    Well...
Sort of... I did buy a new 2TB HDD and stick it in an external eSATA / USB2 enclosure. I can put the movies, & music on it. Can't install software as that actually drops DLL's, etc. that the OS needs to know about.
Problem is that my rackmount server machine is getting so outdated that it doesn't have an eSATA port on the MB, just USB 2.0.

Ever try transferring hundreds of GB's of data over USB 2? UHG! Reminds me of my first PC (a Commodore VIC-20 w/ a cassette tape drive).

Soooo I was kinda waiting for laptop to show up and speed the transfers up a bit. Oh well... Seems like I have time now.

ooops wife calling me to bed... looking forward to playing with that software too... and at least that is here!!

Ahh lucky. I'm currently saving up for the exact same one for mine also. Hopefully mine will come with the 2nd HDD set up so I can just pop it in once I buy it. As for me.. SC2 Beta is waiting for my M17x. Just got invited!

SC2 is great, but why wait for the M17x? I got invited back in December and never installed it until last week when i hooked up my desktop. Runs great with a 9800gtx+ with maxxed settings. Even my dinosaur from 2001 could run it. The netbook cant but anything else probably could

I don't have a computer that can run the game. I'm surfing the web using this gateway laptop that can barely run Half Life one! I did have M1730 but I gave that to my younger brother so.. No computer for me. :(

**I have a habit of keeping ONE nice computer. I don't know why.. Plus I wanna play the game at eye candy setting! :D**

I got a call from a CS the other day to tell me my M17x-R2 was still scheduled for a 26th EDD and I asked oh so it is still in the build stage? She replied that once they get all the parts together they will start building my notebook. So apparently you just sit in queue nearly a month then the actual build stage only takes a few days to a week. That makes more sense then it actually taking 4 weeks to build it.

I'm not sure. When I use the automated system calling it says I'm in the build stage, same thing online. I was in pre-production in the beginning but it did go into production a few days afterward. So maybe I didn't hear the CS correctly.

Ahh then I'm sure yours is in production. CS reps usually make up stuff in order to fill the excuse box. Surprisingly.. you me Wahaha, we all have 820QM and have all the same EDD date. I hope we all get ours on time!

And you are going to be waiting for a long time, drake :(

Sorry to hear but the R2 has fracking crazy lead times.

If you do get an M11x from Best Buy, you can return it without a restock fee. Just use my old AHCI BSOD trick.

    Works every time ;)

    Nope.

All they do is turn it on and once they see a BSOD they don't ask any more questions.

I don't think the geek squad would even know where to begin troubleshooting stop errors. lol

My system finally went into the boxing stage... but the EDD changed from 4/19 to 4/26 ... 3rd time delayed =/. How long have your systems typically remained in the boxing stage?

First you have to uninstall and delete the AHCI drivers in Windows via device manager.

When you reboot, change the BIOS SATA operation to IDE before you get into windows.

Once you get into windows, you will be using IDE SATA mode.

Now reboot and change the BIOS SATA operation to AHCI and shutdown the computer (alternatively you can reboot to make sure you are getting a BSOD).

Proceed to the place of purchase with no restocking fees upon return :)

I know how you feel doublee!
I ordered mine on the 12th of March. I just need it here before I go. Getting it shipped to my temporary duty station before leaving would be complicated and a mess. I would end having to ship the original shipping box back to my residence after I received it. (Can't take the box with me & it adds to resale value if I ever decide to sell it and upgrade, so I can't toss it either.)

So I just sit & wait with fingers crossed. :(

I feel for you GM, hope you can jump in line. I don't mind waiting for the M17X. (hoping for 5800s) My M1710 is ready for the glue factory, so if I need to go to China in the next couple of weeks, I will have to get something off the shelf for business use.

Haha. I wouldn't mind if I had a laptop to play with. The only game this laptop can handle is Half Life 1 and playable meaning 30-40 fps. For some damn reason if there's an area with blinking light or if I turn on my flashlight, my fps drops to 5 or so. I'm thinking of beating the whole thing again just to kill time. :D Hopefully everyone will get it very soon!

My EDD is 5/14/210. Does anyone think that the 5870s will be going into systems by then. My rep seemed to think so (sales pitch). I am happy to wait this long if I can get the newer GPUs. ;)
