    1-14 = ordered
    1-15 = in production
    1-22 = preparing shipment
    1-25 = shipped

I ordered the 7 day shipping. Fedex tracking says its in City of Industry, CA. Estimated delivery says 1-27 to get to Sunnyvale, CA. Hope it gets there sooner :p

Does anyone know how long the AAFES deal will last for? And anyone know if the Navy Exchange Store has a similar deal or not?

    Thanks :)

I have got to figure out what in heck I did wrong to my order to not be getting it shipped out already. I ordered the base package(proc) + the 3d stuff + 3 year service warranty , that's it. So far my schedule is like this:

    1-12-2011: Ordered (DPA account)
    1-12-2011: In Production
    1-20-2011: Preparing to Ship

And that's where it sits, no movement since then. Called 2 days ago got reassured my shipment was in boxing stage, there were no back-orders and would be put to expiated and given free NBD shipping and would ship by 2-7-2011 at the earliest... What makes my order so different that they are predicting it'll take 11 days to put it in a box?? Sigh.

ALienware reps say the following all the time: its a built-to-order system. it doesnt have a specific delivery date, nor you can calculate it. "its built when its built". before or on the EDD, yes, im freaking out here to. last night i was dreaming about how i test my R3 which btw hasnt come yet, i was pulling on benchmarks, overclocking it n other stuff. its retarded, I dont feel comfortable about fantasizing on a laptop that probably has a week or two ahead of EDD. creepy :S

driazen, i wont put too much stock in dells website. when my alienware orion backpack was delivered to me, dell's website still stated it as order in progress.

also,my delivery status for my R3 just reverted back to shipping from factory when i know for a fact that dell will be delivering my R3 to me in around 10 hours time. how do i know, thats because the shipping company (not DHL or fedex) contacted me and arranged for delivery on the 27 at 2 pm.

for all you know, your R3 could be right on a plane on its way to you right now. or it could even be speeding its way to your doorstep any time soon.

or you could call them and inform dell that you wish to cancel your order as you will be leaving town soon, and you need that laptop for your work/school and you will rather buy an off the shelf laptop then wait till god knows when for the R3 to arrive. set a date, and tell dell that if the R3 doesnt arrive by then, you will be cancelling your order. im pretty sure your order would shoot straight to the top of dell's to-do list!

LOL, the same thing happened to me. i dreamt that i was unboxing the R3. and when i turned it on for the first time, it gave me a BSOD. that was when i woke up. didnt know if i should have been relieved that the BSOD was not real, or to be sad that the R3 was not here yet...

They all come from China these days. In the US you don't see shipping info until it hits the local shipping company's hub.

Is this the thread for asking about prices, payment methods, etc?

If so, may I ask what people would recommend paying for the 1699 bundle? Also, how much can one expect to haggle for the regular (stock) config+460M?

    Thx!

Im hoping mine ships today (NJ) My order went into "Delivery Prep" on 1/24, not to sure why it takes 4 days to put an item into a box and slap a shipping label on it, but then again this is my first alienware (R3), my EDD is 2/4 and I have NDB shipping...*Crosses fingers*

Well this is weird, this morn and the past 4 days it was in delivery prep, now its back into production, the phone system and the dell website both say this, although my EDD is still the same, 2/4...guess Im just really unlucky :(

    Got it!!!
Dell swapped my 1TB Raid (2x500gb hybrid drive) for a 256GB SSD because it's their "mistake".
This is a 425$ upgrade from what I paid!!!

    Now I'm getting
    2720QM
    256 GB SSD
    GTX 460M
    120Hz + 3D bundle
    Blu Ray
    Orion Backpack

Got 3039$ worth of laptop for 2210$. SICK

Now two question marks remain...The new order is identical to the first one, i.e. hybrid drives and not SSD. DELL rep says it is normal and that she could not have entered a new order that includes unavailable components.

Secundo, EDD was bumped 1 week away. She (DELL rep) said all "replacement" orders are rushed automatically and I should not rely on the new EDD. Gotta keep faith...

Unit has just entered production today :)

I got to thinking, I been checking my status a lot. I see people with same specs as mine ordered on 1/14 are stating to get theirs. That is about 8 working days so maybe mine will be that quick to :D . But my question is since they are built in China that means if my order is going to get an update most likely it would be in the middle of our night there day right? or I wonder do they build 24hrs a day. What do you think?

Yeah I called them and got a good deal and next day shipping so shouldn't be to long. I compared my dates to people getting theirs sooner and I think it will get here 2/3 - 2/8 as long as China gets done and it gets out of there before holidays.

most of china will be shutting down soon due to chinese new year. so your order might get delayed. chinese new year starts on the 3 of feb, and goes on till 17 feb. im not sure how many days they will shut down/lower productivity for, but the first 2 days are comfirmed.

    stock everything

While configuring, I noticed the date of 2/18/11 on the webpage. Sure is gonna be a long time...

Does anyone know how long it'll take for aafes/dell to email me the confirmation? Will I just have to wait till morning for the dell rep? Or was it supposed to be instant, like how it is when you buy from newegg, etc.? My confirmation receipt page had the date of 28 Jan 2011 on it, even though it was technically 1/27 here at that time (11:30pmish).

So Pretty funny, I just got this email from dell about my order.

    "Dear Dell Customer

A truck that was carrying your Dell system order was involved in a traffic accident, and the systems the truck was carrying were damaged. We are in the process of re-entering all the orders and will be expediting production on those orders. As well, we will be sending the new units out with next business day shipping at no additional cost to you.

Your new order number is xxxxxxxx and your new estimated delivery date is 2/15/2011 . If you have any questions, please call us back at 1-800-247-2076, option 2, to speak to a representative.

We value you as a customer, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience.

I ordered my R3 from the aafes/dell website on 1/18/11, and on 1/19 I received an e-mail from the exchange store saying that my order status had changed, and it had a link that said "track through Dell" or something like that. I would follow the link but it just said that it couldn't find my order. Finally on 1/24 the link worked but it showed my order date as 1/24 instead of 1/18. :( When I was configuring the laptop the EDD was 2/8, and after dell finally received my order, the new EDD is now 2/17. I'm hoping that it comes early like it seems to be coming for most other people.

I'm not sure how many people this will affect, but I wanted to post that my order, placed on 1/17, was canceled today with no action on my part. I didn't receive an e-mail or call from Dell, was just checking the order status page and noticed it said "changed". I called in and apparently it was canceled due to a "software compatibility" issue. According to the rep it was the Dell DataSafe add on that did it, because it is "end of life". Needless to say I am very miffed, especially since this is after I received 3 defective XPS 15s. I'm going to ask for some substantial compensation.

And to add insult to injury, when I asked one sales rep for compensation in the form of a discount, he said that Alienware is separate from Dell and that it is a 3rd party to the transaction, and that they never discount Alienware systems... right

Mine was cancelled too without notification....not online or anywhere. Had to find out due to a general query call to customer service. I have basically pestered them since then as I started to trust them less and less. This has resulted in my order being shipped today(remains to be seen). The cancellation caused a delay in my edd but complaining did me a favour.....a few times mind you as online chat blames it on telephone chat but persistence may of payed off. Hope you get sorted soon mate.

This happened to me with my L501X so I can offer you some advice.

    • Call Dell and ask to speak with customer care
    • Before starting your conversation, ask for the reps name, extension, and base phone number (Dell has like 20+ phone numbers in north america).
    • Politely explain that your order has been canceled without your knowledge or consent. The rep will "look into the reason why your order has been canceled" and put you on hold.
    • When they get back, they'll be sorry for the inconvenience and not know why it happened. This is where you politely ask to be transferred to an "escalation rep". Before being transferred, ask for the escalation reps name and extension, just in case.
    • Tell escalation rep about canceled order & multiple defective L501X's. They'll offer to replace the order with a new EDD. However, this is obviously unacceptable. Say no; you want the matter to be passed on to the regional operations manager (ie - you want to escalate the call further and get a call from this op.mgr).
    • Call back every 24 hours until you get to speak with op.mgr. This person will help you with your order in an acceptable manner.

I didn't even ask for upgrades when this happened to me, but got a few hundred dollars worth of hardware and a +3 year NBD warranty upgrade + expedited new order (which got to my door before the EDD of the canceled order).

Well I have some good news to report my EDD was set back to 2/10 even though I ordered on release date because of some major screw ups with my DPA and the original order getting cancelled. My order shipped today from CA and will be here at the beginning of the week :D :D :D :D
