well the call was because i call before to know why the order wasn't showing on my account and they fix that and also give me free overnight but the lady call because she is following the case at least that's what she say and she say they will keep me informed

Yep their free NBD for any inconvenience is a huge plus. She e-mailed me back and said the order will hit production by the morning and that it looks good so far. I'm looking forward to reviewing this thing and picking it apart.

 

I love the free NBD, for the fact that they will give it to you for ANY reason, lol. Definitely a huge plus.

Why? the 2630 is about, if not on par with the 920xm.

 

Hey what about the Screen. 1600x900 versus the 1080p. What do you think, is there going to be a quality difference from one another concerning viewing angles. I'd prefer the 1600x900 provided that it is a quality screen.

920xm is a high-end CPU. It would be fair to compare against the 2820...

 

Go compare it via intel Funny how the last XM model beats our current mid-level CPUs... high-end indeed

 

The 2630 is high end in my opinion as well if it is as good as the 920xm...

 

Ok so I ordered 1/24 and my order is finally coming around. With a EDD 3/8, Friday it went to delivery prep. So I was all pumped up hoping that today, monday, it would get shipped and would be mine on the EDD but the phone and internet neither said shipped. So I call dell to see if I need to wait tomorrow on fedex and the main desk said they had shipped it and I was expected to get it today 3/7 but he didnt know why I didn't. He transfered me to customer service and their closed so now my order its lost kinda lol so maybe everyone with delivery prep has already been shipped like mine has.

 

The first time I got my R3, it changed to delivery prep on a Sunday. I received the laptop 2 days later on Tuesday (standard not next day shipping). Since I got delivery prep on Monday, I'm expecting to receive my laptop on Wednesday.

 

I've never seen a 900P screen before, so it might be hard for me to make the switch. although $150 for screen upgrade, to me I think they are asking too much, considering the R2 RGB screen was only $200.

Question: What's the diff between "NBD" and "Next Business Day Air". Someone said it in another thread, but I don't recall an answer, especially dont recall cuz I've been through like 20 threads today teehee

There is no difference... they are the same thing. They will ship during business days mon-fri. And I don't believe there's sat-sun delivery (not sure).

Correction (my bad) NBD is referring to the on-site service for repairs and such. Whereas the other means shipping. lol again might be wrong, but I think it's right

 

My order status has been changed to Shipped I ordered on 3/3 at 6am PST. It shipped from CITY OF INDUSTRY, CA (45 min away).

 

Lucky. I ordered the same day as you and for some strange reason, they cancelled the first order. Anyways, I was told that the build process takes 10-15 days but it seems that it's a lot quicker than that according to a lot of peoples' status updates on this site. I'm getting anxious and it hasn't even been a week yet.

 

Man your anxious i ordered mine on the 1/31 and fully charged on 2/2. I've already started paying for it. My EDD is still 4/18. I did get an e-mail today from my csr staying they are building it and she is expediting it.

 

I can understand your frustration more than mine. You and many others who ordered before the recall got screwed so I can sympathize with that reason. I also paid about 2 days after I placed my order and it sucks because I've never had to wait this long to receive something I purchased online. Let me know how your r3 is when you get it! I want feedback, haha!

I want to hear about your too with the ATI card, but it's a fast card. I've had bad luck with ATI/AMD's. Did you get your EDD?

 

My EDD according to 800-ALIENWA is 3/28/2011 so it's gonna be a while. Gotta keep myself occupied until then.

I reside in the Netherlands and i've been waiting for the R3 ever since it was announced. Does anyone know why (as far as i know of) not a single country in europe has the R3 on the alienware site? By phone and chat all the dell reps can tell me is to be patient and wait for it.

My current clevo is slowly dying after 3 years of intense use, and I need a new powerfull notebook quick. Could I order from, for example, the US site?

 

Mine is finally gonna get shipped. Got a Fedex tracking number today. Ordered on 1/28. Expected arrival date 3/10. I'm soo excited!!!

I stumbled upon a topic wayback January and it was about what to do first. One of the responders told the OP to create a recovery image by using a 8gb USB flash drive. I tried to find the topic but to no avail, so if anyone know can someone shoot me a PM on the how to? Thanks!

 

if you got a Seagate drive download this program and make an image of the entire drive with the restore partition and system reserved partition after you made the backup make sure you validate the image with the same.

the program has an option to create bootable disk media create one in case you need to restore your image

On the other phone line it says shipped with an EDD of 3/9
It literally just arrived at my office Getting ready to open it now

I think that 3355 number was the other number. I saw it on another thread, I'll try to find it and post it here.

Torai, I believe that was the european case (France IIRC). I went bananas myself when i read it first but then the clarification came couple of posts later They did have an option of ordering 6970 right from the first get go.

Dont worry. It will handle most games nicely. Remember this is a gaming machine, there are folks here talking about 460M as a "weak" card compare to xfire or 6970 but remember they are hard core gamers and I (maybe u too) am not so 460M is still a great choice. If you like 3D that much, I think the trade off is worth it. Plus you had a great discount while 6970 owners do not have

My M17x R3 should be here tomorrow (order date 25 Jan - caught in SB issue). More to the point, I currently game on an M15x with a 260m...I can't imagine a 460m would have trouble running anything!

 

I can't customize the personalized plate when I try to order through aafes. I was gonna order yesterday and I didn't because I can't customize it. That feature used to work in aafes. Can anyone shed some light on this or point me in the right direction to get this fixed?

 

I am not sure about aafes, but im wondering if you just order and then immediately call Dell and ask a sale rep to modify the order? My R2 rep was able to change the name plate after my credit card is charged, that means you dont have to cancel and reorder with ur credit card being charged twice.

 

Thanks bro, that's relieving. I prolly be happy with it as long as it could play modern/upcoming games smoothly while still looking good(not low on settings but not necessarily maxed out).

Dont forget that the 120Hz screen is also smoother than 60Hz

Even at stock levels, let alone OC'ed, I can play any game aside from Metro 2033 and Crysis 1 on Maxxed settings that I've played so far. Now when you enable 3D you may have to turn it down a notch or two on the settings but trust me a lot of people have made the 460m to look like a weak card, it's not, it's just not top dog which belongs to the 485m not even the 6970m. Nice rig, you'll enjoy it

And just an FYI those bench numbers are off, I'm pulling down nearly a 9,000 point GPU score in Vantage where they're showing a 6-7,000 point run, the Dell cards are a lot better performing than whatever they tested.
