When did you order and was it through AAFES?

Weird. Dell just left a message on my phone saying, my order has entered the build stage and it should ship within 7 days. I thought it was in the build stage a week or 2 ago.

Well I ran into these boards recently and have been lurking and reading. However, since I took the plunge and ordered I figured I'd register and post.

Ordered on 3/11 and the EDD is 4/6/11.

    Impatiently patiently waiting.

    Thanks!

This is the first laptop I have actually ordered for myself. All my others have either been provided via job or I h ave acquired from friends.

For once I'll actually have a machine that is what I want and more or less current. Assuming that actually arrives (it's still kind of like a dream right now and not reality) and is configured like I paid for.

Poor guy. Try tomorrow. Watch your cell phone minutes though--they add up.

Last time I called, the guy said that the R3s are on backorder. Very ambiguous statement, and prolly bs, but watever, he got me off the phone after that comment hahaha.

It's shenaniganz. The csrs just repeat what they see online. I think the 1800ALIENWA, option 2, option 1 is more accurate than what we can view online, or what the csrs will tell you. Sadly.

Yea i really didnt believe him he totally sounded like he was repeating some b/s line they tell customers. And i wish i read these froums before i bought, things would be different, and I would feel way better about the whole process but you live and learn . These forums have really helped though..

Agreed. These forums are very helpful, and folks here are very knowledgeable about lots of stuff. I've actually learned alot, and have gotten lots of ideas from reading and posting here. Mostly, NBR keeps me (and prolly everyone here that's still waiting) SANE :)

Just be patient. Or, find something to do :) If you bought it for a good price, like me and any other aafes customers or anyone who mega-haggled the salesperson, then the wait will be well worth it ;)

I did an online chat with a dell rep last night and it wasn't of much help. I told him I wasn't concerned with my unit, but that there were a lot of people waiting on their M17x R3 to ship and no one has received them lately. Just want to know if there is a shortage of supplies and if so what it was. Just trying to get a piece of mind knowing what is holding them all up. Then he told me that because I ordered through AAFES he couldn't help me and that I would have to call or e-mail the EPP personnel.

I was able to finally order my R3. This is the First New computer. Never Had a computer that wasn't a hand me down or that i didn't have to build myself so I'm hoping its decent enough for the passive use i have it intended for. Paid $1980 and change for it. It is my first alienware and I'm looking forward to getting it.

Yah, this happens every time I call in. It makes no sense. This is leading me to believe that they treat/value customers in different regards, depending on how they ordered (regular, epp, aafes, etc.). I'm guessing we (AAFES) are bottom priority since we paid less than everyone else did. But at the same time, I'm VERY ANGRY cuz all of us AAFES folks were charged on the first day, and inevitably Dell gets their money at most a couple days afterward... >:O

Oh, and my order status has not changed... It is now business day eleven.

Nah, my order was 1/26 originally. Unlike most on here I wasn't contacted to reorder, it just went though.

Spoke with AAFES last night, was told since they're not getting any response from Dell via standard channels (email), if nothing has happened by the time the AAFES rep gets back on Thursday (off next couple of days) he's going to bring in the big guns and make something happen.

Tomorrow will be two weeks with this machine, so i'm running out of time to be able to send it back.

On a different note, Everyone who has gotten their laptops, is the screen perfectly aligned with the bottom portion when closed? Mine is about 1-2mm skewed. Doesn't bug me much, but for an expensive laptop...it does bug me. Wondering if that is something they've fixed in more recent shipments.

I decided to call in for the first time. First the rep said my order had a "lead-time" then she said "essentially, its back-ordered." I stopped her there and asked her which it was, cause back-ordered, from my understanding of the word means there is no stock available. She just asked for my email and phone number and said she'd look into it.

See, I knew the R3 was a myth. I have been waiting since Jan. 12th and was so pumped for my EDD of March 29th. Seems now that I won't be getting it then either. So goes, time for this order to be cancelled too.

I got my shipping changed from regular to NBD for free today (all i did was ask basically), and my EDD changed from 4/1 to 3/30.... the dude said he was going to look further into the status of my laptop. Im only concerned theres a shortage.. we'll see... i have no problem waiting another week..

Yeah I can wait. That's not the problem. The problem is throwing around words like "back-ordered" when you don't even know if that's the case. Back-ordered means no stock, its not the same as in production, like the rep would like me to believe.

I too am waiting until my EDD date. I think though that if my EDD date comes and I find out my order is backordered, I am done and sadly will have to move on. Waiting since Jan. 12th is too long and I just can't reasonably wait another month or so. Especially since Alienware has some of the worst order communication support I have ever encountered.

What's unusual to me anyways is that the delivery date on the website for orders being placed today seems to be the same as it ever was and no backorder on any parts for any config. Usually Dell is good enough to add a warning for what items will cause your order to be delayed and if there was a backorder on the system itself then the ship date would be pushed even further out than the normal ship date. Right now the order page and delivery dates (time frame 3 weeks) are the same as they were earlier this month.

I understand since you have been waiting longer than I, and Im not desperate for it, but the anticipation is killer. Im gonna wait till my EDD and if i dont receive it before or on im gonna raise a little hell. Also if nobody gets theirs this week there has got to be an issue.

If our orders are backordered, the least they can do is be honest with their paying customers. I'm beginning to think our laptops aren't really in the build stage... More like backordered.

Well I called them up today to see if my order was still on schedule to be shipped on thursday and they said yes. Take that for what you will. They also said someone would call me on friday to give me shipping details. I'm still a little concerned that I won't get it in time. I just don't get how some people got theirs so fast and ordered the same day or after me. Again I ordered on March 3rd around noon pacific time and picked a pretty stock 3-D kit. Come on laptop!!!

Just have a little patience (except those of you waiting since Jan.). I'm sure your laptops will show up!

Same thing almost happened to me today. I was told I would have my laptop by noon today. The only bad thing was that I was at work and my wife was out until 10am. She got back at 10:30, just as the mailman was leaving the driveway. I'm glad she got home at that time otherwise I would have had to wait more.

Haha sorry to spark concerns over back-orders. Like I said, it was just from the mouth of a single rep who changed the subject when I asked "What do you mean back-ordered?" I'd trust the EDD first and foremost.

You're free to go ballistic after they miss the EDD though :p

Got contacted by Dell again today. My rep said the unit is Built and should ship within 2 business days. He also gave me the tracking number.... Which says it will be here tomorrow, but that's the fedex estimate if the unit is dropped off by Dell today which I doubt will happen

Wow that's pretty much my exact config, how'd the heck did you get it for that price? I paid about $300 more for mine . In fact the only difference I see is I ordered the 6970 instead of the NV 460 3D package.

Mine has not moved one bit at all.

But then again, regardless of how much I want it to, I should not be surprised that it has not.

Supposed ship date is 4/1 with an EDD of 4/6 still.

Here's hoping you get yours right quick.

What day did you order? I ordered on 3/9 EST SHIP- 3/31 EDD- 4/5

I guess they ended up moving the EDD back a week. There has got to be a slight problem somewhere. This EDD is 4 weeks from order date as opposed to the 3 weeks that it was.

One month sounds about right for recent orders. I placed my order on 3/21/11 and the EDD is 4/14/11.

I know one thing! I am tired of seeing "in production" everyday, sometimes several times a day. I hope my info doesn't update like X3nia and it just shows up. If I'm not home when they try to deliver I will find out where the Fedex hub is and drive there and pick it up or wait for the delivery truck to get back there so that I can. I'm tired of waiting. lol If the info updates and says shipping or pre-shipping or whatever I think those few days will be the longest ever.

Well I ordered on 3/21/11 with a EDD of 4/14/11 as well but my trouble is I'm on a Army base and the address we have for the zip code is the same as Tacoma WA right outside base. I told the sells rep on the phone this and still says on my order its going to Tacoma and not JBLM .. So what anyone got a idea what will happen to my laptop when it gets shipped my address is on base only will it get sent back?

No it should be delivered no problem. I don't know how many gates you have there, but have you ever gone through one or more of the gates where they are searching commercial vehicles entering the base? Even if you are not home to receive it, you should still be able to go to the Fedex hub where the truck gets parked every night, and pick it up after work, once they have tried to make at least one delivery attempt. Also, they will try to deliver it like 3 times (3 days) before they give up. That will give you plenty of time to get on the phone with them and make arrangements to pick it up or have it shipped to where you work on base. You will be able to work something out with them. No worries!

    Dell ordered my replacement.

Then canceled it after making me wait for 7 days with it listed as "in production"

Then re-ordered it without the upgraded CPU to 2820 as I was promised...

I'm just going to wait on this and accept my losses (waiting 3 weeks with a broken system..) and hope they actually ship this one out. Waiting on this crap and dealing with the awful customer service has made me a broken man :(
