M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

Less than 2 weeks for my EDD. Hoping I go into boxing early this week.

Well, when I heard about the 5870's on Friday (aussie time) i rang my rep and talked about canceling my ordered (it had been stalled for weeks). I decided to see what unfolded over the weekend, lo and behold when I rang to cancel today she says it's shipped! Not sure if she is just trying to put off me canceling so it can be shipped and since the order tracking is screwed in Aus, I can't check. I would have tried to call a different cs rep, but it was late and a public holiday anyway.
Hopefully I can sort it tomorrow. Not sure if I want it to be shipped or not really. Well we shall see.

 

YES! Finally! My order is in boxing stage! I hope Dell brings out 5870s in 3 weeks so I can return it then reorder again. But in between, time to have a blast with this new machine!

Awww.. now I feel bad receiving mine while people are still stuck in "In Production" stage lol. I was surfing the forum a bit and I found out people got it Thursday when they went into Boxing on same week Monday. That means... I'm in school from 7 A.M. to 9:30 P.M... Sigh... This Thursday is going to be a LONG LONG school day..

 

Arrgh! Mine went into shipping friday, but now it is stuck in China due to the Icelandic Volcano and air space being closed

 

Thanks for the information, my replacement went into boxing as well and they already gave me free overnight delivery so hopefully I'll get mine on Wed. cause I work Thur, Fri, and Sat.

Although if it does get here Thursday I am sure my 17 year old son would be more than happy to open it and then proceed to lock me out of it.

 

Hahaha I would never let anyone touch my laptop. Not even unboxing it. I want that feeling after waiting for so long! I told my little brother if you even take off the tape of the box, I will beat your @$$ down . Tough LOVE!

 

But you plan on returning it right? So the thrill really will be meaningless.

 

Aww you just had to remind me that. I really don't know... If they do get the 5870s out during the 21 days policy without a doubt I'm returning. BUT if they don't bring it by then... I might just keep it because who knows when Dell will bring em out and I don't wanna wait without a laptop. It kills me inside slowly...

 

It's definitely coming in a less than 10 days. You're not going to want to return it after opening it and getting your games and other programs installed. Then you'll suffer from buyers remorse. So to save yourself from all that trouble, don't open it, just return it right away and get back into the order status thread lol.

 

No no. My plan is to buy another M17x with 5870s if it comes before 21 day policy then play with the current M17x and return it with a fresh install. I'm not going to return this one this easily! You will never break me into your devious plan!

Sometimes they take it back within 21 days if there's a defect. Otherwise you gotta pay a restocking fee. Well I'll be selling my R2 soon and then it's back to the waiting game..

 

If you tell them you're going to reorder something, they'll take it back without restocking fee.

 

Oh so restocking does apply.. I'll just try to haggle to avoid the restocking fee if not I'll just sell this locally. I'm sure I can make some money out of it.

My order got cancelled for the 4th time yesterday this month, and I have enquired as to why. This was the following response:

"The original order was cancelled due to the reason of missing parts in the original order. The new order management did not compile out all the items that is needed for the order. We have just switched to a new order management system and frankly speaking, it creates a lot of problems and we're resolving it as soon as possible."

So to any Australian users who've been having the same ordering issues as I have been, this is most likely why .

My M17x has been re-ordered and straight away it went into the 'Work In Progress' stage, so I am much happier now. Wheee!

It is in fact true. Said that when I returned my M11x and even my shipping costs were refunded.

 

did you give a reason for the return?

 

It was a "denied" parcel so they had to take it back, and got away with no restocking fee when I said my requirements had changed and I was going to order an M17x. Drastic size change, huh?

 

but, i wouldn't have a drastic change? i need to talk to my rep about canceling now or letting it ride

 

The reason is you want to order a different computer from Dell. They shouldn't give you any issue about it and if they do, hang up and call a different rep.

 

Still in boxing stage, I sent an email to the senior resolver that I was talking to last week asking him if he could look into it and get me a shipping date. That way I can make sure someone is here to sign for it.

Little brothers and sisters are different than your kids, Michael knows better than to open it but I am sure he would if he thought he could get away with it. About 2 months ago I bought him a new Asus, nothing special just a 600.00 laptop at best buy, and I offered to trade him my M1730 for it and he said no, now that I am getting a new Alienware he keeps asking me if I wanna trade. I keep telling him no, you had your chance.

 

Ok some news, there is / was indeed a keyboard shortage but i was told they had resolved that and he finally gave me the EDD with NBDS - 5/7/10... christ i hope it doesnt get delayed EVEN MORE.

 

Just called Customer Support and they told me that my order " IS NOT" back ordered nor does it have any " shortage of parts"... I think they're fibber's

I just want my M17x!

Called in yesterday

Was told many parts on back ordered

Esitmated Date of Delivery: May 26, 2010

Typically a decision like that is made by mods.

I cancelled my order with my rep on his recommendation that we not go through the return dance. I will reorder when 5870s are available. Hopefully soon!

my deal wasn't quite as good as yours, bet you can replicate it. you know you won't be happy unless you have the 5870s. CANCEL YOUR ORDER, you know you want to.

What has been the case lately if you are going to order with DPA and EPP like it would be for me ($5,000+ open on my DPA ). How much of a discount are you squeezing out of your reps?

 

Minimum 10% but try for 20%.

 

Yet another day in boxing, my resolver is supposed to check on my order and call me with a shipping date tomorrow.

Since my unit is in boxing I am a bit more confident in talking about the concessions he is working on for me.

5870's in crossfire when released, i7 720, 8G of 1333, last on the list and first to go is a blue ray reader/burner. While the blue ray reader would be nice I think the others would be of more benefit. Since they would increase overall system performance.
