Hey guys, Battlefield 3 averages me about 30 FPS in campaign with all settings on ultra and I randomly get frame rate drops especially when the game is saving. Any advice?

That has to do with the game, not the PC. I get the same thing too regardless of what drivers I use. I'm currently using the newest WHQL from Nvidia.

Wow that's really lame. It gets all slow and I have to pause the game and wait for it to speed up again.

Thank you for all the help DOC!!!

I fresh installed the Dell drivers and everything is working perfect as of right now. BF3 is working great as well!

Even WEI went up to 7.6 from 7.4 for 3d games and graphics. I know WEI is lame...but it's still an indicator.

I haven't been getting any stutters as far as I can see. Also multiplayer performs much better than single player for some reason. And just for kicks, my WEI:

    CPU: 7.8
    RAM: 7.9
    GPU: 7.8
    Aero: 7.8
    Storage: 7.9

    GREAT WEI SCORES!!!

Yea...I am not happy with Single Player mode. They probably forgot to optimize since they knew this was gonna be a MP game.

What are the frame rates some of you are getting on BF3? It seems like mine are a bit low, hovering around 25-45fps. I have 11.9 CAP 4 and 11.9 drivers and I have half of my settings on Ultra and half of my settings on High. I am doing 2x AA and 1X MS I believe.

    Thanks

Bartlett, you may want to try this and see if it helps you. I know its helped others complaining of low frame rates in BF3

[GUIDE] So you want to play Rage and BF3 but you don't want to update your AMD drivers

Mine are generally around 30FPS and I'll get these random drops to 4-7FPS for some reason. They can last anywhere from about 30 seconds to a minute.

Iv had everything on Ultra and had zero issues. The only thing I ended up turning down was Aniso its at 8x instead of 16x cause I just don't see a difference.

    GPU is a 580m

At those settings on a 580m I was getting 25-40fps. That is playable for sure. But it stutters and isn't good for max accuracy, as the minimum frame rate will be <24 which will result in noticeable lag.

I noticed 0 stuttering and I'm extremely sensitive when it comes to that with shooters. I will log the FPS and let everyone know what I'm getting.

I just downloaded the 11.9 drivers...and I too am getting 25 - 40 fps on Ultra (depening on which map it is). Things are still playable @ 25 fps.

    I'm hardwired onto the net.

clean installed 11.9 and cap 4, running GPU-Z while I play BF3, it shows GPU-1 getting high on 75-80. GPU-2 only on 30!!!!!!!!!

my gps is 5870m xfire, from the temputure, I dont think that xfire is really enabled, or xfire suck, sli is better!!?

check the screenshot, the software I used is RadeonPro, it can show all ati card status when you gaming. ignore the fps, it will drop to 30-40 fps when I switch to full screen, and on LOW SETTINGS!!!!! is it sad for a xfire user? it runs on xfire but only one card working hard for gaming.

how did you pull off the 7.9 on RAM ? it's still 7.8 even with cas7 20,17GB/s
i got 7.8 across the board except 7.9 for SSD

    BF3 give me (vsync on)
    40-60 fps (heavy-OC) and 35-55 fps (mild-OC low temp)
no stutter at all with 8.92 (catalyst 11.12)

I'm actually getting 60FPS on Ultra setting without any AA enabled. Lowest I've ever seen on SP was 40. I tried multiplayer ONCE and i ended up getting the same FPS as SP. 50-60FPS and 40ish on heavy fights. On 11.9 with CAP4. Very happy with the performance!

have you clean installed the driver? or is there any settings you have done for ATI control panel? I am so sad about my fps with same spec of yours. I used ccleaner and Driver Sweeper to clean older driver and installed new one

I get 7.8 using Cas7 as well. I'm using XMP profile 2 which is Cas9 but running at 1600Mhz. That gives a higher WEI score.

I use all Ultra as well but sometimes it will fall below 40FPS if too many explosions and people in MP, I guess I will try to turn all AA off.

i got about 35-40 frames while playing indoors. I noticed that turning of msaa increases your fps ALOT i think that has the most significance. The rest is on maximum including AA 16x

while outdoors i usually set about 2 of the settings to high, rest will be ultra and turn off msaa and set aa to 2 or 4.

    35-45 fps guaranteed!

Playing now with the 580m OC'd to 800/1800 @ .92v getting 50-60 fps with all ultra except no AA Defered, SBAO, post AAx4. Max temp was 73C with the back elevated. I was able to go completely ultra but I couldn't really see a difference. AAx16 drops my FPS to 25-35.

Alright not sure what's wrong with my system but I reverted back to the latest 11.9 and I'm happiest with these because it removes flickering. However I've had to reduce resolution to 1600x ???? to get the FPS I want with out freezeups. I'm okay with this while turning on AA but I was wondering what's the correct resolutions to utilize with my system scaling down from 1920 1200? Thanks.

I can but towards the end of a round it gets videolaggy, I mean it's annoying because the motion of loading my SV98 starts to lag out bugging the crap out of me. But I suppose I can try to install video drivers again, do you have any recommendations of a free driver cleaner? I'm also thinking that I need 60+ FPS because I'm sniping VERY often and when you're looking down your scope you notice things, or at least I do. Half of all of my Sniper kills are Headshots, I'd like to increase that percentage :D

I use DriverSweeper for cleaning the driver, and CCleaner for searching and removing dead AMD-related registry links, I run ccleaner couple of times untill it says everything is clear. Then I install the driver. Both programs are free

one good question, I hope I will be getting my m17x-r3 soon, does alienware release drivers often or we are stuck with the OEM provided year old drivers as usual with the other companies? (never had alienware before)

Dell updates drivers progressiveley. Most of the drivers on Dell drivers and support are pretty latest.

When it comes to video cards...you really have to go to the manufacturer's website to get the latest updates.

Did anyone used the Nvidia system tools to overclock the gpus in R1/R2 to get the FPS boost?

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06

BF3 runs great everything on high with 1080p(45-55 FPS) when I run straight in the map.
If I take a 360 spin then it lags(25-30 fps). Everything is normal during gunfights except a spin.

Its causing me to loose XP :( ... spoiler alert, AN94, isnt as fun as you think the top Assault rifle is lol

but the manufacturer drivers will tell they cannot find any compatible hardware right? happened billions of times already with mobile GPUs (pain in the neck), how can you overcome this?

How to install those for an alienware GPU? For sure they will complain no compatible hardware.. :(

wow, did anybody notice that origin is an official SPYWARE... I read this in amazon, I hope it is not true, otherwise I won't install it... (well, more SKYRIM time :))

here is an excerpt from origin's terms of use:
"you agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit... information that identifies your computer (including IP address), operating system, application usage (including but not limited to successful installation/removal), software, software usage... may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of ... dynamically served content... other services to you... EA may use this information, COMBINED WITH PERSONAL INFORMATION for marketing purposes... "

    also check this out...

I just noticed a lawsuit on EA for origin being spyware and breaking german privacy laws. When you install origin it flat out says its spyware. You have to agree to let EA transmit data from your hard drive, search your hard drive, use any data found for marketing purposes and so on. Why would anyone put up with this trash?

Real kicker is EA recently added to the EULA to say youre not allowed to sue them anymore.

"By accepting these terms, you and EA expressly waive the right to a trial by jury or to participate in a class action.

YOU UNDERSTAND THAT BY THIS PROVISION, YOU AND EA ARE FOREGOING THE RIGHT TO SUE IN COURT AND HAVE A JURY TRIAL.

YOU AND EA AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR
