M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

Dead pixels (tried all fixes, unfixable)
broken speaker mesh on front left side (unfixable by me)
rattling (unfixable)
misaligned keyboard (fixed by me)
misaligned screen (unfixable)
plastic wrapper INSIDE my CPU heatsink (fixed by me)

Most of my issues are external, the internals of the computer are great.. It performs well and never crashes but the externals have some major issues.

 

I do remember you saying that a while back now. I feel for you. Hope your replacement comes soon. As do the rest of ours.

On a side note, I wish I hadn't started looking for a new computer as soon as I did. If I would have started 3-4 months later I think all the SB bugs and mass ordering would have been done and over and it would have been much smoother sailing. However, my HP crashed hard, and I'm in need of my new one ASAP!

 

Yea. I'm kind of in the same boat. But in all honesty, when you buy AW you buy a wait time. My first AW I bought was years ago and I waited 5 weeks for delivery on a system that was not newly released and not in high demand. It just worked out that way.

 

I've been wanting a cooler (SF-19) for a while now but it being near $80 I don't want to spend anything in terms of money until I get this computer..

I'm so afraid they're going to screw up again and I'll be forced to return it and just go with someone else.. Spending MORE money.

 

Been waiting for ages now, and they haven't even started building anything!

I got this reply, when I started to question where is my M17x?


For your info, there is a material shortage on the computer. It is estimated to come in the production on 26th March. Once the material reach, the production will need to take 2-3 working days to assemble your parts and test the machine.

It will takes another 3-4 working days for factory to ship out to the local hub.

Eta will be another 3-4 working days from hub to your delivery address.


Looking at the details, I will not be getting mine till April 14th or 15th.
I am thinking about cancelling it, as every month the tech becomes just that little bit older, and we all know a month in is a long time in computer time.


For others here waiting, if there is a shortage, then it likely that also will apply to you.

Order date is 03-09-11, the 9th of March 2011.

Yeah, 15 days since the order date, all paid for, and no work done


Ohh, I found out what part they are waiting on, this is what they said:

Shortage of 94NKH ASSY,BASE,NBK,STCHB,ANW,M17XR3 which is the base model.

 

Dude, What do you mean by rattling? Inside the system?

 

Did a search on this, on Google. I'm not sure how search engines work, but I'm very impressed that it found the one and only assortment of numbers and letters in 0.17 sec. WOW LMAO

WOOOOO! Mine's at Oxnard today. Ordered 03/10 thru aafes. Did not get the nbd shipping. Hopefully it would arrive at my aunt's home today. But I wont get there til sunday. Im still in the Philippines.

My aunt received an email from dell that it shipped.

 

I ordered on 3/21 through the EPP/College discount program. The Rep (Man named Isa) told me that even though the production times say that your EDD is 4 weeks out, that he's had experience with a lot of machines being out of production and shipped in 6 to 7 business days.


That remains to be seen, but that's what I was told.

Well, I won't be seeing my laptop until the 27th. I'm still here in the Philippines. Don't worry, You will also get yours.

I hate Fedex. Apparently mine was out for delivery today (no notification from Dell BTW) and since i was asleep I missed the delivery. Since they used Fedex Home Delivery they are giving me grief about reattempting delivery or holding the package at the depot. In case you didn't know Fedex Home Delivery drivers apparently don't return to the depot at the end of the day and instead a lot of them bring their trucks home with them. That's mean my $2k laptop is going to be sitting in some van at some dudes house overnight, ripe for stealing.

 

Non taken. Well, It's not a line. Did you order the same specs on my sig? Ive read somewhere that some parts are out of stock and were causing the delay.

I can't believe you ordered around a week after some people and got it that quick.

I ordered through AAFES the day before you (03/09), and mine is still saying in production.

 

Where are you located? I'm in NY and ordered the day after you and have an EDD the day after you.

I really hope everyone that ordered before 3/10 gets theirs shipped out ASAP!!!

That has happened. The general trend up until about a week ago was 10-15 days. I don't remember who, but someone got theirs 9 days after order date, and that was counting the weekend days.

I'm on day 15 counting the weekends. Day 11 not counting the weekends.

 

Maybe everyone who ordered before 03/10 will get theirs tomorrow. (lol yeah right)

Although if Dell isn't alerting people, maybe we will get surprised with them very shortly???

Please Dell, I'm dying on this craptop. I need my new system before I go out of my mind!

 

I received my tracking number from Dell on the 22nd. Fedex website just updated today. My R3 is currently in GA and will be delivered tomorrow, since I had the NBD delivery. I have no doubt I'm not the only one that will be getting theirs tomorrow. Good Luck fellow R3'ers!

 

Well at least we have a few people seeing some progress again, and not everything just completely stopped. There's hope yet. Everyone keep your fingers crossed.

I changed my order to try to find the best fit for me. The order went in 3/23 and the EDD is 4/14. The initial ship date (estimated?) seems to be automated for adding 15 buisiness days (3 weeks) to the order date?

 

It has been 3 weeks since it launched, just most people until lately had been getting them earlier than their EDD.

 

I called dell today and they said they are waiting for the base of the laptop.. :/ i ordered on 3/18. already sick of waiting....

Well mine still hasn't shipped. Going on day 3 of preparing for shipment. Look like the had to special order the shipping material!

Finally got a tracking number or what?

 

I got a phone call from my csr, bearing good news. He even said "I have good news for you." LOLZ. Then he emailed me the info and #. Then I get on the 1800ALIENWA and it says it shipped and my tracking info should be available in 24-48 hours. Then I go to a job interview, do stuff, go shopping, eat dinner, and then come home, and check my email. 3 emails. 1 more from the csr, 2 from dell. All have good news.

The only bad news is, unfortunately, the nameplate will be coming separately, cuz it comes from a different factory. That one will also ship with NBD, I think. Any idea as to why they don't include the nameplate at the same time???? Is it cuz mine was "expedited" ?

 

I have been waiting much longer since the 9th, and yeah they are waiting on the base. In fact, as I am typing this they still don't have the part!

So that means nothing is been done at this point in time, and will not be until Monday, and even then there is still a chance they will not have the part in stock to build the unit.

 

Just be patient. I'm not sure why they don't have matching quantities of bases with cases. Makes no sense to me

 

Been waiting since 3/7 still in production... my EDD is 3/30 so your probably gonna have to be patient like im trying to be....

 

You're so lucky bruh. My order is still in production and even when it does get shipped, it goes directly to my ShipitAPO address in CA and then they ship it via USPS priority mail to me in Guam. I'm starting to feel depressed over here on this island, haha...

 

Poor guy. Hey, at least you saved some cash buying it via AAFES Also, while you're on that island, why don't you go shopping or something? Aren't prices cheaper there for random stuff?

 

Im only sick of waiting already because i have no computer to play on untill my r3 comes in.... i reserved crysis 2 and its just sitting here.. LAMEEEEE lol.. i know I only ordered it a week ago so when would you guys think i should be expecting it?
