Any details on the email? I called today and the person told me it takes on average 5-10 business days, followed by a pause, then an restatement of how much I payed and that something of that quality will take longer. I laughed.

Your lucky, a few of us that ordered through AAFES have already been charged and are going on the second billing cycle even though we don't have are computers yet. Well dookie was going through the same thing, but he just got his, so he is now all good even though he was on the second billing cycle before he received his.

The e-mail was from me to them. I sent it when I called a few days ago and was told their systems were down. At the time I did not have the time to wait around and call when they were back up and running so figured sending an e-mail might work and if not then I'd call again the following day.

Sort of off topic, but I ordered me one of their orion carrying cases. Got it for $58 on Amazon with 1 Day Shipping.
Any opinions on it? The reviews looked pretty good for it. I basically just want something padded so I can bring it to my buddies house if I want to. Nothing too hardcore. -
I would have rather been charged in full right away.
As it is that 3K of mine is sitting in my account staring at me and whispering on all the other things it could be used for.
Like paying off my car for instance. LOL
Odds are that if I do not get the laptop next week those whispers will win, I will cancel the order and then hold off and use the dough for other needed items.
I've been without a non-work laptop for years now so I can survive another year or so.

I can't comment on this bag although the comments are good and it looks like a nice bag. If you ever decide that you need something very nice and kind of like an insurance policy for your lappy go to pelican for your needs. I have the 1495cc1 and have had it for over 3 years now. I will never use anything but a pelican case to protect such a big investment. Also being in the military we use a lot of different pelican cases for multiple reasons. Their is nothing in the world that can beat them. (that you would still be able to easily tote around)

Ah money comes and money goes. I used to be a big saver and have a big bank account. But after my first combat deployment I kind of changed and started enjoying myself afterwards. I didn't make a conscious to do this, it just kind of happened. Life is short. Live it to the fullest! (within your means of course)

Phone says, order still being prepared to ship. My GF's Inspiron is on the truck to be delivered. Truck cant be that far away.

And her's just showed up. None for me. Good thing is the guy almost missed the house and had to back up a bit on a busy Rd. I said just one today? Then he asked if another one was coming. So thats good he is going to be on the lookout as well. Also told me that if I wasn't home to just leave a note for him to leave it in garage or in front door and he would. Also said that he would bag it if he was going to leave it and we weren't here. Guess I'm gonna have to give this FedEx guy a tip.

For us UK customers - after contacting my rep to find out why it was still in "Work in progress" on the site he said that it was in production and they're having some issues with the website.
Ordered 17th, EDD is 8th April. -

That's weird that people's accounts have not been charged yet. I called the bank to raise my limit 5 mins after I ordered it then I spent a few minutes talking to dell finance department to rerun my order through to make sure everything is alright. So I was charged and ready to go like 20 minutes after putting the order through. I wonder if the payment part is a potential bottleneck for people waiting on their R3? -

Ever since then I've had a manager calling me telling me whats going on. 2 days ago (On the 29th) she told me it would ship ON THE 29TH.
...It didn't ship, Dell reps are clueless and I'm past calling those script monkeys. This is starting to get beyond frustrating. Excuse me for berating these idiots but all the "support" can do is read off what they see on the order status page and "erm uhhh" make stuff up as to why it isn't here.
This has happened not once, not twice, but three times on me. Oh... I forgot to mention them saying they'd give me $150 back and then canceling that AND them saying I'd get a 2820qm upgrade and canceling that. This billion dollar company is such a joke it isn't even funny. Support my ...foot.
My order isn't even in delivery prep yet and after experiencing the 2-3 day wait from my first order I don't think I can expect it to get here until next week AT THE EARLIEST.
oh and I haven't had an EDD on the order status tool the entire time. -
Well just checked the phone line. Says my oversized and overpowered calculator is preparing to ship.
Would be cool if it arrived tomorrow.

Had the same issue. Replacement order placed 3/21 canceled 3/28. They say it is due to personalized name plate. For whatever reason the systems team canceled it. New replacement order placed on 3/30. Hopefully this one goes through. It really is minor stuff. My lid is off by 2mm if that, and 2 stuck pixels.
Don't have a delivery date either, just says "temporarily unavailable". Dookie's is the same way. -
Ordered on the 19th and edd of 13th... Replacement for my R2 after it was stolen. It can't come fast enough as my iPhone just doesn't cut it. I do feel bad for those who have had cancelled orders.

FedEx home delivery, delivers on Tue-Sat. So with NBD it should show up on Sat. and if it didn't make it on Sat then it wouldn't arrive until Tue. That's info that I got straight from the FedEx site yesterday.

so choppus just letting you know that all m17x's have been put on hold because of something with the base of the computers. I just got done cancelling my order because i found a refurbished m15x for 1400 bucks on ebay that was niceeee for the money man... saved me alot of money.. with warranty and all... specs werent bad at all man... i7 740qm. 5850 1gb. 500gb hdd. 8gb 1333. good enough for me and i dont have to wait for it... its comming monday.. shipped out right when i ordered..

I'm thinking that it's been shipped and that both the systems stopped updating for whatever reason. I don't remember the day that it said it went into preparing to ship. I think I'm day 4 or 5. I have hope that I will get it tom or Sat. I guess I have to at least give them until my EDD. I don't want to because everyone else is getting them earlier. lol I got to play around with the GF's computer setting it all up today. She is not very computer savvy, (not that I'm any expert) so I got everything going and set up for her, for the most part. It was just a low end Dell inspiron 17R. (everything base except upgraded the P6100 to the i3)
Good thing is the FedEx guy went past the house and then pretty much locked the brakes up and backed up to the driveway. lol. I said, just one today? He said yeah why, you have another coming? I said sometime. lol. So hopefully he remembers and doesn't miss the house. Really nice guy, down to earth and seemed on top of his game. Not like a lot of other drivers from any of the delivery companies, that hate their job and you can tell by their customer care/attitude. He said if I wasn't home to leave a note and he could leave it for me. It was raining this morning too, so after he told me that he would leave it in the garage or in the front door if I left a note, that he would bag it up for me as well. -
Need some facts and a source. Not that I don't believe you. Also I think I should be ok. Mine was preparing to ship while others were still receiving theirs. It wasn't still in the build stage so I'm pretty sure that it will get here and not be held up in any base problems. If it was still in the build stage then I might be having some problems with dell right now. lol

I certainly hope they don't run mail their like they did for us in Afghanistan. The mail would come into Kabul and they would put it in different connex's depending on where it had to be flown out to next. But if more mail came in before the old mail was flown out to us they would put the new mail in the front of the old mail. Then sometimes we would receive newer mail for a while, and have to wait quite a long time for mail that was older (in the back of the connex), until they got the mail caught up. -

As bad as I want my R3, I almost don't want to get it tomorrow. I'll end up opening it and it won't even start up or something being that it's April Fools Day. Or the box will come and all the components and sticker and hat and power brick be in there, but the computer won't be. LOL
EDIT: Worse yet, everything is in the box except the power brick, and I'll have a nice shiny new computer and only be able to use it for a few hours and then just look at a $2000 paper weight until I got the power brick. -

I ordered on the 8th but dell didn't receive the order till the 9th. So if you go from the 9th, I'm on day 22 right now, and tomorrow will be day 23.
And that's not even my whole waiting time as I ordered the R2 in Feb and then cancelled to order the R3. I was looking around at what I wanted since the end of Jan/early Feb. I knew I was going to buy a computer just wanted to do some research of specs and play around with a few different options and figure out where I wanted to be for price. So realistically speaking, I have been waiting for about 2 months now. lol.
The waiting wasn't nearly as hard until after I hit that order button in the shopping cart. (2 separate times) -

So I call my rep asking about the status of my R3 (in production both on My Account and on the automated number), and my rep confirms that's it's still in production. So I asked him if he could upgrade me to NBD, he kept me waiting for half an hour (and since I'm in Qatar the number is not toll free!), and when he came back he told me that apparently my laptop has left China and is on its way ! But that it hasn't cleared US customs yet. So he said it shouldn't take long now, but said that he still can't confirm whether these information are accurate or not! So what am I supposed to believe now ??

Just called the automated line and somehow ended up talking to a person (not sure what dept) He put me on hold for about 5 min. Then came back on and said he "THINKS" it shipped but that he was going to transfer me to customer care and that they would be able to better fill me in. He hits 2 buttons and then I get the lovely dell waiting music. Then I get a recorded message that says that dept is closed and to call back during the next regular business day. THESE PEOPLE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT DEPARTMENTS WORK AT WHAT TIMES???
Some information is better than no information. The technology has already been invented to use bar codes to update production status'. Assign a new bar code to each computer that is ordered and scan the bar code at each stage and the computer software could automatically update everyones Order Status page. If all the systems were held up due to a back order or something they could have generic bar code to scan and put a note into the computer so that it would update everyone that has an R3 on order for instance that they are being held due to "X" being on back order. I can accept information that I don't really want to hear. What I can't accept and really ticks me off is not having any information whatsoever or having mis-information. (I have seen first hand where this has gotten people killed in combat!) -

UPDATE: I called the automated number last time and somehow ended up on the line with some type of dell rep. Kept me on hold for 5 min. Then said he thought it was shipped, but wasn't sure. Transferred me to a customer care to get more info and customer care wasn't even open. I just hung up after the automated system said to call back during next regular business day. Been hanging around the forum for a bit and just called the automated order line for the millionth time. The automated line said that it shipped. Just checked the order status page and it changed to shipped. EDD Tomorrow! (I think they might be messing with me and gonna tell me april fools tomorrow when I don't get it)
SO I have come to the conclusion that you either have to call the automated line a million times to get your computer to ship, or by me reaching someone and them trying to take a look at my order, made both the automated phone system and the Order Status page update.
