Nice, I wonder what I can get for my M6500 when i put it up for sale. Also do you take your laptop around?? To be honest I will take it around here and there but not alot of moving.

Are you planning to use the SSD that came with your m6500? If so, your buyer might end up in trouble when he needs to send the system back for an exchange. I believe Dell requires everything it was shipped with in one piece. Just a thought.

You sure?? I am putting in 2x 500gb WD Drives in there. Should that be a problem selling??

Did those 500gb drives come with your m6500? There's no problem is selling, but I think it is best to sell your m6500 the exact way it came so that your buyer can fully exercise his warranty. You need to include everything that is listed on the service tag to get a system exchange if that's ever needed.

You can easily add +$700 or more to your current price. They go for like $350-400 each. You can get more faster and reliable 256GB SSD's with the extra money. :)

I just bought an R1 Q9000/GTX 260M that was previously ordered new from the Dell outlet for just over $1100. What can I expect, and what tweaks can I expect to make right off the bat?

Admittedly, there are tons of answers within the forums, but I've only just had an opportunity to start rolling through the forums.

I recently ordered a new M17x-R2 and it's status was just changed from in production to Delivery preparation! I never saw that status before. Does that mean it is close to shipping?

    Thanks!

How long did it take people to get their m17x? My estimated delivery date was for tomorrow, 12/7/10, but still says in production :( I talked to someone on the phone and he says I might not get it tomorrow. Does it usually go over? It's 4:27 pm now and not sure when their facilities actually close to be sent out. I'm thinking that since I ordered my laptop before Thanksgiving the estimated delivery date probably is wrong since the workers were probably off for the holidays. I really wished I was getting it tomorrow. I did next day shipping too.

    Getting impatient now...

I am getting a M17X replacement for my trusty old M1730 (I say trusty, but it went through 4 motherboards / replacement screen etc)
The replacement was agreed a couple of weeks ago, but I rang and added a couple of extra bits to it last week (Monday 6th December). Currently they are showing an estimated shipment date of 6th January 2011

I guess the Christmas rush has pushed it right the way back. I called and Dell to change the order so that it could be delivered in time for Christmas, but they said the order could no longer be changed?

Does this really mean I have to wait another 4 weeks before it arrives

So, my m17x r2 that was supposed to be delivered today has been delayed for unknown reasons until on or before Jan 3rd.

This displeases me greatly given that on the 15th and again on the 16th I called to confirm that it would indeed be arriving today and as such I made arragements to get time off from work in order to be here to sign for it. This wasn't a simple matter of taking vacation time either, as I have none due to using my vacation time for a recent military commitment.

Has anyone had any luck in working with Dell to get "extra's" on their system or support due to delays like this?

I'm currently waiting for a box of broken bits to arrive

My new M17X has already travelled half way around the world, and I still haven't received it. I think they should have turned the webcam on to take some pictures during the journey...

Ordered mine 12/15/2010 and still no word. I ordered from QVC and you cannot just call Dell and get a status. When you call QVC they just say "Dell will update us when it has shipped". I have learned in the past, it may be at your door before they update it on their web site. I wish I know how long it was going to be

Nothing special in my order, RGB screen, Nvidia 285 Single, i740, etc. Oh yea, EDD was 1/14/2011

So i ordered mine last night and my Estimated Delivery Date is February 8th. It's in production as of today.

Based on your experiences with buying Alienware, is the EDD usually accurate or does it come earlier?

Well, when I first ordered the then-new m9750 from them, the estimated delivery date was about 2 months ahead of when I actually got it.
But I think they've gotten much more accurate since then.

    Hey,

It says it is shipped now but the estimated delivery date still says January 31st. Seems like an extremely long shipping time. It is whatever shipping is included in all the prices, my rep made it sound like its usually 2-3 business days.

Also I have no link to a tracking number or who they shipped with. It says for more information next to the shipped tab to "SIGN IN"

I never made a Dell account and the rep did that for me for the discount etc.

Is there a way to find out the tracking number or will it just be a surprise when I get it?

The reason I care is that I live in an apt building so they cannot deliver it. Always have to find the depot of who's delivering and sometimes thats a hassle.

Want to be prepared to where i'll have to pick it up. I'm assuming UPS or Fedex for Canadian shipments?

Thanks for any past experiences! Excited for the R2, hopefully it doesnt dissapoint . My first CF laptop.

So weirdest thing...I financed $1000 of my order on the DPA and put the rest on my debit card. Today, I noticed the "(pending)" status was gone along with the amount of money and my account was back to having that amount of money in it.

Frantically called the Dell rep to make sure production wasn't halted and he said it wasn't (apparently, once it's in production the money is already processed) sooo now I'm wondering if I pulled off a $1000 R3 lol

I don't think so. It'll probably just get deducted in a few days / a week. The same thing happened to me when I bought about $60 of Steam games over Christmas break. First it was pending, then it completely disappeared, but I still got the invoice and everything from Valve. About a week later, my balance dropped by $60 lol :p

Nope you didn't lol, happens any time you order anything from Alienware or Dell. They run the preauthorization to ensure your account is good for the amount, release the authorization, then they charge it permanantly once it ships out. They do that because getting a refund takes like 30-60 days with them and if something goes wrong where they can't get you the computer it would end up being ugly :D

So what's the cheapest anyone's been able to order the base/stock config+GTX 460M for? Do you think the csr would let it go for under $1200?

I didnt order the stock one, but I'd say under 1200 is a near impossibility. So assuming before taxes a stock one is 1499 + $75 (for gtx 460m) is 1574. So you would have to get almost $400 worth of discounts... You can get that low with the Armed forces discount (If your in the armed forces obviously) but otherwise...

I talked to a few different reps, including one that was recommended... I did get them to bend a little on some stuff but really in general I think theyre fairly firm on the pricing (for now).

AAFES starts at $1099 for base model if you qualify for the discount...give or tax the discount is 30% for all models and upgrades and then tax free on top helps a lot. Now go join the services so you can get a m17x r3 =p

So what's the discount good on? Is it 30% off anything? Or just for the lappy only?

So i'm assuming these should be shipping out on monday? I have an EDD of 2/8/11 and i ordered on 1/12/11. However, i know it does not take more than a week to build any laptop and mine has been in production since the day after i ordered.

Did anyone notice that most of the drivers are now available for the R3? Looks like Dell may start shipping soon... It would be nice if the delay in shipping is due to finalizing the software rather than waiting for parts.

My order status changed today from "Build Stage" to "We are currently preparing your order to be shipped". Maybe that is the new boxing stage. If so I should see it shipped no later than Wednesday.

How do you have such specific statuses?

When i check my order status on the dell support website the only possible statuses are: "in production, pending, shipped, changed, canceled, order processing" and currently mine is "in production" as it has been for over a week.

Status for my R3 changed today to "Delivery preparation." It had been In production for over a week. Expected delivery date still shows 2/10/2011. From my past experience with Dell, I have seen the expected delivery date never change up to the point it got to my door. Although the status itself seems to be reliable. hopefully it ships out Monday. :)

The base price starts at $1099 and roughly what ever the price is on dell for the system it will be 28%-32% less on AAFES and i believe tax free as well.
