Yes, you can! I got next business day shipping, free razor mouse and $50 in amazon gift cards for a problem after i received it? ( I have no idea how or why they give these out?) Although I was delayed and had a small issue after delivery Dell came through for me and I am very happy. Plus, I got a really good deal on the laptop to boot!

Just got a call from Shenker (Aus courier) and they say Dell should have the laptop in their office on the 22nd April. My EDD is 26th so it looks like it will come on time.

Fingers crossed, already waited 6 weeks so far. I'll probably drive and pick it up myself to get it a little earlier!

I hope I don't get the shakes this weekend.

    Or a delay call/email.

delivery status day 3.. my M17X is still in Shanghai...
ups stop holding my alien in china and send it already!
think that the just hold up enough packages to send in once.
gonna call dell cause they promised nbd delivery and it's now 3bd.

So it's almost the 15th and my EDD is the 16th. I'm guessing it's gonna get delayed at the last moment because mine is not even in boxing stage. :(

Well, finishing up week 2 and my Warranty replacement M17xR2 shows a status of "In Production" and also shows an EDD of "n/a". So no change. Haven't heard back from my Dell Tech yet so who knows.

A little worried about joining the Facebook Group "Dell Blackhawk" or whatever. I don't want to have to create an account just for that.

Which date information is more accurate? The one on the site or the one on the automated machine? I'm trying to get something from Dell if they gimme a delay. It's the 16th of this month (from the automated phone call) vs 19th (Order Status site).

The info on the phone is usually more accurate. Don't call right away if the order is delayed asking for free stuff because they don't like that.

I wish I even got that much information. Both the automated system and dell.com say "in production" and my EDD is still n/a. I don't know how others on the site manage to find out what part is holding them back. None of the reps even try to look up detailed information as to what's going on with my replacement order. I am actually on hold now waiting for customer service in hopes of getting some kinda status other than "in production".

Spoke with Order support and they are going to send a message to the "customer concern" department? 3-5 days and I will get an email response with a status update on my laptop. Tracking/etc. 3-5 days will be 3 weeks, not 2 like I was told. I just hope I can find out tracking information so I can make sure someone is here to accept the package. yeesh.

It all depends what you are using it for. If you do heavy multitasking, I guess 820QM and 8 GB Ram can be useful but if you are just going casual use, save some money and get 720QM and 4 GB Ram. Everything else looks good! You can probably use the money saved and drop a SSD in there!

I want to get the best gaming laptop possible plus I'll be running my eBay business through it too. Will dropping down to the 720QM slow it down for games eg Crysis etc?

Me as well. I'm just hoping it can somehwhat beat that deadline of May 13th. IF my laptop gets delayed once I'm canceling my order and going with dell outlet. I'm so envious of how he got his laptop the week he ordered, and he got a decent system for a decent price, Wish they had r2's in there :( . I'm stuck using my Area-51m15x until it gets here, which really isn't all that bad I suppose. I had an Intel SSD and Blu Ray Drive ready to install on it when I get it. Perhaps I should do some reading up on how to do that BluRay Sata Drive Slot install.

That's the expected ship, sucked I ordered it then delayed it a week because of the sale, and now it's expected may 15th as estimated ship. And that's a whole month, which I'm not use, to. Call me a Snob, I don't care, but if I put up 2g's + and have to wait a month that's already somewhat absurd let alone possible longer. So i'm saying if they don't meet their own estimated Date, (Which is like usually the ceiling for them I mean they always aim to minimum make that date) I'm going with an m15x off the outlet. A local friend of mine asked me order a system for him on weds. and guess what? He got it today.

    That makes me so jealous.....

Dell outlet, m15x 260m i7 720qm with 1 year Advanced 1,300. 3 days including the day I made the phone call...... I know, refurbished, not built, already built, but it's just got me thinking, Save Money, get it Fast, what's the con here again? Is the R-2 that much better then an m15x i7? Better Be!!! LoL.... Expectations are high now!

Thats because most of outlet computers are refurb and already built. Ones from normal dell.com are new and need time to be built at the factory in China and then shipped.. Different ball game. I wish it didnt take them that long to build them but it does...

Yup. Got a call from Dell and was told it's going to be delayed to April 26th. He told me the processor is the only thing that's holding my computer so I asked him if changing to 720QM or 920XM would ship it faster and was told ALL the processor is on back order. He's gonna gimme another call on Monday and if it doesn't work out, time to ask for a free Razer Mamba. :D :(

    AAAAAHHHGG!!

Talked to a different Dell Rep today. I am starting to get very concerned about when my laptop is going to actually arrive. It HAS to be here in Portland, OR area before the end of the month.

You see I ordered it to take with me on deployment (in the military). I told them that when I ordered it. Rep said it wouldn't be a problem when I ordered it on March 12th...

I bugged them and they added next business day shipping gratis. (Yea!!)

Then... oops not out of production. DOH!!

Original delivery date came and went. New EDD 19th of April (...grumbling ok fine!)

Keep checking order status compulsively... Wife thinks I am becoming obsessed. Notice that it hasn't changed to "boxing" or shipped.

    Call Dell.
    Transfered.
    Put on hold.
    Wait.
Guy says it is still in production at factory. He was nice.
Mention that I have to have it soon, because I am leaving, in military blah, blah....
Guy says he will keep in contact with me.

    %$@&*!!!!

I would like to install a bunch of games, movies, music etc before I have to go. Make sure that the video cards are functioning, make sure it has correct drivers and install software that is blocked after going OCONUS.

    Starting to sweat bullets...

    Ordered 03/12/2010
    Original EDD 04/14/2010
NBD (next business day delivery) added.
    New EDD 04/12/2010
    Delayed email...
    New EDD 04/19/2010
Called 04/16/2010... going to be delayed at least until into the following week.
Have yet to receive new "Delayed" email. Still showing that it will show on Monday, which I know is false. Be lucky to get it before I leave.

[resists temptation to bang head against expensive Dell LCD monitor]

    I feelz da pain!!

I know its not the best solution....can you install the stuff on an external and have family/friends shipp the laptop to you? I'm in the opposite situation...currently on a FOB in Afghanistan waiting on mine to be delivered to my house about the time I get back after my tour here.

Are almost all Dell products delayed like this? My M11x was on time(minus the damn weekend) so im hoping my m17x is on time. Not early tho, i know if i hope for it to come early it will come late because my luck is that crappy.

I ordered my M17x on the 13th of April, and got sent so many of those emails with the PDF displaying the order confirmation... after two days, that order was randomly cancelled and I emailed the consultant asking why and she said "there was an illegal part in your first order". The first order is said to arrive on the 4th of June but I think she said it would be only 2-3 weeks waiting time... 'cause, well, nearly two months is pretty over the top! This second order without the illegal part (I've yet to discover what it was) has the same arrival date. I have been watching the order status and it had gone to 'Work In Progress' stage by last night, and now it seems to have gone back to 'Order Received'.

Should I be worried? xD. I've never had a problem with Dell Australia before... maybe things are just getting a bit mixed up and all will be well soon enough.
