M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

They are currently preparing my order to ship. I just called back to double tap and make sure everything was on the up and up. I guess thats good news and bad news at the same time. I'm going to be out of town tomorrow and won't be able to be here to receive it. But that also means that if it did show up tomorrow I won't be able to try and track them down to get it from them tomorrow afternoon. I have waited this long, I guess another day and a half won't kill me. I don't want to pray on such menial requests, so I'm just wishing on stars that it shows up on Wed. and hopefully pretty early so that I can have lots of time with her after she shows up and before I go to bed!!! LOL

 

Yeah, I called last week for a replacement on Thurs. 3/24, its going to ship according to the Dell rep 3/30. Like you said Dookie, a lot faster

 

How the hell did you pull that one off dookie??? I thought like you did that they would ship you the lid and then have a tech come out and switch it out for you. I never expected them to send you a brand new unit! And that quick??? You one lucky MOFO. LOL. I know that makes you feel a lot better inside. I know my belly would hurt after paying that type of price and then having a scratch on it after it showed up. The thing I don't understand is there are still people ordering now and their EDD is MID April and you just got info saying that they would get one to you in a few days. WOW. Good Luck and Congrats on pulling that deal off!

Yah, the person I spoke to was very nice. He even took the time to give me a phone call back, and several emails documenting everything. Dell's customer service, I admit, is pretty good, when they know what they're talking about lolz. I guess my replacement covers two things: the scratched lid, and the BSODs that I forgot to mention to him. I guess I didn't need to mention it, since he's sending out a replacement computer anyway.

Thanks for the number Dookie. They actually said that my laptop was ahead of Schedule and that it would be shipping much sooner than my original EDD of 4/13.

 

Ei guys anyone heard anything about delays on the m17x? I got a call yesterday before i left for work saying my lappy would be delayed and that the edd was moved to the 26th of april. my original edd was the 4th.

Me too. My delivery date is also 4/13, with nbd. We probably ordered on the same day. Maybe mine is ahead of schedule too!

 

could be. You can always call and see how your order is coming. Hopefully you will get an honest rep. I not sure if what the guy told me is true to the word or just him blowing smoke up my rear end, but even still it kinda gives you hope that you wont be one of the ones Delayed.

 

Today, mine has actually moved through the next two stages "Manufactuting Build Complete" and now onto "Ship From Factory" all in one day!

well if all of the delayed orders are being moved now then our newly ordered Laptops are not far behind which is really good news. Maybe i can get mine before summer classes start.

It now says 7th April when I check in, so yeah the EDD was moved forwards from 31st March.

I don't know how long it takes to ship to NZ?

In Aust/NZ there is no option for NBD, so I would think it will take a loooong time to "Ship From Factory" to NZ?

With "Ship From Factory", the icon show a picture of a jumbo jet speeding towards somewhere, I am hoping its on that jet, and not on a big old slow boat.

Shipment info sent to FEDEX 3/25
Arrived at FEDEX 3/28
Shipping via FEDEX ground and is currently in City of Industry, CA on it's way to my ShipitAPO address in Vacaville, CA.. then will be rushed to my current location in Guam as soon as it is processed

I'm so excited! I'm glad I waited until my EDD instead of cancelling my order. Good luck to everyone else here and I hope you guys get your beast soon enough! Also, don't rely on CSR's because half of their employees have no idea as to what is going on.

I agree, but I don't take offense to others that got theirs before me, I blame Dell. To not even call me on the day it was due to tell me it was delayed? Getting to talk to a CSR is impossible at this point too.

 

well... i just spoke to a supervisor and he told me that all orders are on hold because they're waiting on the sandy bridge processors from intel. they're completely out of stock and the estimated time for them to come in is the first week of april. so for all of you that had EDD towards the end of the month.. dont get too excited.....

Just called the automated Alienware # and they said that it is being prepared to be shiped but if I go on the Dell sight it says In Production. Hope Dell is wrong.

I'm supposed to have NBD shipping. Man I can't wait for this thing.

 

Prepare to be shipped = in transit from China to US shipping facility - for me this took 3 days (Sunday - Wednesday)

Dell's website is a day or two behind. For me, the went staight from in production to "shipped" the day after I received my laptop. The 800-ALIENWA number has the best information. congrats.

 

Now they are trying to tell me I don't have NBD even though it is there clear as day on my order confirm.

 

Looks like Dell is pulling my leg.

I called them yesterday and it said it would be delivered (not shipped!) DELIVERED on 3/29/2011.

I called back today and there is no estimated delivery date or shipping or anything...just "You order is in the pre-production stage".

Total BS!

But to be expected from Dell/Alienware! Had the same issue when I ordered my R1...

 

I put my order in on 3/20 and called the 1800 # and they told me "In Production" tell April 12th? and a ship date of April 18th..? eh

 

I ordered the day after you. and my edd is 4/13. Then again i ordered online and it was 4/18. that order went sour and i had to order over the phone and it turned into 4/13.

 

Ok, my order is now "Preparing to be shipped". I kid you not. Those who have read my status updates know the amount of shock I am in now.

 

I ordered over the phone. I check the website daily for status and weekly by phone. That way I can keep my sanity. lol.

Seriously.. how many orders R3 orders would they be getting in everyday.. thousands?

 

I'm not mad at the people that got theirs first either. Dell should take better care of their customers and it should be first come first serve. Now if shipping takes longer because someone lives further away from where they are shipped that is totally understandable and un-avoidable.

 

I had EDD of 4/5 and mine is "preparing to ship" (on the phone) on the web it still says in production.

 

I cant believe it.. Mine was actually delivered to my Ship it to apo address around 12:30 today.. Now I have to wait for it to arrive at my APO address. Hopefully I will have it in my hands by Monday.

Check your "My Account" page and not just the Order Status page. I think the my account page should say "Delivery Preparation" for you.

How do I do that? Can I get to the "My Account" page from the "Order Status Page"? I ordered through AAFES, so I have been going into AAFES and clicking on my order and then their is a button to "track order through Dell." That takes me to the Order Status Page, and that is all that I have been using.

EDIT: I clicked on Dell purchase ID and it took me to a "My Status Page." It says "In Production" their as well. (If thats what you were talking about)

 

Oh, ok i check through my Dell account on the Dell site. So maybe I am not helping like I thought I would. Shame, because the page I check updates at the same time as the phone status. Wish you had that option.

OK , big problem on my hands .I ordered my m17xr3 on march 24th with a EDD of the 15 of april.Now the problem is after some research it turns out the m18x is actually true ! so now im thinking , instead of me sitting here suffering waiting for my r3 to finally arrive since it literally seems to take forever, would it be smarter to cancel ? I know we receive 21days to return it, so should i take the opportunity to use the r3 (3d) as a test run ? This super sucks !!! so mad ! Everything you seem to buy now and days , is old in less than 1 month ! Sick of it! Im surprised all the people who complained about not having sli dual gpu , didnt mention are beast will be a $2500 junior compared to the M18x.Any advice on this ? (o and if you call the M18x speculation please first google it , then call dell !!!!)

 

Well you'll be saying the same thing when the m19x comes out (hehe). It depends. Do you absolutely need a computer now?

 

Lol it feels like forever!!! I appreciate the answer, but If you google it first , call dell second there actually talkin the next couple months ! this is why i am so upset.A year , no problem makes sense for it to be released then .But months ! Which if it turns out to be completely true(not the m18x , its fact now.I mean the expected date of release !)that it ends up on the dell sight in the end of april or beginning of may and i will get my r3 the 15 this gives me some of April and may to see if they really go through with this. which if they do its guaranteed I will return it.Can anyone else maybe call dell and ask and see if your told the same thing ? NOTE: this applys to the ones who have purchased and received there laptops only because dell obviously wouldn’t tell potential new customers about it , because they know after your 21days , your stuck ! Is this the horrible truth ?

 

Sounds like nothing more than speculation/rumors.. I wouldn't get my hopes up.

 

If you have been waiting for an 18" laptop then wait. It just might be til summer when it arrives.

 

You keep asserting the m18x is "fact" then you express uncertainty to this "fact".

If the m18x is the computer for you, then you should wait for it. Don't buy the m17x with intent to return, that could bite you back in the form of restocking fees or missed return windows, plus its just morally iffy.

 

Uncertainty of the fact ? I think your reading something wrong there buddy. No uncertainty as to the m18x being real, as it is a definite thing .The release date is where the uncertainty comes to play, that is all i am uncertain of because no one but dell knows if they plan to push it back or not. Morally iffy ? Returning it? if dell releases it right in the next two months then they’re the ones with the messed up morals, Steve jobs has more moral then that ! plus its not like they dont give you the 21days to say your not happy with it , if there is a m18x at that time i wont be . , the restock is 45.00 which is nothin but a few black n milds and coronas. Take it easy guy : ) , I just don’t wanna have a 3gs when I could have the 4 , if ya know what I mean.

I'm going to second this, and add it's more than morally iffy, it's just downright wrong!!!

Technology moves so fast these days, you are always going to have those what if's. Your not gaining that much screen real estate, and from what I have read on crossfire and sli and stuff, I would rather stay away from it and have less of a headache. The 17 R3 is a killer machine that I'm sure you would not be disappointed by. On the other hand, the only reason you would be disappointed is because you are thinking of the 18 and thinking about your what if's. So if you think for one second that you can't get this lappy and be happy by putting your what if's behind you. Then you should definitely wait for the 18 and have what you truly want and not be disappointed by a system that is in the top tier of gaming laptops/desktop replacements.

Good luck with your choice and decision. As always there are lots of people here to help keep everyone sane while they are waiting in agony for their new beast to arrive. Keep your chin up and sleep on it a day or two before you finally decide and I'm sure you won't regret if you truly weigh the pros and cons. GL

 

Well the Dell rep was true to his word, got an email confirming that the machine is finished and is on its way to the carrier. NBD upgrade too; I didn't even complain about the order, I merely asked if there were any delays.

 

I ask you to be a little more polite. You asked the question and you are going to hear peoples responses. If you don't like them, then pay no attention. But if you don't like them and aren't paying them any mind then it seems to me that you have already made your mind up on what you want to do.

 

Alienware M18x April Release archive on The Laptop

I don't know how true it is, but I found this that says April release. I wouldn't think that they would release it that soon after the R3 because of competing sales. I don't doubt that they are going to release it. Although I do believe that they are building hype about it now and they are going to push the release date back a bit so as not to stomp on the R3 sales. JUST MY OPINION!!!
