Ups does that all the time, they don't scan it when it moves. When I had to ship my laptop out for repair the first time it had no scans from MA to TX. I called because I thought they couldn't find it, but it arrived on time

I thought new laptops shipped from China; mine shipped right from TN? Someone else's tracking it showed theirs coming from China into the US and it was also new. Why are new laptops coming from different places

So my laptop arrived at my house which no one is home until 530 tonight. What did they do with my $3500 laptop? Left it at my door. It says signature required right on the tracking information but now it's sitting in 20 degree weather probably on a patch of ice for all the neighbors to see. It better frickin be there tonight and not damaged or I'm going to lose it.

You can yes. They will see on the tracking on their side that there seems to be a problem with it. They can then work with the delivery dudes to figure out what's going on, or do a good faith refund or replacement.

well, your situation is still a lot better than the other guy (at least it is not out in the street), leaving 3k laptop out in the open... I would have sued them, forget about sueing, I would have bombed the damn delivery company!!

If I call anyone it would be FedEx because it wasn't Dell that left it at my door. They labeled it as overnight priority direct signature so Dell did their part. It was the idiot from FedEx.

    ha ha...mine came through China > Korea > Kazakhstan > Poland > Germany > UK 7/12/11

then they lost the track of my parcel. wasted two working days and finally contacted duty manager last night and she's very helpful and got a call today saying that my parcel will deliver before 11am.

I have nothing better to do than wait for my Alien and i am very curious about how much time it can take to produce an M17x.. the time between the purchase and the having it in your hand.

Curious about shipping to USA but i would enjoy having canadian shipping data.. since i assume that all Alienware are shipped from within the US.

How long did you had to wait ?

My answer: more than a month but i have a DELL curse.. technically im at 15days since they killed my november 15 order and had to redo it for crap reason.

as i was saying before my post got deleted/moved.. thank you Froogle for pointing here.. i learned its produced in China :)

    China -> US -> Canada -> Montreal
From nov 30 to today dec 13..
all i see.. its STILL in production, didn't moved an inch, probably not shipped yet, no mail, no call, nothing.

Next time, it will be faster to buy a baseball bat and mug an M17X owner! [off course, im kidding.. even tho our alienware backpack/case advertise a pricy laptop to robbers by the alien logo on it]

Looking back through the threads (there are 3 others prior to this one - that's how heated debate is on this topic) it averages about 7 or 8 days from order. However, there have been cases of it taking 3 weeks or more (but they are rare). On the flipside, there have also been cases just a couple of months back where about 4 people got their machines with zero updates on the Dell site - it flipped to In Production and stayed there, and remained there even as Fedex/UPS handed over the machines.

Truth of the matter is, with Dell, you really have to just sit and wait. In your case I'd be on the phone every day - you may at the very least get free stuff out of it.

Well, I followed my own advice and ignored my order status completely. Today I got a phone call from Dell telling me the M17xR3 I ordered on the 6th was in production. An hour later I got a shipping notification.

Should be here tomorrow :) Can't be soon enough as I've had to work this week on my M11xR2 - it's a fine machine, but struggles a bit under the weight of numerous VM's and Windows dev tools.

Yeah I'm looking forward to it greatly. I have a directory here full of stuff I've downloaded that must go on the machine rapidly. Also tying with whether or not to run Virtual Box for my Linux work or dual boot. After reading the threads about the modified bios and how to disable the IGP I think I may just go with Dual boot and get REALLY blown away.

yea not dealing with opti-mess is really nice, and with the modded bios you can run linux, (might have to work on that one of these days) :)

I'm just playing with system to check any faults. seems all good. I might install modded bios. I have AMD card but I never plan to use iGPU. Another thing is modded bios give us more options. BTw i have A09 bios.

Interesting - it was supplied with A09? Anyone know if there are any built in restrictions preventing us from rolling back?

I kinda dislike having to disable the Integrated GPU - after all, it's a feature of the machine we all paid for, and there is a battery hit. Ultimately though I think the benefits of not having it (in my case for example being able to run Linux without messing around with Bumblebee) is worth it.

Ok.. all seems to good except there are some micro dust parts inside display. Not noticeble unless you look very close. I notice this when i try to apply screen guard.

Another thing is media touch bar create marks in the screen. I manage to remove it by wipe, but in long term they might stay there for good. Screen guard only cover display area.

I ordered mine on 12/8/2011 and it is going to be delivered tomorrow with the overnight shipping.
There is something bothering me since it was shipped from ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL.
What do you think of this?
