M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

I've been trying to bide time reading up on the Rift wiki, and it has only made my impatience worse

 

Hey everyone. I've been keeping up with this thread for a few days now to sort of get a feel for how long the average person waits for their M17x. I decided to finally register. I placed my order on 03/22 and have a EDD of 04/13 as of right now( I believe there are a few others with a similar order date hanging around). I called the alienware number up and It's currently in the building stage.If I get any other updates, I'll post them here.

We have almost the same comp, down to edd lol

Mines the 3d package with 460m though

 

You should read some of the prior post before you start spouting off. Start at about page 250 on this post and then read everything to the end. I ordered and R2 in Feb and then the R3 came out and canceled and ordered the R3. I have had a pretty good outlook through this whole process until today. I still had a good outlook when a person that ordered the R3 a DAY AFTER me received theirs last week. As there were still people that ordered the day I did and before that, that still didn't have theirs. Not it seems everyone who ordered around my time frame and after are all receiving them and I'm left on this POS HP that isn't covered in the nVidia settlement even though it's a POS that is having the same problems as the other in the settlement. (So I have actually been waiting for about 5 weeks now!!!)

Also you didn't state if you ordered an R3 or not. If you did I would like to see the tune your are singing at week three if you still haven't received it yet and people on this forum that ordered same day as you and days after you have already received them, and you have nothing in your hands.

They already charged me for the computer and I'm on the Second Billing cycle already and nothing to show for it. Sucks paying for over a $2000 computer and you don't even have it.

If you did order one, I wish you luck on getting it ASAP and not having to wait for so long.

OK my appologies. You are in the same boat as me. You weren't speaking to me about me being impatient. You are going out of your mind with me. LOL - Hope we both get them tomorrow!!!

 

You ordered 9 days after me and you got yours. I'm still waiting on mine. That is truly disappointing dell. <--I downgraded them to a lower case d!

I just don't understand why some are held up so much. You know it wouldn't be so bad if dell would just contact us (phone/email/morse code/smoke signals/anything) to let us know that are systems are held up and they are held up because of reason X and this is what to expect and when you should receive it. I don't even need them to contact me. They could automate the whole process and put it on the order status page. I can read it for myself and figure out whats going on and have a little piece of mind that it's held up for a reason and I just have to wait. The not knowing of what's going on is what's killing me!!!

EDIT: This just goes to show everyone that there is no rhyme or reason to dells madness. If your new to this thread start back about 50 pages and read from there. We have all posted specs trying to figure out reasons why some people were getting theirs so quickly and other had to wait forever. We have not come to any conclusion yet. So go back and read all that and then keep up with what is going on and maybe eventually you guys that just ordered a bit ago will be able to come up with a reason as to why some people get theirs sooner than others. GL everyone.

 

Luckily I'm In no huge hurry to get mine. I still have my G50 Asus I got back in 2008. It's a modest rig, but it runs rift fine, and I'm mostly playing dragon age on my 360 right now.

I mostly want it for when TOR comes out later this year, plus w/e other random release I might feel the want to play.

as I have said many times on this forum, it could be a back order part to do with Stealth Black that is holding some systems up

Your lucky that you aren't in a rush. That will make the wait go by a lot faster.

My computer however is on it's last legs and the only way to keep it running is in power saver mode. Doesn't matter if I'm plugged in or running on battery that is the only way to keep it running for any length of time. If I shut the lid I have it set to go into hibernate mode. If I shut down or put it into hibernate and then decide I needed to do something else and try to get it running again, it will not start for at least 5-10 min. It starts to start up and then just crash and it's off. If it's in any other mode than the power saver it will just crash within minutes of start up. Cannot get anything accomplished. Will even crash when it's in safe mode if the battery is on power saver. I attribute it to HP AND nVidia defects. Not just the nvidia. HP won't stand behind it. I will NEVER buy another HP product in my life!!!

 

So choppus any word on your system?

I think I have had very good patience throughout this whole process. I thought everyone that ordered around me already got theirs, and few after have gotten them. It actually makes me feel a little bit better than I'm not the only one that was left in the dust. At least we can keep each other company. lol

 

Hi Ordered the red. Maybe because mine wasn't a 3D model is why I got it so quick. Like I said originally my EDD was the april 13.

I don't understand either. I had been watching how long it has been taking for everyone. I figured I was in for a long wait.

 

I really dont think it has to do with the color.

That Nothing guy who waited for like 2 months ordered a red one.

 

Hello Everyone,

I have been following these forums and particularly this one, since I ordered my M17x R3 on March 7th. My Estimated Ship Date was April 1st. In fact, they really were helping me keep sane all these days.

I just wanted to share with all of you 'still waiting', that after 23 days of watchin the In Production, mine shipped out today! . . 1 day ahead of its estimate ship date, so I can't fault dell for not being spot on.

Unfortunatly, I live in Toronto so there will unfortunatly still be another 5-7 days of shipping/customs ahead of it, especially since DELL CANADA would not authorize expedited shipping for me.

Anyways, just wanted to add my 2 cents; as last week it was the posts of other M17x r3 owners that ensured me the assembly line was still moving. Just hold in there and it will come

 

I feel sorry for you guys. I ordered 3/4 and got it 3/14 (it could have been 3/12 but that was a Saturday), and apparently thats the end of the first batch. The next batch, maybe from 3/7 or 3/8, is delayed as a lot of people are complaining.

Im just wondering if anyone ordered 3/8 and got the lap already ?

 

Nothing yet man. The ol' ladies computer is coming in first (tomorrow) and it was ordered 15 days after mine. Although her's wasn't an R3. If her's shows up tomorrow that will be 7 days from order to delivery. I'm on day 21 and tomorrow will be day 22.

There are 2 things I'm hoping for. I hope that the system hasn't updated like other people have had, and I'm hoping that maybe their system saw two orders going to the same place so they ended up shipping them out together.
Going to be sorely disappointed/burnt if hers comes tomorrow and mine does not. What a bent nose I will have. LOL

I ordered it for her. Maybe I make her wait to open it till I get mine. LOL.

If I ordered and my EDD was on April first. I would have cancelled and re-ordered the next day. Your computer is in production, april fools. Your computer is preparing to ship, april fools. Your computer shipped, april fools. Maybe you get it 01 APR 2012. lol I would never had let that order process. I can imagine myself getting one on April fools day and the damn thing wouldn't even start. I would call dell up and be like is going. Haha funny april fools joke. Now I want you to take this one back and send me 2 systems for putting me through this agony.

 

Yes Last Pick ordered his on 3/8 and got it today. And there was one that ordered on the 10th and received end of last week. And someone who ordered on the 18th and received today. As far as I know there are 2 of us that ordered onthe 8th that haven't received yet. (at least on this forum) Then a person from Canada that ordered on the 7th and it shipped today.

 

LOL! yeah, that never even occured to me as it is also my birthday. I took it as a good omen and expected my BDAY present 'to myself' to be here by now. All dell computers that I have purchased came in half the expected time. I guess thats the nature of the new beast.

 

Well if it was my B-day I might have a different outlook on the whole thing. LOL. I guess i would probably let it go. And like you said, expect it before your b-day but it would be your b-day present to yourself.

By the way, that's one hell of a b-day present to yourself!!! lol

Well, I just finished my 10th and last semester at the University of Toronto, and i spent all that time using a Dell Insiron Mini and a Dell XPS desktop thats like 6 years old P4 3.2 ghz (1 core lmao) not even PCI E - graphics, its a mess. Anyways now that I dont have to spend every minute working so I can pay for class, I spoiled myself.

Let me tell you in 5-7 days there will be some computers on the curb, and im going to purchase half the game isle and future shop.

Today would've been my EDD. I got it on the 25th, prolly cuz it was my 2nd order, and prolly cuz of my 3 "expedite requests." Maybe others can follow suit and try to ask for expedite requests?

 

I also ordered on the 7th and it would've been in my hands already on the exact EDD that Dell provided if I didn't live out here in Guam. I hope I receive it next week while I'm on leave and my Turtle Beach P5X gaming headset, too.

 

I would rather blame it on dell not following the simple and world wide known common courtesy of first come first serve. (can understand a day or two difference because of shipping distances or something. besides after they shipped it's the delivery company problem. but to have someone order 9 days after me and get it before me is just down right outrageous) Not mad at (sorry don't remember your name) I'm glad you got it so quick and I'm sure you are pumped and enjoying that baby. Just mad at dell!!!

My apologies. I ordered on the 8th but it was so late at night dell recognizes it as the 9th. Originally I was only posting about the 9th but then I started switching back and forth and now I think I'm only posting the 8th. lol Either way, I'm feeling left out. Wants my system quick dell.

I think it had more to do with your expedite requests than it being the second order. This is my second order and it's taking forever and day!!! Also not everyone can ask for expedite requests or they will all be in the same situation they are in now. LOL They will all be expedited orders and they will still receive them on the days that they were going to receive them without the expedite request. lol

 

Damn. That's messed up. Can you edit your sig to include your order date and EDD?

EDIT: I have been thinking about this for a while. Everyone talking to one another here and it's hard to keep track of what everyone's Order Date/ESD/EDD. I think it would be beneficial for everyone to put them in there sig while they are waiting on their systems.

I was gonna go to bed but then I realized that we are so close to 300 pages I figure I will stay for the landmark. lol There has been a bit of chatter going on so I'm sure it won't take too long tonight for us to surpass it.

An e-mail got my shipping upgraded to NBD from standard ground for free.

That changed my EDD from the 6th to the 4th.

The website still says In Production.

The phone line says the same with an ESD of April 1.

At this point I have no ing clue when the darn thing will arrive.

Heck still waiting on Dell to charge my account.

 

Well I need to find my camera and charge it before it shows up so I can take some pics during the opening and setup. I know it's in one of my Army bags somewhere; just not sure exactly which one. LOL.
Then set up and DL firefox, google chrome, and the awesome battery bar meter ( Osiris Development - BatteryBar, the most accurate battery meter for Windows) (best one I have ever come across) , a core temp program but not sure which one (any suggestions???) , decide how I want to set up my desktop and background along with sidebar, load the forum and let everyone know that I got it and that I'm very pleased with the beautiful creature, check out the steam portal, maybe DL a game. At some point I have to catch up on e-mails and do taxes on it. Also gonna have to DL iTunes and figure out how to transfer my music files from this computer to the R3. It seems never ending. I have so much to do when I get it. Just want to get it and get everything set up and taken care of so that I can just carry on with normal business and maybe try to help any of the other that are waiting on theirs. Any questions they may have that haven't been answered yet and hopefully I can get them some pics. Although I don't have a picture hosting site/page yet so have to figure out how I am going go to go about that. Which one to go with and exactly how to make that all work. LOTS OF WORK AHEAD OF ME, BUT I LOOK FORWARD TO IT AS LONG AS I'M ON MY NEW BEAST!!!

 

I have been exhausted thinking about it 24/7 since the my first order and then cancel an reorder. I might just have to do that myself. (or find me a 5 hr energy drink and take that to hang in there for a bit before I collapse) LOL
