Just called to check my order status
"This order has shipped and is in transit to the carrier. You will receive a tracking number when it arrives with the carrier."
/pause 2 seconds
"This order shipped March 23, 2000"
Looks like it doesn't work with Canadian orders haha
-
I would guess that means it's shipped and has been assigned a tracking number that was previously used. Once FedEx (or whoever the shipping company is) updates the info you will know your real delivery date.
-
Yup just called and mine is reporting this status as well. Ordered on 1/12/2011, still shows EDD of 2-8 though. Must be taking the really really slow boat from China...
-
The initial EDD is always conservative. Once the shipping company gets it, it will update. Normally takes 3 days from China to local hub.
-
Thanks! I got the "we are currently preparing your order to be shipped" status. Sounds good to me, looks like it could ship monday in which case it would arrive way earlier than the EDD and i will be a happy camper
-
That'd be pretty nice if true!
Every order I've made with Dell gets to my door within 36 hours of status being updated to "shipped". -
seems like im pass the boxing stage and am at shipping stage now!

In boxing stage now, will have mine by weeks end.
-
for those whose R3 is in boxing stage, when did you place your order?
-
i placed my order on 13/1
-
whaaatttt? I ordered mine on 1/11 and it is still in build stage
-
what was your config?
-
I ordered mine on 1-14 and my order status says 'delivery preparation' as of yesterday.
I have the 3d combo with the 460m and the screen. The processor was the 2720. I also had the bluray drive and it's soft touch black. Everything else standard. I live in California. Maybe location makes a difference? -

I am from MA -
Hmm... Maybe they didn't have enough stock on the 2820s. Reading several posts back, the guys in 'delivery preparation' have the 2720s including myself.
-
ordered 1-12, in boxing stage... good times.
-
Usshellfire and johnnobts where are you finding your order status? It looks like you copy and pasted it from the internet but the dell support site doesnt have specific statuses like that.
-
1-800-ALIENWA Option 2
-
(Not sure if this belongs in this thread, but...) : What will the price difference be for R3 w/ ATI 6970 gpu vs. GTX 485M vs. the current GPU selection?
-
Ordered mine on 1/11, its still in the build stage, estimated ship is 2/3, and EDD is 2/4...Gahhh
-
Definitely wrong thread...
My online status says "In Production". But 1-800-ALIENWA says "preparing for shipping". Ordered on 1/14 with 2720 and nVidia + 3D package + bluray + 6300. -
Should that question be put in the Owner's thread?
Thanks
-
Maybe make a new thread? Eurocom charges around $400 for the 6970 and $900 for the 485M. So, I'd guess it was somewhere around a $200 to $700 upgrade from the 6870.
-
-
So in other words, VERY expensive compared to what's offered currently.
Man, I hope ATI offers a 3D solution soon. -
If you want an ATI 3D solution, you'll have to go with an HP Envy 17 3D. The reason you probably will never see it offered on the Alienware is because the emitter built into the laptop only supports NVidia's 3D Vision glasses. At some point, you may be able to get the 120Hz screen and a separate usb dongle emitter that supports ATI's HD3D - but it isn't guaranteed to work because it may not synchronize with the screen. And it is unlikely they will certify the Alienware laptop for HD3D like other 120Hz external monitors.
-
Only thing holding me back really is the massive speculation we're all having about Optimus/Intel HD 3000.
-
i dont think alienware will dare to claim that the M17x is optimus ready, and yet sell a product that does not support optimus at all. thats just asking to be sued.
-
Mine shipped. Arrives wednesday.
-
^ nice! i've still got to wait till friday! looking forward for a mini review from you

Congrats man, anybody else had an issue with online showing "In Production" and the phone saying "Order Processing"?
-
Right now my website status is "In Production" and phone status is "We are preparing your order to be shipped". I ordered on the 12th as well but it hasn't converted to "shipped" yet.

This is really getting me close to cancelling my order....I ordered on the release date, Dell messed around, cancelled my order then promised it to me by 1/26-1/27 at the latest due to their screw ups. My EDD now states 2/10/11 for something that was ordered prior to a lot of the other orders and the phone states it's not even being built yet.
-
I was going to cancel my order to get the $200 discount but changed my mind. I figure if I return this one within 20 days or so for the 485 I'll need that $200 anyway to help cover the cost of the card. Plus I wanted mine ASAP of course
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
You and me both, hence the order on release date.
-
i couldn't complete my order on release date since the 120hz option was de-listed. my order with 3d was in my account cart to buy but the online sales rep walking me through my purchase pulled my order off the screen and said, "sorry, 3d is no longer available at this time." so i ordered the next day. could have gotten mine tomorrow still if I splurged for overnight shipping...
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
I ordered mine release date(without 3D), they had to cancel it due to some "screw ups" on their end and replaced the order for the 3D bundle with no additions other than the 6300 Wifi, the sales rep/dps rep guaranteed delivery by 1/26-1/27 and I still show absolutely no inkling that will happen, EDD=2/10/11 Phone="Order Processing"
-
@ DaneGRClose
dont forget : its only an estimated date. meaning, you can (and probably will) get it earlier... -
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
I realize that but a promised EDD by a DPS rep should be met, and 2/10/11 online means it won't be anywhere near the promised date.
-
do you have any kind of documentation of their promise? words mean nothing unless you have proof.
while if you have - make a call, tell you got email stating ... and demand it to be shipped earlier or ask how can you cancel the order. at the veeeery least they will give you a discount. for call i suggest using order modification department. these guys' job is not to make you cancel the order, likewise they will also try to persuade you that its kind of how it goes and bla bla bla - do not listen to that, be the furious client. always works, imo -
Agh my order is still "being prepared to ship" just like it was this weekend. I was hoping it would ship today...so i could get it this week possibly...oh well. i ordered on 1/12.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Le0- yes I have proof of the promise, we contacted the person about it and both her and her manager stated nothing more than "we'll try to get it expedited but we should have done it with the order...sorry" I've been through this a few times as I've owned a few AW's
thank for the help though.
-
Well im starting to think the phones/online status pages aren't exactly up to date on the real status of our orders. I bet yours has already been shipped or something.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
LOL, doubt it thanks for the optimism though, I've had that happen a few times but I've always gotten a call or shown a tracking number on one of a few pages, absolutely nothing even close to that.
-
Are you using the 1-800-Alienwa number? Makes you enter the order number twice.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
yup I am, I've tried the DFS line Dell line and AW line and all 3 say "order processing"
-
The AW line never said that for me. It went from build stage to being prepared for shipping.
-
LOL - I remember calling when my 17xR1 was inbound. It was nuts to say the least. The status via the DFS line would change from call to call. One moment it would say In Production, the next it would say it was in the boxing stage with an estimated ship date of xxxx. I recall on a few occasions entering the order #, hearing the status and then at the prompt to check on another order, entering my order# again only to receive a completely different status message - all in the same call! LOL
Hang in there guys... -
man can't wait till someone gets their hand on the r3, i'm very torn between an outlet r2 or a brand new r3.
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
There's a few people getting theirs tomorrow and Wednesday so you should have something soon inap
Yeah AW/Dell seriously need to get their systems in check, one of the largest computer companies in the world can't figure out their own computers....go figure.
