They just pushed my EDD from 4/12 to 4/19 =/. Didn't send an email/phone call either.

Does 6GB of ram at 1066mhz vs 1333mhz make a noticable difference?

 

No but at the same time it really depends on the ram itself. If you compare the memory Dell sells you will not see a difference.

 

I am planning on ordering an M17x when my trade-in gift card is delivered to me from Dell.

I am leaving at the end of May for a vacation. Should I get the laptop shipped to my current address or my vacation address? Will it really take that long to ship? Also is Alienware planning on releasing any new 17" laptop in the near future?

Dell is releasing a new line in the fall... Chances are there will be a new alienware system... No names

Yeah true... My source is one step down from Michael Dell... My aunt got a call from him after she posted on Dell forums.. She was givn th run aroun for 6 months... He gave her brand new machine with 1000 more than she paid for...

He told her he checked the forums once in a while and he saw hers...

He said Dell will have a new line in the fall

and no offense you might be telling the truth, but there are a few variables to this that just don't make it beyond a shadow of a doubt believable:
#1 it was your mom that called so this is third hand information
#2 he contacted your mom personally
#3 you said "My source is one step down from Michael Dell... "
#4 Your previous statement in #3 is now being changed


IDK I have emailed all of corporate and it was a pretty convincing letter and I never received a call from any of the people I emailed, Also I can say the same thing my Brother-in-law is an executive at CareerBuilder, and he rarely ever gets involved in anything like that he usually will have an assistant contact the person as exec's are pretty busy most of the time, but again you may be telling the truth. Personally IDK if it's credible or not just stating my opinion.

fall is best time for them to release new machines... Kids buy laptops for college then... Thousands.... So it's also logical for them to release it around then

There is absolutely no new M17x coming in the fall. You won't see it until 2011.

 

my edd still remains 5/7. hopefully it will not change. in production now since past wednesday. 5 weeks from order date 1ste april. going into week 2 of waiting

 

i was referring to the xps line... as for alienware....idk

 

a new laptop from alienware will probably come 2012 ;p

 

I think the new M17x will be out in 2011. Hopefully 5870's will be out before that Not sure if they will add anything to thier line up though.

 

got call from customer care, all parts are in stock now and it's beeing "produced"
now hopefully that won't take 3 weeks..

 

I'm still in build but I just ordered on Thursday....no surprise I guess.

 

Just waiting for mine to say shipped.. Then gonna try to take the day off.

 

LOL! I just checked my email today and got a $10 coupon from Dell saying my order didn't work out so I got scared to death thinking my M17x order got canceled! Called and nope.. still in production.. Dell almost gave me a heart attack ugh..

 

Well make it clear for us before.. You came into Alienware forum saying a new line is coming out.. Of course we are gonna assume you're talking about an Alienware product..

I love rumors. What I heard is a refresh of the M17x with Sandy Bridge early next year and a new model in the Fall. lol! POST THAT ENGADGET!!

I've heard the complete opposite. That we won't see the redesign until 2011. The next one will be a beast as well, big PS, sandy bridge etc. I know for sure that the next one was confirmed to me by an AW engineer and it was still on the drawing boards just a few months back. So I don't see it hitting production by fall, especially if it's a forward looking design.

 

Nice, I am still "In Production". My rep said I would get the replacement in 2 weeks time, but I am expecting more like a month before I get it. 2 weeks from April 2nd when the rep came and replaced the motherboard.

This would mean technically this week Friday I would have it, but my tracking number information still says "Temporarily Unavailable".

 

The 5870's are scheduled to be out 22 days after I get my M17X.

 

Mine was a replacement as well and expedited as best as the rep said he could. It went into production the day or day after it was entered, boxing 2.5 weeks later, shipped this morning, and should hopefully put it here tomorrow which gives exactly 3 weeks time from the order to delivery. Just for a reference point for you.

Also, a replacement says "Information Temporarily Unavailable." forever if I'm not mistaken, I'm now shipped and still see that.

 

Well, my source is just a dude that has ties with Dell.

My M15x went into boxing today (only 3.5 days after I ordered it) so I am a happy camper
