Hmm. My ESD is April 9th, and my system is still in the "build" stage as of today. Is there any chance at all they will make the date? =p

Prolly not.. boxing is a few days itself for it to get to the states (if your in the states).. I was hoping to have mine by now.. a full month is a long time for a replacement system. :-(

Just got a response from my rep and he told me RBG display and 2x ATI were on back-order.... great, waiting almost a month for my system now and by the looks of it wont get it this month even. GG Alienware/Dell.

Yeah it sucks having to wait, especially without a system at all :/ I've been using computers at the university library for a month now. I'll be back on the M17x train for 5870's tho :)

You ordered? I went through the check out 3 times today and didn't pull the trigger. I heard end of April for 5800s, but that is just a ghost rumor.

I will probably order tomorrow and juggle with the back order.

    Hi,

I'm gonna be taking the plunge soon to get the M17X. I currently have a MacBook Pro but I really want all the gaming power from this laptop.

My question is: Does anyone know if Alienware will be updating the M17X anytime soon? Or are there any rumblings of a new/better Alienware model that will be released this year? I'm probably looking at September before I'll be able to get it. What are Alienware's product cycles like?

    Cheers in advance.

I hope you get your system soon.

I always wanted to but when the other brands announced the 5870s I was going to wait for them. With these delays it may take a while.

    oh my...Chicago style, lol!

Hey guys is it true that you can't just add a second 4870 card w/ XF cable to a single GPU unit because the second one would be soldered or something?

No. You can add it as long as you get the heatsink for it also.

Oh, OK I was told that it I can't do that and would have to get a different system as the second card is soldered to the motherboard by one person and that it would be insanely expensive to do by another person

I think some are for sale in the NBR marketplace. Dell will charge a lot more but it will be warrantied with the system.

If you get a call/email from dell saying your order has been delayed, does it reflect on the Order Status page and the automated phone call? I haven't received any news about my order being delayed but you never know.. I'm scared :(

Yeah mine got delayed a week on top of the original EDD, and I would've been out of town on vacation anyway. I'll stick with my M15x which is shipped and will probably hop on the M17x-R2 with 5870's or whatever is after the current set.

Your computer won't be made in 3-4 days. I've been in production from last Wednesday. Didn't want to burst your bubble but just giving you heads up before you disappoint even more on Monday when it still says "In Production" :D

Just cancelled my order and refused to reorder. First sales guy overcharged me and downgraded components so I had to spend a week and a half trying to get the order changed or cancelled. Then they refused to even honor the piddly "on sale" price it originally was for the order, after all I've been through. I'm sure the M17x is an amazing laptop, but it's just not worth trying go through Dell Canada and the sales reps we get. You Americans are lucky to get the prices that you do. Gonna go consider a Clevo lunchbox...

Yeah, looking back that would have been the way to go. I wanted to use their financing since I don't keep a credit card with that big of a limit. Also, a certain message board made me believe I could save money ordering over the phone ;) , which only seems true if you live in the ole U. S. of A.

Well I saved a good bit on configuring online and then call a sales rep. This was in France however, and I always get a significant better price/configuration this way.

Sorry to see you getting problems though, there are bad reps on every call centre no matter where or in what business. You were unlucky imho.

I ordered an Alienware laptop over one month ago. The original estimated ship date was yesterday. I thought this was too long but decided to wait anyway. I found out today that the ship date was pushed to the middle of next month. This is insane and totally unexeptable. I cancelled my order and will probably never buy an Alienware laptop. They immediately charged me, but my $3000 are sitting in limbo for over 2 months, they've got to be crazy to think most people will wait this long

    because you are dead right.

unfortunately, Dell is incapable of getting these systems out in a reasonable amount of time.

no, 4 weeks (let alone 6 weeks) to me is not reasonable.

I have ordered my m17x on 26/03/2010 and my EDD is 24/05/2010.

It has only today gone to status "in production", from the previous "work in progress".

i wonder if it will go past the EDD, since it is at 2 months from my order date :|
