    So what should I do once I receive it? When I first got my hp, I reformatted because I got mad at it the first time it booted up (1st gen launch units during the Vista era, which had a sticker "windows vista capable" but they weren't due to only 1gb ram).

    It's been 2 days. Still "Order Processing".

    EDIT: Guys, so weird. I just saw this in the slickdeals thread for the AW aafes deal... If you log into aafes, and try to purchase the R3 and add the 2820, it's "subtract $7.00" !! Amazing!! I tried it and it works!! But, too bad I don't have enough credit on my cc to add another one and take advantage of the typo/error! :(

    Someone should try to buy it before they fix it! GOGOGOOGOGOGO

    huh? Wouldnt u need to still be part of the aafes to use this? What are u saying if u upgrade to the 2820 it subtracts $7? I doubt theyll let that fly tbh

    Yes you have to be part of military to use aafes. Aafes will let it fly--they aren't the handlers. They just forward the sale to dell rep. It's dell that has to deal with it afterward. I'm pretty sure of this.

    So anyone with an aafes account should try to order it asap before it's taken off.

    I ordered on 1/28. My EDD says 2/18, 7days shipping. Does that mean it'll arrive 7 days after = 2/25, or it'll ship on 2/11 and arrive on 2/18? Noone answered yet.

    EDD = Estimated Delivery Date, not shipping date. Shipping date theoretically would be 7 days before that.

    EDIT: You ordered 3 days after I did, your EDD is 1 day later but I ordered overnight shipping? That doesn't make sense.

    I never got to select my shipping option. I guess aafes selects that for us. In my case it's 7day shipping. So it'll ship out on the 11th? hmmm.

    Actually, you kind of have to go out of your way to select a shipping option on Dell's website.

    Do you have to be current-active military for AAFES? Or just have to have been in the military at some point?

    From what people have been saying it seems they have (usually) been shipping out and getting to the customer a bit before the EDD. Shipping time seems pretty quick even with the people saying they god 7 day shipping.

    I ordered mine today. EDD is 02/16/2011. I chose the 6870m. I already have plenty of power in my gaming computer and do not care for 3d. I also would like the extra battery life for note taking in class. This computer seems like a very good deal. I have always thought of Alienware computers to be overpriced, but they are quite good compared to the competition.

    It says current, former, or retired is okay for aafes. Try it out. GOGOGO before the deal goes away (if it hasnt already)!

    I ordered mine on the 28th and it is the same EDD as yours. Gotta figure that's because of the weekend though :( Why can't Dell have a plant that has 24/7 operations , just have a night shift for when the day time people have off >.>

    I saw this yesterday as well. I configured out what I had previously ordered and it came to the same price. Seems when they stopped the 30% sale, they adjusted other areas to result in same price when ordering everything maxed...although I'm sure they didn't do it on purpose :) .

    I have the same EDD as you but I ordered on the 25th and have NBD shipping. Hopefuly they will get it out sooner. It's still in the Build stage.

    Guys, just called the 1-800-alienwa for the first time (thanks Dane), been relying on web site order status all this time. It says "being prepped for shipping" or something along those lines. How long does it usually take to be prepped? Does it say "in production" or "being built" on the phone prior to that (too late for me to find out, naturally). Please, I have virtually no nails now and my wife is making fun of me in front of the kids!!! Last night when we pulled in on our driveway, she said there was a large box on our porch and I WENT for it!!! On Sunday night! Doing a little happy dance! Please put me out of my misery

    Mine was in Delivery prep for like 5 days, then this morning i got an email that it will be on my doorstep tomorrow. Most likely it already shipped and they just didnt update the status until 3days after it shipped. Mine shipped 1-28 and they didnt update the website until today 1-31.

    Yea i read that too.... doesnt seem good. But, i called dell today and after speaking to 3 different reps, got my shipping expedited!! So it really does depend on who you talk to. The first guy just seemed like an , the second guy just seemed like he didnt really care, and the third person i spoke to was a woman who believed my 'sob story' and did everything in her power to make sure my shipping was expedited. FYI I ordered on the 25th and had an EDD of 2/18. I have not yet received an e-mail with my updated shipping info though.

    My husband (DaneGRClose) 's order didn't even hit the "being prepped for shipping" stage this time for the M17xR3. It went from "in production" to "shipped". I guess its just to keep you in suspence and to keep your fingernails from growing! :)

    Here's an update for some of you, which may offer an idea of where they are in completing and shipping out the orders. I ordered my m17x on January 19 - and according to the FedEx tracking, it should arrive in my hands tomorrow at 3:00! Sooo excited I pee'd a bit! My EDD was originally 3/10, so they're about 9 days ahead of schedule :p.
    I also didn't see a change in my account status - I found out because I was emailed my "receipt" from the original transaction, which freaked me out a bit because I thought that meant they just processed my payment. Called and found out the good news! My baby is being delivered! It's a boy!... of course...

    LOL. Nice. the order system has always been funky like that. At least for me it has. This last time around, I ordered a couple of Dell Desktops. Didn't even bother checking the automated system. A rep contacted me the next day (following my online order) and began checking status for me and sending me updates. Very cool and nice to see that type of 'service' from them.

    Wow, I ordered mine 1/22 and my delivery date is 2/17.

    I too had no interest in 3D and much interest in battery life when not gaming, but I went with the 460 since my experience with AMD cards and drivers has to this day been bad compared to Nvidia. I also do not run the latest/greatest games, and pretty much play WoW and Second Life. I might go to Star Trek Online at some point, but not soon and it will still run quite well.

    Mine has shown as "Delivery Preparation" for a few days now, so I have no idea when it will ship.

    Funniest or saddest part about this whole situation with my R3 is actually on Fedex's side now, my R3 has been sitting about 10 miles away from where we live in Salt Lake since Saturday and I won't get it til tomorrow as late as 7pm :confused: :mad: :confused: And thanks for welcoming the wifey, makes me spending more time on here ok when she is too ;) :D

    Just call Alienware and ask for customer service during business hours, you could also try to talk to the order modification department but again I think that's a 8am to 6pm CST line.

    Called Dell today during my lunch break. The csr didn't know about the Intel issue, but assured me that they'll solve it. He apologized for the problems this may have caused me, and sincerely empathized with me and my "buddies". So, he changed my shipping from 7day to NBD :) I then asked him if my "buddies" could call and do the same since they all ordered around the same time that I did. PM me for more info. Mod, lemme know if I'm breaking some kind of rule by posting this info, and I'll delete delete delete.
