    Ok, so I called today regarding the delay on my r3. I explained to rep that I hadn't gotten my laptop yet and wanted to know why others who had ordered the exact same laptop and the exact same configuration AFTER I had ordered had gotten their laptop and I had not. Of course the rep could not understand and just kept feeding me the "Sir, your ETA is Feb 11th and your laptop is in production".

    I've had some frustrating sales rep calls in the past but this one certainly ranks well up there. If this is how Dell treats their customers I can't see me ordering again.

    Dell hasn't said anything yet. Sager/Clevo said they will be receiving sample chipsets mid-February, and resellers should be receiving them by the end of February. Dell seems to always get the new chipsets first so maybe it could be before, I'm sure they could throw a couple dollars at Intel to get them :)

    The suspense is killing me. I though for sure my order would be getting prep for shipping by now but it is already Feb. 3rd in China so guess that means no laptop for a few extra days now. Wish dells order status was more accurate.

    Have you tried the 1-800-Alienwa line? If you're relying on the online status it's crap, mine didn't change until right before Fedex delivered it lol.

    doubt you will be seeing any movement of laptop for the next 2 days at least due to it being chinese new year in 30 mins time. and also given the fact that most pp would be at home celebrating with a reunion dinner today, i would say at least a 3 day delay for building of your order.

    Yeah I check both every morning and night and call randomly through the day. I check it a lot more than I should especially when I am at work and I am just sitting there bored, which is the whole reason I want this laptop. My shipping date went down 2 days but I was hoping to get mine in the 9 or 10 days it took a few other to get which would be mean it ships out today but since still in build don't look to good. And with China having new years in about 25min, because its 11:35pm in China right now only thing i can hope for is it is on its way to US by now so China Holiday wouldn't have a affect on it.

    Does the laptop ship straight form dell in China to me, or does it the laptop get sent to a US dell site to get packaged with all the accessories first then to customer?

    I work at a Fire dept and 24 hour shifts get long on a pos laptop that cant even play r3 reviews off of youtube b/c it freezes up lol so i just read these forums all day long

    I believe they send it to a US site to do final "pretty" packaging lol. The full presentation with the AW branded box, hat, etc I believe gets put together in the US.

    So in that case does the Laptop switch from build to shipping prep after dell in US gets it or would it do that when China gets it ready to ship to US site? Maybe so b/c my laptop could very well be on its way to Dell US where the status would be changed after arrival.

    Not 100% sure where they change the status, just be patient and stop checking so much and it will be here before you know it. Online my status went from "In Production" to Shipped to Delivered in about 10 mins lol, and over the phone mine went from "build stage" to "shipped" and completely skipped the packaging stage.

    lol I have slowed down on the checking, what time did your order get updated like morning midday or afternoon? I figure they all get updated at same time when the system is set to refresh.

    Around 6-9pm MST is when most of my updates ocurred, can't be exact as I don't exactly what time but that's about the times I checked that it was different.

    Just got a notice from DELL that scared me to death :(

    Refund from Dell Marketing bla bla in my paypal. I checked it and it was the XPS 17" I returned. I was going to cry if they cancelled my m17x order :)

    So I decided to head down to the depot and ask them to get the package for me. 30 minutes later, they found it! They wouldn't give me my HyperX RAM or OCZ SSD though :(
    I never imagined this thing would be so huge


    Not that I care, but I didn't get a shirt (or a plastic card for the SD thing above dvd/blu-ray).
    PS: The sound system does not seem to be as good as XPS L501X, but it's pretty decent

    I call everyday, multiple times even :p Mine's in the "Build" stage, with EDD of 2/16. Been this way for 2 days already. Maybe it's cuz tomorrow is Chinese New Year.

    My status (online and over the phone on 800-Alienwa) says In Production-Build stage. Could that mean that my parts are here in the US as well?

    Where do you go to see that tracking info? I bought mine through aafes, so they only have my receipt on there, and a link to the dell order status page, which doesn't even have anything for the billing or shipping info. It just says N/A for both.

    I ordered hours earlier than you (but on the same day), yet your laptops already in the build stage (mine just says "In Production") and has an earlier EDD (mines the 17th). I guess thats the benefit of ordering through AAFES.

    Mine says "In production" if I track through Dell. If I call the 800-Alienwa, Option 2, Option 1, then it says it's "In production, in the build stage." Something like that. My EDD was changed to NBD after I called to ask about the Intel flaw. I had an original EDD of 2/18. Now it's 2/16.

    Tracking info in my account? It's just the link I get through aafes. Same information I think though, if we had originally ordered through dell the regular way.

    so, after canceling the nightmare of an ordering experience that was the M17xR3 I ordered a loaded R2 from the Dell Outlet late last night. EDD 2/7 at the latest. Hope it gets here tomorrow as I ordered next day.

    I didnt haggle with a rep, just ordered online. I'll buy the R3 in the summer after the firmware and hardware matures and the 6970 is available.

    Dell called me. In Production is apparently "On Hold." The guy I talked to was following up on a previous call and I asked him about the recall and then he checked again and verified it is in hold status internally. He is going to call me back on the 8th
