I have 580 system that arrived in December... I get no throttling it runs skyrim, perfectly and it is just sat flat on a logitech laptop stand, no extra cooling, no extra gaps...

Did you use the throttle fix?
If its a stable card might as well get it with the free 3D screen and save 60$

No, straight out of the box...

Your looking for issues before it has even shipped.....

Just wondering if a unit has a estimated delivery date of 12-28-11 do you think the holiday still might delay it??

A lot!! (About £2500 after 15% off and with free shipping). I think the most expensive upgrade was the hard drive combo but I understand there is a shortage at the mo?

Ouch! Should have upgraded to an SSD aftermarket though -> a Crucial 256GB would have been better :p

Defo made the right choice with the 6990M.

Hey guys, ordered my m17x on the 28th of Dec and I have a question!

First, this is the setup I went with. Ordered through Aafes and is being shipped to an APO address in Kuwait. Total price was $1,823.34

    Alienware M17x Soft-Touch, Stealth Black
    Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHz (3.1GHz w/Turbo Boost, 6MB Cache)
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz (4DIMMS)
    17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
    2GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M
    256GB Solid State Drive
    Custom Nameplate
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
    Killer Wireless-N 1103

Ordered on the 28th of Dec 2011 with an estimated arrival date of 13 JAN 2012 ( Next day shipping )

That order status was "changed" by Dell 2 days later on the 30th, I was not notified of the change, but I presume this is because I used Aafes. A new order was created by Dell, everything was the same except the shipping method and EAD.

The new shipping method was 5-7 days and the new EAD was 13 FEB 2012.

My question is will the cancelation or "Change" of the old order delay the build time? I am not really too upset about it. The 1/13/12 arrival date seemed a bit fast for an APO ship. But a whole extra month?

Oh! and one other question. Does anyone know if Dell will ship this AW with insurance or perhaps registered mail? Thanks for the help guys!

Hey guys! I'm a little confused about my order status. I checked the website, and it says that my order is In Production, but when I called the customer service number, the computer said that my order "Shipped on January 11th and will arrive on or before January 16th".

    It's January 5th. What's going on?

Sounds like some kind of glitch in their system, or maybe they are planning to ship it the 11th for delivery the 16th.

First, grats for your new acquisition!!! Hope you enjoy it mate!

Although my question is... do anybody knows if dell/alienware got any priority system?!... I ordered pretty much the same laptop on dec. 29th too and they told me I should get it around jan. 16th... I ordered in Canada... I know transit time will probably be a little bit longer (Let's say couple of days) but I assume the ''production'' process should be done by now.

depends on the demand for the system. My machine took three weeks to get here from my order date with Next Best Day shipping all the way here to alaska. It took so long due to high demand for the m17x back in apirl. perhaps the demand for the system is high again, or they are waiting for a parts shipment. :)

I understand the supply and demand concept... but what shoots me is the fact that we all ordered the same thing the same day but haven't been told the same thing EDD wise... like we said... we live in North America so China to here is prolly gonna take longer... but from the starting point, they should leave at somehow roughly the same time...unless dec. 29th is been a freaking busy day for them... maybe they stack up priority (orders) by countrys no matter what has been order that day for this country...

Diffrent time zones at 3 diffrent locations. 10 am in UK is more or less 3 am in us, but 8 pm in china. US 29th day time is 30th in China already?
Correct me if im wrong :)

You're right buddy! Didn't think about that one... but few hours setting us a week apart... (Eu/NA) that's another thing... I wonder if somebody that ordered dec. 28th from North America would be close to getting it. (Keeping shipping out of the equation). Are their facilities 24/7?! I know no need to tell me...I just wait and see... but I want my toy nooowwww!!! Lol ;)

guys, it takes about 8-9 days for delivery from the order for NA (usually), EU orders take a little bit longer as we have seen many occasions..

You're probably right... I just chatted with a guy from dell website and he said that it shipped from warehouse (US) yesterday and that I should receive it within the next 3 business days... as for the EU part, that is funny since the thing is nearer from them... logistic is sometime funny though...

If I receive it, let's say wednesday, I'll be really impressed...

    Now i feel kinda special.
Mogana ordered on 29th and gets his shipped already. I ordered on 15th and mine is still "In Production". Mines not put up in a hurry and throuroughly tested? Or perhaps they dont care for EU as much.

P.S. J/K with urs being put up in hurry- it will be great I'm sure :)

The order status site linked from the confirmation email says that it's In Production. When I go to the generic Order Status site on support.dell.com, I get a "partially shipped" notification with a tracking number. When I call, it says that it "shipped on January 11th". When I talked to a person, they said that it's being "flown to the carrier", whatever that means.

Geez! I have no idea what to make of all this.

I ordered mine on December 23 and had an original delivery date of 01/09/2012. Last nite it updated to 01/16/2012
Im not sure what the hold up could be. If I placed my order last week the website said estimate delivery date of 01/7/2012.
Why is it that if I did a system build 2 weeks later with the same options it says a Delivery date sooner than mine even before the delay?

Honestly, with all I read about delayed stuffs and soemhow unreliable infos on shipping... I'm gonna believe mine was shipped when the courrier will knock on my door... Mine still shows ''In production'' on the site so... I'm not totally convinced but this whole waiting situation is kinda exciting eheheh!

I just called and chatted with two guys and now they're saying that they're late and that it would be shipping in 2 to 3 days... ?! Exactly what I was saying... I don't like waiting! AHAHAH!!! :D Seriously they're full of it! Let's take bet... who's lying?!

It's funny because I was thinking about it and for some reason I got a feeling that the first guy I talked to seemed more dedicated... Maybe he checked deeper... He actually took some time to get back to me saying it was shipped... The other two guys just told me right away that it was in production... Just as I would had gone myself to check the order status... I know there's a way to check the "in production" stage it's at so it's prolly what the first guy checked... It's beautiful to dream lol ;-)

I ordered my computer on december 26th and was given an estimated shipping date of january 5th and an estimated delivery date of January 12th. When January 5th arrived, my order was still in the "in production" stage. I thought to myself nothing of it and kept thinking that it would ship maybe over the weekend or on monday. Monday came and still nothing. It was still in production. I called customer support but they just repeated back the same things that i already knew. Then at 12:56 am today my order was delayed and was to be delivered on January 20th. I called customer support and when the automated machine repeated my order back to me, it said that my order was shipped on january 16th and was to be delivered on the 20th. I thought that i just heard the machine wrong so i called again and sure enough, it still said my order had been shipped on january 16th. I tried speaking to a rep but the lines had already closed.

Im just wondering if anyone has had a similar story or can give me advice on what to do.

It's funny how when you first customize it, it tells you it's gonna be delivered that day and when you're done it goes 10 days later... any parts that drag you later or what?! Cause mine was not showing anything that could retard the process and boom... 01/13 to 01/16... as for the price drop, they would probably match if it's the exact same specs... I know there is a law for that in Quebec Province... maybe Canada as well... maybe the whole world works like that... here it's 30 days... If price is considerably lower you could always send it back (RMA) and order another one AHAHAH! You would probably be put on a black list tho! :p
