Your M17x will get to my place on monday.

I'm home and got my 940xm in the new system. Everything works great so far. Cosmetically not much to complain about. The palm rest could have been a bit more evenly cut/molded but it's no big deal. So far so good. Now it's ur turn on Monday jubbing. Here's a run with a mild OC and no CPU overclocking. BTW Jubbing, now that I'm home hop on Steam so we can discuss shipping.

Oh yeah one thing I noticed is Dell changed the motherboard slightly. This new one doesn't have the connector for the CCFL display like my other older R2's had.
-
It's sooooo stupid how the Fedex place is 10 minutes away from joker, and they're waiting 4 whole days to deliver it... won't even let him pick it up.
-
Is it just me or you can't check your detailed order status anymore when you call 1-800-283-2210 with options 4 2 1 1. Now when I choose 4 it just asks me to describe the technical problem. Does anyone know any alternate number? I'm tallking about the order status where you can check if your stage is build, boxing, etc.

for cell/iphones/blackberrys;
8002832210,,,3,,,,your order number here
when I call now, I get "processing", what the ..., is that the new "boxing"? -
Considering my brother ordered his four months ago and had to wait about 3x as long (didn't even get into build for a month), it appears that having an operator expedite your order while it is being placed is a good way to go. Heck, when they're trying to make the sale they don't have much of a choice in the matter. -
I think that the "build" stage before really meant they may still be gathering parts, not neccessarily being physically built. I hope processing doesnt mean that nothing has physically been done yet. I dont think you can expedite any higher once you get this far.
*I just called again and it says currently being processed, which means nothing. I called and the phone reps say the same thing, they cant see the status. -
I was on the build stage, it used to say boxing next, but I guess they changed it, I should have mine in 3 or 4 days.
-
I placed my order the last friday, call them at Saturday to confirm the payment and they did, but, this still on #Processing Order", does anyone know how much time this take to be "on production" ?
Thanks guys -
-
-
Mine shipped today, I will recieve it tomarrow. I guess processing means two things, before the "build" stage and after the build stage. Mine when strait to "production" when I ordered it on June 9th, when to "processing" on June 18th, shipped June 21st. So it looks like it's two weeks until you get your system right now. Don't forget to call custumer service after you order to get fast shipping (NBD).
The automated phone system is alittle more up to date also.

Wow.. now this is what you call a quick replacement. Same specs as mine, except i520 not 940XM.

It's already been shipped today by fedex.
1 week.. Just 1... -
so is there a new way to get the stages when you call for status?
Thanks

Mine shipped out too. Phew. -
Here's to both our systems finally being problem free (and if not.. $50 Dell vouchers for everyone!) -
Alienware REALLY needs to get a handle on it's quality control. Out of the 4 systems that have been shipped to me lately (between mine and Jubbings), ALL 4 of them had some sort of defect or cosmetic issue. Just to recap:
Systems 1&2: Me
--------------------
System #1: Dirt smudges inside the LCD (about 4 of them) and dead pixels.
System #2: Small scratch on the side of the chasis (no big deal, its very small but shouldn't be there), terrible keyboard (Dell has 2 types, this one was the crap one), display hinge that was broken (it made a loud creaking noise and the display had about 10 degree of play), defective right GPU fan that made a grinding noise.
Jubbings:
----------
System #1: Dirt under the LCD + dead pixels
System #2: Dead/dim keyboard lights.
Fortunately I had the first 2 systems for both of our M17x's so I swapped parts and built frankenstein machines that are trouble free. But NOBODY should have to go through this hassle. Just to swap the hinges for my machine and doing other work + on his machine took me the entire day. I'm a med student by trade, will be a doctor in a little over a year. I should bill Dell for my time wasted. -
I think you should. Complain. Dell's reputation is hanging by a thread.
-
No wonder you've been MIA joker.
-
When you get yours let me know what extras you got, like headphones or the hat... I hope we get nice stuff! -
About the stuff, well, i just expect the Gap and the Mouse pad, no more, i dont think they will gift me any headphones :/ -
About the delivery, you'll have to be patient then! I better not miss the mail guy tomorrow, since friday is a holiday here, so then it will be delayed untill monday...
I'll be staring to the street all day hehehe -

TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
I ordered my M17x-R2 with an i720 and a pair of 5870s early in the morning on June 30th with overnight shipping. We'll see when it gets here. Also, I've been checking the initial email and calling the 1-800-433-9014 number for status. Is there a more accurate source?
-
Not to my knowledge unless you call a Dell rep.
-
I ordered mine June 29 with 3-5 day shipping and Crossfire 5870s. It shipped on July 9 and is predicted by FedEx to be in my hands on July 13.
-
I order my M17x R2 on 7/13. It's in the In Production phase right now. Great thing is, the charge for the system dropped off my card and Dell's support and order status systems have completely crashed. And even the phone support seems messed up, because it tells my they answer from 8-9 CST 7 days a week, yet it's 10AM on Saturday and its after hours.
I just want my new laptop -
I order mine since 18/July/2010 and today 17/July/2010 isnt arrived yet (colombia, seems like a local carrier have it but Dell dont wanna give to me the Track number because of privacy politics and that stuff)
i wanna kill someone right now about it

And I failed both. My M17x EDD was Aug 31 but I'm not be back home until tomorrow evening so I asked my friends to receive the M17x for me. However for some reasons they were not home on both Aug 31 and Sep 1
Tomorrow noon is the last day (3 attempts only right?) but there will be nobody home
I don't know how it will work out for me. I also really worry that FedEx guys are abusing my package at their store since they surely hate those who get them carrying a 20lbs bricks around for 3 times, right?
-
Weird, don't they have some note they leave when you are not home or try call them for a date where you are able to receive the packet. Really strange contact information politic you describe.
-
I'm from Canada and my Purolator guy comes once, then he leaves a form saying I have to pick it up from the depot. Is that option available to you?

I Got Mine Today!!!
-
I'm very impatient. I ordered mine on the 25th which was a week ago. I have next-day shipping and spoke with a rep who said they would 'expedite' the build process.
The estimated delivery online still shows 09/09/2010. I was really hoping to have it in time for the three-day weekend and FFXIV beta. Bummer. -

Congrat on the system
It will be around 2 weeks max recently. Normally within 10 days I believe. -
Yeh around 2 weeks sounds about right. 10 working days.
3 weeks at the very worst. However it should be no more than 2 weeks from when they received your order and put it through for production. Once its complete its just all about shipping it.
Great system by the way!
Cheers. -
I ordered mine on 9/7 and received it 9/20 with next business day shipping.
-
Woah, look at all those free upgrades lol j/k
Very nice system for that price, i would pay like 5000$+ where i live for that setup. I paid almost the same for mine (see sig) as you paid now for your specific setup. And i still want to upgrade to the 940XM and a SSD, but i would not pay dell prices for that, if i can do it by myself aswell
My system took 15 days from ordering, to delievery.
Gotta love that article number: 1 330-5090 Thank You for Purchasing AlienWare $0.00 And it's for free! -
Going to throw in a 256GB SSD and 500GB XT drive. Is it ok for me to clone the 250GB drive to the SSD??
-
I have the same setup basicly 120gb SSD and a Momentus XT 500gb
