    Ordered two identical r3's 1/13/11 and one shipped today with edd tomorrow. Second system in boxing phase with edd 2/8/11. Original edd up til today was 2/10/11. Crazy.

    Yea it makes no sense. It's like they just ship them out at random. I ordered mine 1/12/11 with EDD 2/8/11. and it still says "preparing to ship". The fact that yours were identical makes it seem random.

    Yeah mine still shows as preparing to ship as well and I ordered on 1/12/2011 same configuration with a EDD of 2/8/2011. Wonder if its the engraving. I chose to use one of my avatar names instead of my real name. Wonder if they just have a ton of "Bob", "Frank", "Leon", but no "FancyPants327" (NOT a real avatar name of mine btw)

    EDIT: WHOA. i was right in my previous post. It had shipped earlier than this. It says on Fed ex its already arrived in chicago and will be delivered to my house tomorrow....

    chinese new year is from 3th of feb to the 17th of feb. most likely the first 2 days will be public holidays, and the other 13, it really depends, china being filled with chinese, im guessing that it will be longer then 2 days before the factory gets back up to 100% production capacity.

    Dell just called and said my option of 1 TB Raid hybrid drive (2x500 GB momentus XT) is not available any more, even though it was ordered last week (jan 19th).

    Just so you know, it is probably 4-5 business days before they take an order to production.

    Now I'll have to settle down on either performance, or capacity. These drives were the perfect compromise for me. Anyone else has ever been called back and asked to choose some other equipment because of unavailability?

    I have asked for a SSD upgrade 256 GB, to which I would add myself a 500GB hybrid momentus XT or 750 GB 7200 RPM for media data. The DELL rep is asking her supervisor. This is gonna delay the order :-(

    Yes, it was scheduled for february 8th. It shipped yesterday and arrived at my door today and i paid for the 7 day shipping.

    Don't listen to the 1-800-alienware number or the dell support status site. they both said mine was in production when it had already shipped and arrived in the US. The only thing that was accurate was FedEx's tracking system.

    ah... well, 1 week after you I made my purchase. quite strange thing with these deliveries. they didnt post any tracking numbers but they say that my backpack has already arrived. (it is to be delivered to my university's office, they should email me once it drops there). but when i click on status it says "in production", i click that - "order not shipped" .... stuff is crazy. dell does have to control its website as far as its their primare way of selling. hopefully ill get my "not so powerfull" r3 in a week.

    Received e-mail today, to be delivered tomorrow 1/26. Ordered 1/14 with EDD 0f 2/11. :smile:
    Shipped out of Chicago today, I'll have it in Dayton, Ohio tomorrow. :notworthy:

    Though I always get Dell deliveries within 1-2 days with regular shipping. Most usually come from Nashville.

    Ordered on 1/14. Have been checking every few hours in the last 2 days. Just now it popped from In Production to Shipped!!

    Shipped from City of Industry to San Diego, CA. Arriving tomorrow 26th (regular shipping)!

    But, I fly out tomorrow morning to east coast for work and won't be back until Friday night :(
