. Works great.

Just use the chat function and ask what the order status is. Give your ordernumber and the tech will check.

on reflection I honestly would have bought and installed the 2920XM cpu for this very reason, I'd still have the 2620QM in case I had an issue, HIDevolution will stand over the mods they do but it sort of complicates things plus if I'd have wanted I could have sold the Dell installed CPU making the overall cost some $500 less but thats how it goes, they are still a good service and the savings I made compared to UK prices where Huge

I recommend you don't install any drivers or similar until you have a feel for the stability of the machine, then you will know if you update anything and it causes problems, MS says that extra language packs cause bsods so uninstall them

Glad you got it safely. I'm definitely going to consider them on my next purchase like M18x.

I love the currency rate. Given I cancelled my order I finally got back the money back after a number of weeks passed but I got a few quid more. I payed out £1,836 and got back £1,855. Nice profit for me. :D

Thanks for that. However he still has not replied. I've tried contacting him through the site, through the live chat and directly through to his email..all up about 5 different emails..

He was quick to answer when I ordered and asked if he could declare the laptop at a lower value when shipping, which to he replied with a 'no problem'. So I don't understand why he stopped replying once I paid..

    Hello everyone,
I would like post my case since I am looking for help regarding an order I placed on the hidevolution page.
On march the 7th I placed an order for an m17x custom build on their website.
2 weeks later since the order was still on "Processing" I contacted the custormer service webchat and they told me that custom order can take up to 4 weeks to get delivered by dell.
Last week (monday) again on webchat Ted told me that they where specting the laptop to be delivered and that as soon as they received it they will ship it to me here in France, and that I would be notified by mail.
Earlier I log on to my account on their website and the order is still in "Processing" state and no mail has been received whatsoever...
Is anyone else having this DELAY? It's already 5 weeks...
Thanks in advance for your help... :)
Eager to get my little beast...

I saw a few members complaining that Dell delayed their orders due to a motherboard stock shortage, pretty normal regarding only the number of them they had to replace

HIDEvolutuion order their systems from Dell exactly the same way everyone in the US does, the best guestimate of how Dell are delivering ordered systems to US customers is simply to view the order status thread on this forum, there have been many delays and shortages with Dell production, some orders where delayed and some where not depending on what particular options you selected, I noticed a pattern early on that only seemed to delay Space Black configurations, I ordered Nebula Red 12th March and my system was delivered to HID on the EDD of 1st April and arrive at my home in the UK 4 days later

The spec I ordered was Stealth Black with 2820QM and 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon™ HD 6970M.
I wasn't expecting that hidevolution would not answer any of the mails I sent nor not giving me any up do dat einformation when they had it.
I honestly would have felt more at ease if I would have been given more information.
Being without any information is really annoying... :-(

when I placed my order they gave me a delivery date based on the information they got from Dell, tbh I don't know why Ted is not communicating with you right now, but I do know that Dells orders for the R3 are in a serious state of flux for many people, I would guess it's giving Ted quite a headache right now, I have never failed to make contact with HiDEVO using their online chat, I don't understand why you are having problems

    Fingers crossed for this evening.
I hope at least there is a clean explanation and some information, like tracking number of some sort... :)
And yep Cloupdfire, I agree with you about that keeping a customer well informed is always the best way to deal with them.
If there is a problem on Dell's side, I understand that Hidevolution cannot do anything about it.
However without even knowing that, how could I guess...?

I asked you a question that you have as yet not answered, when you placed your order with HIDEvolution what date did they provide you with for Dells delivery, everyone else here has recieved updates from HID, did you get any of these. something just doesn't quite add up here, I sent Ted an email asking about your situation referring him to this thread as I don't have your id

You will not recieve any information about the Dell side of the transaction other than HID's expect EDD from Dell, they cannot give you Dell order numbers etc because that would compromise their business accounts

and cloudfire, "messed up customer service" very strong words based one persons limited postings here, nobody else has experienced any issues, I would be carefull about reaching any conclusions just yet.

That's not true. I'm working with Ted for almost one year. He his a very serious guy in business. Though, he is not replying to e-mail except when you want to order something, and is not complying with the timeframes. As a custumer thats terrible.

I must stress that I am not taking sides here or defending HIDEvolution, but Dell have hardly been providing a great service with orders placed, Ted can only ride the Dell incompetence wave that is happening right now, what does he update his customers with if Dell are not updating him ??

anyway keep us posted as to how you get on with your chat.

Have other people (on this site) posted something I've missed on this thread, I know there have been plenty of posts about people and their orders with Dell, can't imagine how bad that would be if you where ordering 20 at a time lol

Yes there are more people than Akinho and hosuke in this thread that is saying that once he have processed the order to build, he does not reply.

Anyhow i am just stating that any company that deal with a direct contact with customers, should respond to the customers when they ask questions. XoticPC, Gentech and all the resellers here on NBR are excellent with this.

perhaps something Ted needs to address and improve on

my own experience was good, I got dates etc sent to my email of order placed and expected delivery, it would have been pointless sending emails every week to ask again for information I was already aware of

If HID needs to update everyone who is asking for a order status every other day then he will be going beserk.

Its better to contact HID via chat once every 1.5 week or so. The men got stuff to do. Dell doesnt update HID so how can he update you?

Best to be patient and if contacting via chat make sure you ask the right questions. Like "could you check my EDD, ordernumber######" Short and simple. I ordered mine 14 March, expect it to arrive at HID this week.

There also is a phone number on the HID website. Plenty ways to contact the men.

well said mate, more or less what I've been trying to get across, Dell now have a shortage of motherboards, do you think they sent everyone emails and updates on EDD's - flipping sure they didn't lol, even people talking on the phone with Dell reps are being kept in the dark and being missinformed

when my order was progressing with HIDEvo I watched the order status thread here as a gauge of what to expect from my my order with Ted, people have spents hours on the phone trying to manage just one personal order, I actually have sympathy for Ted having to deal with multiple Dell orders and trying to keep his own customers accurately updated, the info flow from Dell is less than perfect, people receiving systems when the order status says - in production - and viserversa, I blame Dell right now for the mess their order system is in.

    Hi again Geoffxx.
When I talked to Ted viq chat begining of last week he told me that the estimated delivery date from Dell was Monday the 4th of April.
    Sorry I missed this question.
And no, I haven't received any update from HID, all the information I got has been through insisting/annoying(maybe) HID.

The thing is that, like i said, i've been working with Hidevolution for almost one year. Ted used to be very fast replying e-mails, giving updates, etc. Nowdays, he only reply e-mails for new orders. Thats not correct. We need to insist, going to chat etc to have some news on items that we had ordered!

based on what I'm reading on the order status thread on these forums Dell is in deep do do trying to ship systems on time, I think I just made it in terms of getting my order before all the shortages started and I also ordered NebRed which for a while seemed to be flowing when black wasn't, I'm not sure what ted is going to tell you about your order except what Dell tells him, I'd be almost 100% sure that it has been delayed from Dell, if you want Ted to try and confim this then get onto the online chat

you - Ted has my order arrive from Dell
Ted - No it seems there is a shortage at the factory
you - when will it be delivered
Ted - Dell are saying the is an extra 3 weeks wait
you - ok thx, let me know if any update

    :)

Just off the phone with HID.
The person on the phone (did not ask his name) told me that my order should be received either this week or next one because Dell was having part shortages and due to the m17x r3 being a very hot product (no surprise there).
Also he told me that HID lacks the resources to keep everyone up to date when these delays happen, but that they would love to have more in detail information from Dell to give to us customers.
So... now gotta wait at least one more week to see if there is any update.
So Geoffxx you were pretty much 100% right on your 'chat print'. lol
