Well 8 days isn't bad. I'm used to waiting about two full weeks for computers to arrive.

I've never ordered a computer online before, so I have no idea if my wait (ordered 3/7) is even reasonable, especially as I've been waiting essentially since 1/27, and with repeated promise after promise for expedite... my EDD of 3/30 is HIGHLY unsatisfying :( Saddest thing is that there's nothing they can really do, and nothing they're willing to do either...I'm most pissed, for those of you who dont know, because AAFES has already billed me = dell's already been paid, cuz aafes is billed by dell of course, almost immediately. That's why I may seem HIGHLY impatient, but in reality, I'm not. I'm already approaching the 2nd billing cycle of my cc since I ordered on 1/27 :(

Well you were billed the day you put the order in right? Its pretty standard to have your money taken from you first :p, that's online shopping.

Oh nvm you were billed on 1/27!! Dang! I kept seeing 3/8 in your posts so it made you seem much more impatient than you actually are. Hopefully you'll see your computer soon.

But the SB fiasco wasn't really their fault. If your laptop arrives on or before your EDD Dell upheld their end of the bargain.

I'm actually surprised they're upgrading some of you to NBD for free to be honest, but in retrospect, that's the least they can do for someone who's dropped the cash and hasn't seen a product for months now. I wouldn't expect them to upgrade me to NBD, since I ordered on 3/8.

Dookie i've been waiting for 15 months to order so don't feel that bad ;)
Finally ordered yesterday, so as far as i'm concerned now the wait is over not beginning :D
    Specs are 2720, 460m, 8 gb ram, 120hz display, 750gb HDD, EDD 4/12.
The way I see it (and many thanks must go to DaneGRClose who assisted me in making the decision ;)), is get the 120hz 3d display with a decent gpu now, and then upgrade to a better card later on that will benefit from that display, something the 6970 can't do unfortunitely.
I will add an SSD on my own once I get the beast, which will hopefully arrive faultless since I'm in Qatar and have to pay (and wait) for double shipping as well, first from Dell to New York, and then from New York to Qatar, so returing the laptop to Dell in case something is wrong would be such a pain in the a**

Dell's not supposed to bill you until the unit ships...But AAFES bills you same day, like regular stores. And of course, Dell get's paid immediately... That's why I've been mad/sad. Regardless of the Intel SB, they should've handled at least the paid customers first...

I too, have been "shopping" around and speculating for about a year now. Then when I got excited at the prospect of getting this machine, luck rears its ugly little head in, and wham! A product recall, and laggy production times...

Ditto on the coming up on second billing cycle. It sucks to be paying for something that you can't even use. Something that you haven't even seen in person yet. I just don't understand how people are getting them in 9-10 days (to include weekend days) and they ordered only a day or two before us.

I asked the sales rep on the phone when will my account be debited, he said the day the notebook ships. Well guess what, it what debited 10 minutes after I ordered!! I mean what sort of BS is this?? Did that happen to some of you guys? I mean what if somebody had other plans for the use of his money in that period knowing that the laptop definitely won't ship until at least 10 days, I really find this annoying

I called this number and it says that the estimated ship date is 3/31 and on the web the EDD says 4/5. I surly hope that they start cranking these out for all of us. My laptop is the only computer that I have, and mine is on it's last legs.

I canceled mine. I look at it this way, there is always something better just around the corner. I will wait until they have a steady stream of stock and another good deal occurs. That or I will look into some kind of 485m sli laptop / m18x?

Ok, just unboxed it and boy was the wait worth it. Did a quick Overclock, swapped the ram, and now making restore cd's to change my HDD to a ssd.

Boy is this thing fast and elegant, really feels like a 3k piece of equipment

Ill do some gaming tests in Crysis warhead BC2 GTA4 LFD2 Mafia 2 and Metro 2033 after I finish installing everything, ill make a thread and post everything... Is Fraps frame calculator free>>??

Well decided to call today, to see where my R3 is. Told the guy that I ordered on the 5th and can't understand why other people are getting theirs who ordered after me. He said let me check and then came back and said he would send a email telling them to expedite(yea right). I did get next business day shipping though.

Having ordered mine on the 12th of January, I believe now that the R3 is a myth. I don't believe anyone has their hands on one right now. I mean, how are folks who have ordered theirs on the 7th of March have one in their hands and I don't? So it is all a myth and the laptop does not exist.

Ordered through AAFES on 3/9. (was actually 3/8 but almost midnight, so we'll call it 3/9) Still says in production. Phone says the same thing. Estimated shipping date 3/31 (automated phone call) EDD as per order page, 4/5

I really hope to get it next week. 21-26, as I am going to be out of town on the 29th.

Dude, I ordered twice, once on 1/28 and the 2nd (reorder) on 3/7. I hope yours comes soon as well, cuz my order status has not changed since the first day it went into "In Production," which was 3/8.

    Order Date: Jan. 12
    EDD: Feb. 3
Cancel #1: Jan. 27. I did not cancel the order Dell did because their Delivery truck got into an accident and the laptop was destroyed.
Order Date #2: Jan. 28. I did not create this order, Dell did automatically.
Cancel #2: Jan. 28. The automatic reorder overcharged me.
Order Date #3: Jan. 28. Corrected price.
    EDD #2: Feb. 17.
Cancel #3: Feb. 12. Automatic cancel for recall. I did not have an option to keep my order.
    Order Date #4: Mar. 4.
    EDD #3: Mar. 29.
    Status: In Production (Build Stage)
    Model: 2630qm - 1920 x 1080 - Blu-Ray - 460m - 4gbs ram - Base 3D model

As you can see I really didn't have a special config. I have so many parts at home already. I did have to have the 460m because I wanted it. My config has not changed since day 1.

Yah. But it's okay. This 2nd time around waiting isnt nearly as bad as the first time was. 1st time was terrible, not only cuz got charged on the 2nd day after I clicked "submit order", but waited like a month for nothing. Was terrible for a 1st experience ordering a computer (and first experience with Dell--see all commentary on their csrs and service).

2nd time not as bad, cuz I've been really busy with work and personal stuff. Also, cuz I got dinged with a higher cell phone bill cuz of minutes overage :p :(

Thx mang. Did you order yet? Are you going through aafes?

Doesn't matter the config. Remember they're build-to-order, and I don't think they have "quick-ship" models like HP. So no matter what you pick, it may take long(er). I'm just really disappointed because of their bs "expedite" requests/promises they keep handing out to us.

Mine is still in the "preparing for shipping" stage since last Thursday. The customer service rep provided me with the tracking info. Dell only sent FedEx the info, the actual package is still in their possession.

No, I didn't want anything extra pre-installed, but here in NZ they force you to take steam in the two bundles they sell here, and we cannot remove it as an option.

I threw my specs out there because some people were looking for a pattern. My very first order actually shipped after 10 business days, but obviously never made it to me. I can't really complain or do much until after my EDD of Mar. 29.

I ordered it pre-installed. I'm not really a computer gamer. Pretty much just the 360, but I figure I would order it pre-installed and check it out.

With the big price tag and it being a nice new shiny toy I don't think people can contain themselves. I would also like to defend myself in saying that I accidentally ordered and R2 through AAFES in Feb and once I realized that it was an R2, I had to cancel and re-order the R3 after waiting for it to be available on the website again. Also I canceled the R2 like 2 days before it shipped. So I have had a long wait time and much anticipation.

I chose them all: Steam with Portal, WoW and EVE-online, cuz I thought it'd be good bang for buck to try out some games lolz. Will this GREATLY affect our shipping time?

My order date 3/7, EDD 3/30 btw.

I think the point is that no matter what you select it will mean that extras will have to be added to your system, be it WoW alone or all of them, which maybe takes time, so maybe that's the problem :(
