M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

So, I just called dell and after 10 minutes finally got through to someone about the power adapter issue. I explained what happened and stated that i needed a new 240 watt power adapter overnighted to me immediately.

I was told by the rep and then by the manager (after I demanded to be transfered to someone who could actually help me) that nothing could be done until I give them the part number of the 210 watt power adapter they sent me. It's at home. I'm at work. So, i have to wait another day before I can begin the process of getting the correct power adapter sent to me.

This is ridiculous. I'm never buying anything from Dell again. i've never seen such incompetence.

 

When you (and others here on the forums) are having problems with dell, is it with an Indian/Filipino or a US csr? Just curious.

 

I never had a problem with my local (european) reps. I always got what I wanted if I kept my cool and dealt with the procedural stuff that they have to do in order to help you

 

You're lucky. Maybe it's like what that Dell Ordering Tips thread says, the American csrs might be kept on a "looser leash" ? I highly doubt it's the language/cultural difference, cuz their English is better than mine, lolz.

hurray, i went from two weeks of "work in progress" to "in production" today !!!

 

LOL. I've never seen "Work in Progress" before. Mine has just been "In Production," ever since the it changed from "Order Processing."

 

It took Dell over 2 months to build and deliver my M17xr2 and they finally sent it after i filed a BBB complaint. The dell reps are eithier a bunch of liars or incompetant, i would take anything they say with a grain of salt. And they did lie to me and couldnt give me a straight answer during my whole purchase experience.

woth the wait tho.

 

Why was it worth it? And what did they do to compensate for the delay?

What would you recommend me asking for in terms of reasonable compensation?

 

Because the laptop meets and exceeds all my expectations

They did nothing to compensate me. Some people had delays like me and were able to get a little compensation but dont count on it.

 

I want an extra M11X as compensation for my wait HEHEHE

 

I wouldn't mind a discount on a Logitech G27 steering wheel, or even a bump to a 2year warranty.

My EDD was updated this morning from 2/17 to 2/25. I placed the order on 1/29.

I'm just glad I don't desperately need a new system.

Sorry, I ordered the r3. My order date was 1/29, my original EDD was 2/17 and was updated today to 2/25.

 

well yea that's normal they just fixed the sandy bridge flaw

 

I would doubt that the Dell factory even has any mobo's in their hands yet, the earliest earliest shipments were supposed to go out yesterday and I kinda doubt that that first run is going to be to Dell yet if they even made the R3 mobo's in the first batch.

 

Myt original EDD was 3/3, but if they shipped yesterday its gonna be here way sooner

 

I bought myself a G27 wheel for Christmas for my desktop machine. Luuuuv it. The only thing I would give back is the shifter, since it doesn't have reverse and I use the paddles for everything.

I had a 12 year old Wingman Formula Force that wasn't supported anymore, got a 20% off discount by recycling it through Logitech and Cexchange.

 

I ordered my R3 with a Sandy Bridge chipset... Dell sent me an eMail cancelling the order a week ago and they still can't replace the order with anything similar...

Any ideas???

Just checked the order status on Dell website and my edd changed from 2/17 to 4/14 (updated). My order date was 1/18 this change happened within the last 8 hours since the last time I checked. Hopefully Dell is just being conservative. It already seems like I've been waiting forever. Two more months to go.

My R2 just left Kazachstan , on its way to germany now, from there little trip to belgium and yeeeey; I expect it tomorrow

 

theres only 1 week left before my EDD and it still has not shipped......... is there anything wrong??? It's an R2 so no sandy bridge..

 

So I chatted with a sales rep about some stuff on the alienware laptop and after I asked him to have detailed status about my order and he said my order was canceled.... on my account page on dell's website it still says "In Production" ... What's going on???

There is a good chance the rep was drunk at that time. You should try to call him or any other reps since they all can look into your account. Don't chat. Call them.

 

Call back and talk to another rep and ask why it was killed. Speak to a supervisor if you dont make any progress with the rep.

Not much we can do here. Could be billing related, could be anything. You need to call back.

 

Got an e-mail from a Dell csr two days ago asking if i wanted to canx or keep my order. I told them i'll wait. Was a great deal at 30% off. I ordered my R3 via AAFES on 1/31 EDD was 2/21 today it went to 4/18, plus the time it takes to get it to Okinawa. I'll see it in April. Good things come to those who wait.

 

My R2 Just arrived, i'm totally in love . Now I must nuke it, pop in the ssd and have fun reinstalling the thing I'm so happy !!!!

How long did they tell you it will be delivered by? I paid for 3-5 day shipping, and they're telling me it'll take 2-3 weeks to build (complete bull), so to the people who bought the M17X r3 the first time, if you guys did get it, how long did it take for you to get it?

 

2-3 weeks build is normal. So be patient

 

Eh. They said 2-3 week build time a year ago when I bought my Alienware M17X R1 and it arrived in 5 days. Trust me, it doesn't take 2-3 weeks to build a laptop.... :\

 

i know man, people here did received theirs even after more than a week trust me.

I think you should call Dell if you're not happy about this but i don't see what can you do to change it. I just told you that you can get it in a matter a few days as you can get it later.

 

for the people who ordered the R3 on the last go-round on the first day or 2 of availability, we all got out lappies about a week early...maybe a little less than a week less as i remember. but you never know....i think it will have more to do with parts and who knows how big a batch of chipsets they got in to replace the old defective SB. they may have not even had all of the parts when they opened up ordering, they may have just projected to have them in. Big companies like dell HATE to have inventory on hand to they use a method called "just in time" inventory....im not making that name up btw, its a real term. But if there is a delay, it holds up heverything. So in other words who the hell knows. Do yourself a favor and sign up on dells site for an email for ywhen your unit ships. Or jsut watch this site. I gaurentee within 10 seconds of someones order changeing from "in production" to shipped, there will be posts lol
