M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 3

Oh ****. I have been patient. Havent even called in once .
ESD 4/14 and EDD 4/19.
if they say 5/12 is the new EDD, I'd just have to wait it out. Its like poker, Why fold the hand when you're in with the blinds !

 

Ordered on 3/21 with a delivery date of 4/14. Got pushed back to 4/22. I just called one of the numbers in this thread and it said it was being built.

I think I'm going to call and to get free next day delivery. Also, my laptop has been "In Production" for a few weeks now, so I wonder what's up.

 

It finally shipped!! Ordered 3/9 and according to fedex with my 7 day shipping it will be here tomorrow can't wait!

 

There is a shortage of parts for the M17x R3. Supposedly, they are receiving a shipment of parts by this Friday.

 

The fedex website has my delivery day as tomorrow, and since my city is the main fedex hub, it's not too farfetched

 

What Configuration did you go with? Did you have any bonus software or accessories shipped with it?

Please Keep me informed. If yours gets there then mine isn't far behind. After the wait and all of the delays everyone is getting i could use some good news on it.

I've paid this much for it already might as well keep it up to date.

Yeah mine got pushed back as well. Only a few days but if you don't have NBD then that could explain why its saying it will arrive the 22. If you call and are able to get NBD then it should push it up a few days. I can't see any excuse for yours to come after mine since the only difference is the Ram Hard Drive and Processor. Which to be honest you could have upgraded cheaper outside of dell for a couple of those. Im kind of curiouse as to what the Reps would say to your order being delayed that much.

 

With the M18X specs already leaked and all that, im still wondering if I should return my M17X R3 and just pay the difference for the M18X if thats even possible. Is it worth getting the M18X at this point?

 

Main reason I'm not doing this is because potential problems with eariler models of the M18x, just like with the M17x (from what I've read).

 

I was also thinking there would be more errors too. Plus the overheating with dual graphics cards, I mean im pretty sure my graphics card can play Crysis 2 perfect itself ( 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6970M )

 

The thing about the R3 and the M18x is really just what you would use it for. Im going to use mine for School. I know that sounds wierd but im going into Game/Art design so i needed a computer that could handle Rendering 3d objects. Although i know there are alot of Laptops that could do this just fine i also needed one i wont have to replace any time soon. The M18x seems like a laptop that would not be portable. It will most likely not have very good Battery life and it may run a little hot. I wont be able to keep it on my Cooler constantly so I chose the R3. I chose the 3d for my own Enjoyment even though the 2gb 6970 has more power you have to admit that the 460 is still more than enough to play most games on High or highest settings. Always when considering a new purchase you have to see which model bests suits your needs. So if the m18x is what your looking for and your still within the 21 days then i would say Send it back and wait for the m18x even though we still don't have a definate date on when that will be released. If you need to take this laptop with you constantly and still want the power of a gaming machine then i would suggest the m17x r3. We cant really choose which is the better idea since we all would have different needs from our computers. Like you stated it plays crysis perfectly so there is no lack of power there. so the main thing you need to figure out is if the Screen size and the extra GPU is worth giving up portablility Battery life and more than likley a more stable Average Temperature. Another thing that would get me is where would you find a bag that could fit that massive thing? I mean the book bag i got was expensive as it is.

 

I ordered a 17 R3 I'm sticking to it even tho my delivery date is april 28th. Every SLI Xfire Laptop I have owned has has so many problems. Micro Stuttering to heat problems to having to turn off SLI Xfire in order to play certain games without constant annoying crashes and tearing. I need the laptop for a mobile system that runs stable and cool . Dual GPU's are too much of a headache. And I dont see how a 240w brick is gonna run a M18x when clevo is putting out a optional dual 330w bricks for there SLI Xfire set up for the X7200. There has to be a time you have to stand back and say do I really wanna risk it. This time I choose not too.

I really wanted to order a Clevo X7200 cause of the ability to have 3 hardrives But I just couldnt wait for the SB update for that laptop. I havent owned an alienware since the dell buyout so I thought I would give them another chance to win me back. Waiting for the 29th and praying this thing isnt DOA like my last AW laptop

 

Anyone receive an R3 lately?

My replacement is still the same: "In production in build stage," and the csr guy hasnt responded to any emails...

FedEx tracking site shows my R3 is on the truck for delivery today! Yeahhh!! I almost want to skip work today to be here but as long as my wife isn't in the shower or otherwise detained when the delivery is made, I should be fine.

Looking at the calendar, if I take delivery today it will be exactly four weeks since the date of order, not too bad considering what some of my AW Fan Boyz around here have had to stomach but it sure seems like it's been forever!

I was thinking about getting the m18x, haha but with all the commotion about dual GPU's and their constant problems, I've reached a verdict.. Keep the r3 'cuz it's awesome! Plus I already have an Asus G53 for backup. I don't need a 4th laptop, geez. I hope you guys get your r3's soon enough!!

Hope you guys don't mind a question from another product line. I have been waiting on a Dell XPS17 since 1 March, and just got the news that I am now looking at 25 May for an EDD, which seems pretty long to me. My order is for i7-2820QM, 16gig of ram, GT 555M 3GB graphics card, and 2X 640 gig 7200rpm hard drives. I am getting a little tired of the XPS runaround, and configuring an M17 seemed to give no indications of delays. So my question is, are these just as backlogged/delayed with the accompanying BS excuses as with the XPS17? Thanks!

 

I agree I had an sli with dual graphic cards (not an alienware) and it ran very hot and stuttered. I have had my M17x r3 for 2 days now and it is still amazing me. The 6790 graphics are stunning imo. I have been ill so haven't been able to use it as much as I would like, but played a bit of STO and it was like a different game.

Email didn't work well with me with my order. Calling and talking to a rep worked much better.

 

I ordered my 3d m17x on 3/23 with an edd of 4/14, called dell on 4/12 and they said that my order has been delayed to 4/18 and that I would def. receive it before or on that date. Nowi just received a call from del informing that my edd has now changed to 5/12. ?!?!?!?!? I AM SO PISSED. I needed the laptop before the 26th because I won't be in the country the whole month of may. This bs man.

 

what are your specs?

 

Man this is tough. I can Keep my order for the M17x and wait till late May, but the idea of CFX graphics sounds amazing, especially with the amazing scaling with ATI. Is it worth switching to the M18x when it launches?

 

X-Fire on ATI has not worked right for a few driver revisions, people are having major issues with a mix and match of graphical glitches mixed with horrible flickering with X-Fire on.

 

I wonder why the mobile cards have so many problems? Drivers?

 

I got the m17x 3d 120hz screen, the 460m gpu, 2820 cpu, 8gb of ram, 320 stock hdd, the 6300 wireless n card. The funny thing is if you go on dells website right now and order a brand new m17x 3d with same specs you get an edd of 5/12, I ordered on 3/23 and I have an edd of 5/12 how mesed up is that.

 

In transit now, fedex shows location. Should be here saturday

 

That's terrible. I would hope that you'll get yours way before 5/12 and if not, then the orders now probably wont ship out until the end of may.

in all honesty it was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Priced it out, saw they had the 6970 in stock, and im like buy a new alienware laptop? WHY NOT ROFL

 

I canceled my order. Tired of waiting for nothing. 3/23 order, 4/14 EDD (today!), and they update it TODAY saying it is now 5/12. I pulled out my phone and told them to cancel right away, not waiting another month and hoping I'm not delayed again, when I could just buy one from someone on here.

 

Same thing happened to me today...Ordered on 3/23....EDD was 4/19...now it's 5/16. I knew something would happen if I ordered from Dell...too many people've posted about their bad experiences....

I did manage to get some information though. Turns out the XPSs and M17Xs are having motherboard issues....rep didn't clarify...but I'm guessing that's their way of saying "backordered"..... =/

Keeping my fingers crossed though...lots of people have reported that they've experienced 1 month delays, and ended up getting their product a week after the delay occurred...but then again...there's the other side, where orders get delayed AGAIN and are auto-cancelled by Dell?....... >_<

Just letting you know, not only is Dell delaying orders by over a month, they're also releasing new drivers that are erasing certain functionality that originally came with the R3.

Refer to the audio driver thread for information. I'm seriously considering canceling my order now that Dell decided to screw over their customers who are paying TWO THOUSAND+ dollars for their products.

 

I hate reading bad news, especially when it means I'll probably be waiting another month for my new R3. Currently, I haven't received any information about a delay from Dell.

GOD. My replacement order was cancelled according to 1800ALIENWA and checking online. I called this afternoon and the guy said that it was cancelled cuz of the delay of nameplates... So supposedly they put in a new order for me and the new EDD is 4/21. He said he would email me the order number etc, but nutting. Sheesh!

 

Sorry bro. What site and number are you using to check the status of the laptop? And what info are you typing or giving, Order num?

 

Well that EDD is only 2 weeks away at least. With the ongoing trend however, I wouldn't be too surprised to see that EDD being delayed by another week or two.

Well mine arrived Thursday afternoon. I have only had a few hours to check it out. It is a pretty damned nice machine, very well built. I have not found any problems yet.

I hate to do too much configuration or customization since I am waiting on my SSD order and I'll be doing a fresh build.

4 weeks to the day for my order to complete. I am a happy camper.

 

It seems that a couple people who had EDD's in late April are receiving theirs a week or two early. Maybe the early May EDD's will get theirs a week or two earlier also !!

 

Googled "dell order status" and clicked the first one. Punched in my order # and zip code. Called 1800ALIENWA, option 2, option 1, punched in my order #. Transferred to dell's order status system, punched in my order # again. "This order has been cancelled."
