I keep seeing people that ordered after me posting their system already shipped :( I even called my sales rep today and told him I'm canceling my order if it's not shipped by Tuesday evening because of Chinese new year.

I know how you feel kunekaden but I can almost guarantee you didn't order before I did, my first order was placed about 2 hours or so after release in the USA. I ordered at about 11:30am after it released at 10:00 am so I definitely know how it feels, as everybody else is saying just be patient. My order went straight from build to shipped, I didn't even have a boxing phase like most others had.

yeah your post was just the last one talking about shipping, so i quoted it lol. Dell's pretty good at rushing shipments that they've messed up on.

I didn't realize all these people had ordered on "launch day"

Hopefully I get this sooner than the EDD which is 2/16 right now :(

Last week I changed the wireless card and got bumped from 2/11 to 2/16. Not near as rough as others, but still.... arghhhh.

OK, so how many times a day is it normal to be checking email and the shipping date hoping that somehow they have bumped up the EDD?

Thank goodness for people like Dr J and Mandrake who have and are trying to share their experiences with us.

So I ordered on 1/27 (about half hour before the 30% deal was up). My receipt said 1/28, which is fine. Went to aafes and linked to Dell's tracking site, and it's in "Processing order" phase, and edd is 2/18. Is this true, or will Dell unexpectedly ship it later/earlier? Can anyone share any experiences with the EDD's accuracy?

Most of the rigs we've seen to this point have been earlier than the EDD, but especially with AAFES there's no telling. Most of the time you're at least by your EDD if not early.
pcgeek- check as many times as you want lol, I would say more than once or twice a day is wasted effort though, it's not as if Dell is going to have your system go from "processing" to the first failed delivery without you knowing in a few hours lol. My EDD didn't get bumped until it actually shipped, and my status went straight from build to shipped, no boxing status for me.

I don't know what normal is but I feel like I check it every hour, its killing me. and everyone that has got theirs seems to have 8 days from ordering so maybe that will be our case.

Hopefully, mind will be about 3 full weeks from my original order that was only cancelled due to Dell's screw up. I'm right there with you guys, this weekend is what is killing me the most lol. On the bright side I placed a large order with frozencpu.com and will have new paste/pads same day as the laptop, I'll be sure to post some pics and a tutorial along with results on the repasting :D

I just called and talked to our Sales Rep at Dell and told her I needed it shipped before the posted delivery date because they screwed up on our DPA and she had it released and shipped yesterday. (I am DaneGRClose's wife)

And just an FYI phas3d it wasn't expedited shipping it was expedited processing. You seem very ticked with Dell, either cancel the order or try to get something better and live with what you get. It's all going to depend on your negotiating skill and the rep you talk to.

As did I, still states it is 'in production'.... Now that I've seem that the 6970m is available in the UK I think I might call and cancel mine tomorrow too and re-order with the 6970m when its finally available on the US site (cant believe it hasn't shown up yet).

Chinese New Year is rapidly approaching so it may not even delay the order that long if they cant get them shipped before it starts.

What is this stuff about Chinese New Year? Do you people really think that production will cease due to Chinese New Year? It's next week... you can wait a few days, cant you?

Mainly I would like the 6970m if its going to be available soon in the US...

But as far as delaying orders I don't think anyone really knows how much it will... at the very least it could slow down production for a few days or it could be worse than that...

Yah, my order was on 1/28/11, and it has "7 day shipping" on the dell tracking site, so does that mean it should build and ship within 7 days, or should ship within 7 days of build completion?? I.e: does edd 2/18 mean it'll leave china on 2/18 or arrive at my house on 2/18?

well, my issue was i initially placed an order on the 14th. I tried to pay but for some reason since the charge was over $2k the Dell rep said it was rejected and I needed to get authorization from my bank. I called my bank and the rep stated Dell was crazy.

So, I tried to call a few days later (it was a very busy week) and couldnt get through to anyone to try to have the issue worked out. I left two messages and no one called me back. I finally was able to get through to someone on the 19th and had them first run my card again before trying to resolve the issue with my card not working.

My card went through with no issue. Order placed. That was now 10 days ago. My original EDD was the 4th of Feb and now it's the 11th. They canceled my first order and created another.

All of this would be a non issue, however I now need a laptop for a new office until my Mac is built. I dont want to lug this HP HDX 20 inch to the office every day for a month until we get our new Macs.

It's been only 2 days since I placed my order. The charge is "pending" in my statement, but hasnt posted yet. Is that why the dell status is still "order processing"? Should I/Was I supposed to call my bank/cc to let them know?

If you check your account on AAFES and follow the order link, there will be a track via Dell link in the lower left corner. This link will take you to your Dell order page, where you can sign up with Dell for notification when shipping, track what level of production your computer is in, etc. You can see the latter without having to register at the Dell site.

But yah, mine still says Order Processing, and there's still a pending (not yet posted) charge on my cc.

Have you tried calling the 1-800-Alienwa line yet dookie? Dell's website is poorly updated and the phone line seems to be a bit more acurate and updated. If you haven't dial 1-800-Alienwa, option 2, option 1, enter order number, wait, enter order number again and it will give you your status.

If you enter the info wrong it will try to connect you to a rep, if you enter it too slow it will try to connect you to a rep, if you enter it correctly and fast enough it should just be automated lol. But at the same time it may be different and not work for AAFES orders

Just checked it. It's still in "order processing" status. Then I tried to talk to a csr @ dell, but they're closed. I also called my cc this morning, and they said the pending charge had no problem with it/it's been approved, and that it should take 1-2 days normally for it to post. So is all this laggin because I just ordered (1/28) or cuz it's Chinese New Year over there?

Um if you ordered on 1/28 it won't show in production until probably Monday or Tuesday, doesn't necessarily mean it isn't already in production it just won't show that way until then. They don't seem to update the status over the weekend or they may not even do anything different over the weekend(put recently ordered products into production). I'd just wait and if you don't see something by Tuesday then call.
