M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

That's really weird, because I ordered mine day after you and my EDD is 4/5. Are you sure that's your EDD or is that your Estimated Ship Date? My Estimated ship date is 3/31 - EDD 4/5. Not saying you don't know what your talking about, but it would make more sense for your Estimated Ship Date to be 3/30, and your EDD 4/4. But I do know that Dell has played with Estimated Ship Dates and EDD's back and forth so much that everything is just crazy right now and no ones dates are necessarily lining up with anyone else!

 

Well you got your 5 days before EDD so looking at the calendar I'm thinking if I get mine (maybe) 5 days before EDD I will get it on the 31st.

Although you got yours 18 days after order date. That would put me on the 27th. So I guess anytime next week. Mon would be great, but I'm def not expecting that as web and phone both still stay in production. I really hope not Tue. as that will really tick me off. (out of town) So if it can't be Mon., I really hope Wed-Fri!!!

 

i ordered on the 8th, EDD 30th with NBD.

(although im dubious they will make it with 2 business days left to ship)

 

Yea i have NBD shipping my EDD was 4/1 but then i read a thread about calling them up and coerce them to upgrade your shipping... so i did and that dropped it down the EDD to 3/30 i have voice confirmation from a rep that 3/30 is the EDD i just checked the site also to confirm that.

 

Ok NBD the 30th. That def helps. I have standard shipping, which should take 2-3 days max! (knock on wood) That explains why my EDD date is further behind than some of yours though.

Another thought though; if I ordered on 9th and my ESD is 31st and you ordered on 8th, I would think that your ESD would be on the 30th and with NBD your EDD would be 31st. ??? I don't know? Dell has made a big mess out of all this!!!

 

You should of pushed for the NBD the faster it gets delivered means the less possibility it can be damaged ya know..

 

Keep in mind, that I'm a 2nd time order-er. Remember how I was stuck in the fiasco? Maybe all those expedite requests actually worked, by moving it up a few days.

Regarding my order status, it was "In Production" (In production in the build stage) up till yesterday noon. Then I got that call, telling me that my lappy shipped. So it went straight from that previous status to "Your order has been shipped." So no boxing, no testing, no whatever else that they would normally say on the order status.

 

That really doesn't make any sense though. When you place the order it says 5-7 days, but on the Dell website it says 3-5 days; and then you asked for NBD and they only bumped it up 2 days. At a minimum you would think that if they truly upgraded you to NBD you would have moved up at least 3 days!

You know what? I don't know anymore! I'm tired of trying to figure Dell out anymore. I just want to get my computer so I don't have to play mathematician in my head anymore, and I can start to enjoy the computer I purchased almost 3 weeks ago.

 

Hahaha... yea i have a good feeling were going to get a nice call early next week saying our rig has been shipped.. im just pre-gaming for possible let down..

 

Keep in mind that I'm a second time order-er. Remember I was looking at getting the R3 and then I guess they pulled it from the site and the R2 was the only one available. (which I couldn't tell from the AAFES website because it really doesn't have the same pics as the Dell website) I didn't have any of the part numbers memorized because I just started looking for a replacement computer and found the R3 and jumped. Accidentally ordered the R2, cause the R3 was pulled from the sites due to Sandy bridge, and then I cancelled my order 2 days before it was supposed to ship. Then waited 2.5 days for the AAFES website to allow me to personalize the nameplate. I couldn't take it any longer and just ordered it without a personal nameplate.

Even though I didn't order as early as some people in Jan/Feb, I accidentally ordered the R2 on Feb 21.

I'm sure I would have been really happy with the R2, but I had been reading reviews of the R3 and really wanted some of the features of the R3 and just couldn't make myself follow through on that order and had to cancel and reorder. SO even though I haven't been waiting as long as some I have been playing the waiting game. Not to mention I was online researching computers for 2 weeks prior to the Accidental R2 order. Which was a 12-16 hour day everyone of those days!!! (Lurking/reading here and there and everywhere, (including the dell site))

and now that I re-read this post, I want to say that I really wanted the silver. with the R3 only red or black. Ended up going with the black.

 

I hope so brother, and I'm am doing exactly the same at you. Hope for the best and expect the worst!!!

The fact that I had to cancel and reorder was a let down by itself, without the price going up over $500. LOL

 

Not so much worried about it getting damaged as they package it really well. I just want it, and I want it now, you know? lol. I think I'm going to call them on Monday and have a little chat, and tell them that I want it shipped out by mid-day on Tuesday and then, I hopefully get it Wednesday. It's worth a shot a I guess!!!

 

If I don't get anywhere with them when I call Monday and try to get NBD, I really hope that mine just appears and they don't update the site, or send e-mail or give me a call. I think that will just make me more antsy. Just have it show up before the end of next week without me knowing will make me happy.

So close yet so far!!!

 

Id push for that NBD no matter what it should be a courtesy after that large amounts of dough we drop on these systems.

 

Well it's quarter after 3 now. I think I'm going to go to bed and dream about the R3. Catch you guys tomorrow. Everyone keep their fingers crossed for the other guy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else as soon as I get done typing. LOL

 

For sure!!! You think they could spend that little bit on their customers to take care of us after we have DEFINITELY taken care of them!!!

 

Man, so stressful waiting. I was so relieved yesterday. The only things I were feeling were the anxiety of it getting here in 1 piece, and also the anxiousness and excitement of a new computer that I saved for a long time for, and waited a long time for after initially purchasing it. Again, thanks for all your support, guyz.

 

Received. Love how it looks. Reminds me a lot of my M15x, just a bigger screen and number pad added. I haven't noticed any keyboard flex. Ordered on the 7th, delivered on the 25th. Hope yal receive your orders sooner than later.

Yah 1/27, waited then cancelled and reordered on 3/4, order date was typed as 3/7 into the order status page. EDD 3/30. Received today 3/25.

I'm very happy. Only thing I'm unsure of is, was mine shipped out earlier cuz of my several "expedite requests" ? Was yours on the "expedite list" ?

 

I assume so. I told them I'm going to need next business day, for the name plate problem. They agreed, but I'm not sure if Next Business Day goes hand in hand with "expedited" orders.

 

I'm getting mine today Just got a call from fedex. Can't wait!!

 

Congrats! It looks like they got it to you by the skin of their teeth. They must have shipped it at last possible moment. If they hadn't shipped it when they did, I'm sure it wouldn't have made your EDD of monday. Kind of hard to ship it out on a Sun. lol

Hey guys, any idea on how to expedite your order? I'm not a patient guy, and I've heard about expediting it and getting NBD. How do you guys normally go about that?

 

And then there is me. Ordered on Jan. 12th originally, but my March order is still Scheduled for shipping on March 28th. Shows "In Production" still. Dookie gives me faith. (Note to self... don't ever say "Dookie gives me faith" in public.)

 

Good to hear that everyones getting their beast. Yeah! Can't wait to see my beast. Flying to CA tomorrow. 16hours of flying + 4hours of waiting in Taiwan. Wish me luck guys.

Yep, just got mine too. Never got a tracking info e-mail and the status on the web page still shows in production. My edd was the 28th so I got it a couple days early. Hurray!

 

On what date of march did you guys order yours? 03/23 for me but it says delivery on 04/14. Sounds like it would be a lot sooner than that.

 

I ordered March 3rd, so mine took just about as long as they said it would for whatever reason. Although others that ordered on the same day as me got theirs waaay earlier, so it's kind of a crap-shoot for when you get it.

Also as a note to people who ordered without nbd: Dell is apparently really nice about just giving it to you. I just chose standard originally, and as I've gotten antsier and antsier over the past 4 days, I decided to change to nbd. Called Dell customer service, and they expedited and upgraded shipping for free. I know several others here did the same thing. Worth a shot! Took my EDD from 4/18 to 4/13.

 

Just received mine also and without warning.When fedex called and said they where outside.I was happy and pissed at the same time,happy I was home to receive it and pissed that dell did not send me an email letting know about the tracking.

 

Glad you were home to receive it. At least you weren't antsy waiting on it because Dell told you that it was shipped.

I don't know what's up with Dell, but I know of at least 3 people now that have not been alerted that system shipped and it just arrived to them with no knowledge that it even shipped.

Ordered on 3/17 EPP; EDD 4/8 with NBD

I originally ordered with standard shipping, then got "more" inpatient and called to up it to NBD, my EDD went from 4/12 to 4/8 and they seem to have given it to me at no charge.

I was also told that it would likely arrive sooner.

I want to know when it ships, the web site allows you to set up for email with tracking info. Does anyone know if this is reliable?

It seems strange that FedEx is calling people about delivery, I have never experienced that before. Any insight on that?

 

Strange indeed. I never received any calls, except from the Dell csr who'd been contacting me during my 2months of despair.

 

On fed ex calling me.I guess he was a hard time with the intercom,but thank god he called my phone,instead of taking it back to his truck and have to wait another day.
