M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

How long has it been taking for you to get mail from the states? (I'm assuming you are from the states and get mail once in a while. I apologize if I am incorrect in this assumption.) My guess would be 5-10 days after it hits the states, then you will have it.

 

My order date is 3/17.
Normally it takes 3 to 5 business days to get mail from the states, and I was promised that once my R3 is shipped to New York it should reach me within a week here in Qatar, so fingers crossed

 

See I had a good guess. Well after the convo I had with a rep tonight I would say the information that he gave you is correct.
As mine said I think it shipped but I'm not to sure. I don't understand how they don't know. Use that computer in front of you and punch the number I give you in there somewhere. Pull up some info and let me know what is going on. DANG! Makes me want to use the remote connection to control their desktop to actually look it up for myself. I mean if they do what they are supposed to, it should be in black and white, right in front of them. I don't understand how they can somehow read some info and tell you about it and yet still be so unsure of the info they just gave you. LOL.

Wait, I have it. Dell trains them to give you some info and then teaches them to say, (to include but not limited to) I'm not too sure/ I can't confirm that though/ it looks like that's the case, but I can't guarantee it/ well the magic 8 ball says your system has shipped, hang on, let me shake it again to see when it will be delivered.

Dell's reps have reached the status of "notoriously legendary", I mean seriously next door grocery stores have a better tracking system of their products, and we're talking apples and oranges not freakin' laptops!
Anyway, it's almost 5 in the morning here, i can almost see the daylight

For those of you that are worried about calling and trying to expedite and get NBD. I don't think I would worry about it. My GF's Inspiron 17R shipped yest and arrived today, with no expedite and no NBD. Mine is showing shipped today and arriving tomorrow with no expedite and no NBD.

I'm looking at the tracking for my GF's system that came in today and it never stayed at any one FedEx location for very long at all. Except the first one right after they picked it up.

The longest delays are the actual travel times. They don't stay at any location for very long at all. This shipped from NJ and traveled to Northern NY in less than 24 hours.

Right now my computer is 16 min ahead of where my GF's was last night. I'm sure it will still arrive around the same time in the morning though.
I have the camera charging. However I do not have a webhost to place pics, and really don't want to open one. Gonna try and resize the pics and lower the resolution (camera is set at 10MP) then post them directly into the M17x Show Off pics vids etc. thread.

 

Photobucket takes like 20 seconds to setup and upload photos been using it for many years ~

 

GL on receiving very soon!!! I'm going to say that, if it's actually being shipped from China right now, then I would guess you get it in 10-12 days from now.

I will think about it. lol. Not really worried about setting up an account. Just don't like the fact that other people can just browse those sites and look at your pics. I don't mind the intended target (people on this forum) looking at the pics, just don't want anyone in the world being able to see them. I really don't know why it bothers me. LOL

 

Thank you very much. Been a long wait. If it actually shows up tomorrow it will be 23 days from order to delivery. Quite the difference from most of the ones we have seen since the R3 came out. LOL.

I'm having mixed emotions at the moment. I'm glad that it's on it way and it makes feel a little relieved. At the same time I wish it had arrived last week or the week before. LOL I mean most people were getting them between 9 and 15 days. I would have been very happy with 15 day turn around. I'm a little disappointed with a 23 day turn around, but I guess I can't be to mad at them as it is still before EDD of 4/5. Although we all know that the EDD is total crap anyhow and they set it so far back just to make sure they don't lose money to having to give a customer any extra equipment or partial refund because they didn't get it their by the EDD.

I would also say that I wouldn't care if we all had to wait 3 Months for it if Dell received order/built/shipped/customers received their systems in some sort of chronological order. Shipping difference of a day or two, NO PROB. If something is backordered, NO PROB. (just let the customer know) 9 days - 23 days IMO is a huge difference and is totally unacceptable without giving the customer a reason.

@Nothing shocking - What what your last and final order date and your Delivery date? I know you had a big mess and number of orders and cancellations. I would like to know your turn around time from your most recent order date to when you received your system. Thank You!

Well wanted to be in bed a bit ago so that I get up before the delivery shows up. (if it shows up and isn't just an April Fools joke) Gonna be an extremely long day. Might even be up for over 24 hrs tomorrow. LOL. Gonna try and get some pics and post them in the M17x show off thread. Not to show off, but to help the others waiting have some new material to read and look at while they are waiting.

 

Meh. I hate April fools day. My car was stolen 2 years ago on April fools day. Also 2 other hondas were stolen the same nite at the same apartment complex.

Anyways, my replacement is set to "ship" tomorrow, not arrive tomorrow. Damn csr guy told me "it will ship on 4/1," leading me to believe it would arrive by then. Damn them and their verbiage lolz. O wells, I guess I have more time this weekend to run your bench requests.

 

So a little story.

A week ago I lost my trusty Visa check card. Same card I use for everything. Almost never carry cash anymore for anything. So had to call my bank and cancel the card and have it re-issued. I have no idea where it wandered off to but since it was being naughty I had to disown it.

This also happened to be the card I purchased my M17x on. At first I did not think anything of it because I was told that Dell already had authorization for the purchase and that it would go through when they processed it - whenever the happened to be.

But this afternoon, after I woke up from a nap (I had been up over 36 hours and needed a snooze), I had this sick feeling that Dell would not be able to collect their money and, gasp, they would try and process payment before shipping and, double gasp, a fiasco would ensue with them delaying shipping until payment was received (if they got rejected).

So since we can not have additional delays delaying my laptop from shipping I called my bank and received the bad news that, yes, since the card was canceled then any pending purchase on it would be denied regardless of an authorization number being attached to the purchase and that purchase occurring before the card was lost.

So I call Dell to get the issue resolved before they try and collect and get informed that the laptop has already shipped.

I further get informed to just call back sometime after getting it if nothing gets charged on my account within a week or two after receiving my laptop.

It was almost like being told, hey don't worry enjoy the free laptop on us!

The whole point of this, of course, is that my laptop has shipped.

No tracking number yet, no update on the Dell site but the Dell rep and the automated number say the same thing.

If I am lucky I will get it tomorrow. Well technically today since it is just after midnight.

Maybe even Saturday if FedEx delivers on Saturday for this sort of thing.

 

So technically a free laptop?? Iono, feels fishy.

 

Well, you know the right thing to do right?

 

@ those who already got their, do you mind writing the order date next to your delivery date ?

 

3/7, EDD 3/30, received 3/25 cuz of various "expedite requests."

 

1/31, EDD 4/18, received 3/16

 

Once you receive the laptop, if you get a call from them, you should give them the run around. "I need to check on something" *put them on hold for 10 minutes* "I'm gonna need to transfer you to another division, please hold" ^_^

 

Placed my order on 3/11, M17x-R3 i7-2720QM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M which I will hopefully be able to upgrade to a 485m, 16GB of HyperX 1600 ram just waiting to be installed, 750G 7200 RPM HDD(I want to get a Sata III SSD and run AHC1 but I heard some bad things about SSDs failing ALOT so idk what I should do) , 3D 1080p 120Hz Display - EDD 04/04/2011

Ive called many times to try and expedite my system and the best they would do is give me NBD shipping, they even screwed up my order,I placed it over the phone and instead of stock ram and Windows Ultimate they gave me 8gigs and Windows Home, so I blew a fit over the phone and told them they are giving me some money back and shipping me a windows Ultimate disk, they said they would as soon as I received the system but well see what happens.

 

Managed to get a very helpful rep on the phone who checked with the manufacturing factory and told me the following is on back order:
320gb Hard Drives
The 60hz 1080p Screen
2630qm Processor.

If you have any of these on your order then that's what will be holding it up! Why all the reps wont be this helpful who knows!

 

I would do that. Transfer them between my home phone and my cell phone until I could find a rep who could assist them. Might even put my 4yr old on he phone.

 

I keep getting told they can't contact the manufacturing factory..... I hate dells phone team lol, they all have there heads up there asses, when I first ordered and called to yell at them for screwing the order up they told me it was on hold b.c of the cougar point issue...I proceeded to tell them it was fixed weeks ago and the guy didn't believe me...So i told him to go look at his own damn website that lists 2nd gen i7s

 

And then the call is "mysteriously" disconnected.

 

Thanks for the info man. We have all been trying to track this info down. We couldn't pinpoint why any certain system was being held up as it was more than one thing that was on back order. I have one of those items which must be why mine had a 23 day turn around.

I really wouldn't mind much that mine was held up, if Dell could just get the info out. It's the not knowing that ticks me off. And not knowing why people who order 9 days after me receive theirs before me, really burns me when I don't know why.

NOTE TO DELL: Your customers would be much happier if there was more info given to them after the sale. About 99% of the phone answer-ers are worthless and don't care about the customer and do nothing to try and help them out at all. Instead they are reading stuff off of the webpage which we already read ourselves. They are just their collecting a paycheck. I think you need a brief survey at the end of each call. "Was this rep helpful for you today? 1=great 2=good 3=bad 4=terrible Thank you for your time, have a nice day!"

Of course I do. Heck tried to correct it once already but the Rep would not let me.

Maybe there is a reason he could not at that juncture. Or maybe he just did not want.to see me double charged if both transactions went through.

So I'll wait till next week and try again.

 

Hey guys, I have been following NBR AW forum since december(ordered one in Jan, but got cancelled by recall). I just reordered one w/ 2720, 6970, 4gigs, and 320 HD. I will upgrade to intel 510 120gb and 8gig Hyper-X. The EDD is 4/26, will call for NBD around next week.

I'm a little disappointed because the GF's got here yesterday around 0945 and it's almost 1020 now and the FedEx guy hasn't shown up yet. As per the FedEx site it was on the truck for delivery 20 min earlier than her's was yesterday. I can't understand why it's not here yet. I figured that it would have been here by 1000 at the latest! These last few hours are brutal!!!

I even shut the computer down around 0930 and was just staring out the window waiting for him to show up. I gave up on that though. It was on the truck for delivery 20 min sooner than the GF's was yesterday.

The worst part is dell sent the info to FedEx on the 28th and FedEx didn't pick it up until 31st. If they would have picked it up just one day sooner. I would have received it when my GF's showed up yesterday @ 0945!!!

I was thinking pigs, but monkeys work too. lol Just so you know my order was "preparing to ship" for 4-5 days. The phone system and Order Status page didn't update until I called the automated line and somehow ended up talking to someone. (was just going to listen to the automated message and didn't intend on talking to anyone) After I got off the phone I check the Order status page again and it said shipped and then called the automated number and punched my order number in and it too then said shipped.

Just ordered mine through AAFES;

Base everything, except;

1080p screen, 60hz
AMD 6970 2gb card

$1512 shipped to my door.

I have 2x2gb DDR3 DIMMS that I will install for a total of 8gb, (I'll hang on until I see a good deal on 4x4gb sticks from Newegg and get those.)

Already have a 240gb OCZ SSD and a 750gb 7200rpm Seagate for the drives.

Only other thing I think I'll get will be a nice USB DAC, but that's a bit later.

Should make a nice primary to my M11X R1.

 

Ok I think I just figured something out that may help the rest of you once your order goes into "Preparing To Ship" status.

Go here: https://www.fedex.com/AltRefTracking

Copy your Order Number from your Order Status page. (should be 4th line down) Put that into the big box on that page, probably leave the date part alone as you don't know when it shipped. Select your destination country, and put in your destination postal code. Click on track and should give you something.

I just did it with mine and it pulled up the same tracking info that I already have, but Dell isn't updating people and this may be a way to get a hold of some info by cutting dell out of the picture.

Any of you that are in the "Preparing to Ship" status please try and let me know if it works for you.

The key is, Your Dell order number is the same as what FedEx is calling the Reference number.

 

Interested to see if this works for you Kalakzak. Anyone else who is in the Preparing to Ship Status. Kalakzak is the only one I remember off the top of my head that is in Preparing to Ship.
