You might have to tweak it a bit - I had an auto-reloader on the Dell Order Status page for my first couple of days, and after a few hours of refreshes every 10 minutes it started throwing up error pages, YMMV. Nice job though.

Did you end up skipping out on the 3D screen for now? I have to go for it all right now just like my Canucks :D We don't have the nice young nucleus that you Oilers do!

well, its end of the day and I still have not received any email regarding my order being shipped, and status page remained as in production. I contacted the rep he said it still shows no warning for delay but he said he cant guarantee it will be delivered on EDD of 7/20 now, ...

The same thing happened to me. My order was supposed to ship today and arrive tomorrow but apparently it is still in the "final stage of production". (According to my sales rep)

So my EDD is 7/20 and I have overnight shipping, so if all goes well mine will be shipping tomorrow to New York. If it gets delayed I might kill a small animal. My rep says everything is on schedule so I'm crossing my fingers. I've been laptop-less for 2 weeks now.

Well it's 8:13pm pst, my EDD still says 7/19 tomorrow. I know its mid-day in china, however if they shipped now, would it be on a truck for delivery tomorrow morning. That's very tight. I don't think it's going to happen. I'm just annoyed that they don't update the status.

Just bear in mind that there have been stories of people getting a knock on their door from the friendly neighborhood delivery truck driver without their order status ever updating. That's what I'm hoping for at this point, being in the same boat.

Very true. I heard sometimes people get them and their order updates to shipping DAYS after they get it. *crosses fingers*

Its just annoying when you spend 2grand + for a laptop. I buy little nothings from amazon all the time and am constantly updated with whats going on.

@OblastSRT4 - I recognize your tag, did you ever play Return to Castle Wolfenstien in a CLAN, like 6 years ago?

All of those will run on the same settings. Alan Wake is pretty badly optimized considering the level of graphics it has. All of those will run on medium/high. Put it this way, the 660m will run any game out now and make them look good @ anywhere from 30-60fps. The 660m is a pretty nice card but its not really meant to run anything/everything on Ultra. Those are jobs for the 7970m/680m.

Maybe it's a problem with the custom graphics cards everyone here is ordering, or maybe the 750gb hard drive. if mine does this, i will literally cry.

Not so much the 3d, more the processor and killer wireless. I don't think upgrading the wireless card should be too painful in the future though. I have a 3d tv and the 3d gaming on PS3 kinda lost its novelty. If I really want I could connect to the tube with the laptop I guess.

If the Oil push for the playoffs this year (assuming cba junk gets figured out) I will be happy.

I'm going to harass my dell rep tomorrow on my day off, the guy still hasn't answered my email from three days ago! (pointed at you Dell CS screeners!)

Turns out I didn't make it to bed.

Maybe xxspark89xx post was correct about what support said as to the black bases being out of stock, I'm not sure about the "end of life" statement, however since your (@OblastSRT4) system is Red, you may be okay. There are so many factors. I wish they would provide a power user status. I understand they don't want their production issues available to the competition, but I'm sure all mfg's experience problems due to various issues.

I would love to see more details on these delays, like :
Delayed - Outer case molding units 8 though 15 damaged due to flash flood
Delayed - Day 4 - Still awaiting response to Ticket #23556 from IT Department on Manufacturing Control Server.
Delayed - Worker uprising in Cooling Fan Factory #4

Boy... it's getting late better sleep now.

Mine is black, and the status just switched to 'Shipped', YEAH! Shipping by UPS, no tracking number yet.

Today Dell will collect my XPS17 that I ordered on 7/03 and was delivered on 7/11. I found the touchpad to be horrible and the gpu much weaker than I anticipated. The m17x is a replacement for it of some sort.

How do I add a signature? It's not in my profile settings. Perhaps I am too new and don't have the rights yet...

Could it be Intel being responsible for the delays? The 3610qm appears to be mighty popular. Another thing is that Ivy Bridge was delayed initially, allegedly due to yield problems.

When I called this order in as a replacement for the XPS17, I stressed that I needed to have the laptop 7/27 at the latest, and if that would not be possible that I would order it in September. I asked the Dell sales rep to investigate whether any part of my config would cause a delay, because I could then maybe choose an alternative for a certain component not being a problem. He kept me on hold for 3 minutes and everything was fine for my scheduled production date if I would order that day. On Monday we spoke again and he said that my order was on plan for being shipped the second half of the week, with a probable delivery the first half of next week. He said he could not give any specific details on what part of the production process it was in, because he cannot access this information, and none of his colleagues (in Holland) can. At least all he said to me appears to be right on the ball, because now, Thursday, it indeed switched to 'shipped'.

Probably we'll never know what the real reasons for the delays are. In this case it could be that this missing component just arrived the last few days and the orders are shipped out now before the weekend and most of us will receive it next week. Stay optimistic.

Got a delayed email this morning (after status went to shipped yesterday), the tracking info is empty at WWI tho it's supposed to be passed to UPS once it reaches the UK.

    Original EDD 20th/July - new EDD 2nd/Aug

I suspect it's sitting on a pallet on the shop floor somewhere in china waiting until they have a full load to ship out.

That's scary, mostlygeek. With the XPS17 Dell also gave me quite a scare. The status switched to shipped, an hour later I received an e-mail with the EDD of 8/08(!! Yes August!) with a tracking link that ended in a UPS page with no info. Half a day later the UPS page showed it would be delivered at 7/09, as it was, 3 days early.

Call me fool ;-) but I expect my m17x to arrive on Monday. My XPS17 switched to shipped on a Friday morning and it was here the next Monday.

got an email from my Dell rep today, saying they had to move my ship date from the July 23rd to August 4th.

Checked the Order tracking page and it showed every stage complete.
an hour later, I get a call from Dell, saying my computer has shipped (July 19th), and 5 minutes after that, I got a tracking number...

I've read about the exact same thing happening to other people... Thats like the weirdest thing, something in Dell's tracking system must be fouling things up to produce these conflicting messages...

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy its with UPS now ^^

Well i've just had a phone call from a very nice Dell Support rep (thanks AJ), who's informed me that the WWI tracking info is incorrect, which is the reason i've had no updates and also the cause of the delayed delivery email.

Turns out, it's been with UPS since the status went to shipped and i'm tracking it make it's way across Europe now. Back to the original EDD :)

So, if you do get a delayed email or your missing tracking info from WWI, it might actually be a good thing.

I'm starting to believe the order tracking site is driven by an automated system.

Here is a run-down of my story:

    - Ordered 7/4: m17x black|3720QM|680M|1080p 3D|8GB RAM|750GB HDD|Blu-ray|Killer-N
    - Went into production the evening of 7/4
    - Estimated ship date of 7/18 and EDD of 7/20 (2nd Day Shipping)
    - On 7/18, called to inquire:
Result: Was told order could be processed because lack of black "bases". Was asked if red was okay? I agreed thinking it wouldn't hang up the order. Then I was told in order to switch, the original order would have to be cancelled and a new one created. I got upset thinking I'd have to wait another two to three weeks. I also made the point: If there weren't any black bases available, then why didn't I receive a call within the first week of placing my order?
    - The evening of 7/18, I received a call back from my rep:
Result: They looked into my order with the manufacturing team, and my order specifically was one of the lucky ones that wasn't effected by this delay. My laptop is still in production and should ship ASAP. My shipping speed has also been upgraded to "Next Day Delivery".
    - This morning of 7/19 (at approx 3:55am EDT), I received an e-mail saying my order was delayed by dell with a new EDD of 7/26.
    - Checked my order status page, says updated EDD of 7/26, and shipping speed: 2nd day delivery.

Has anyone gotten a "Your order has been delayed" email, but then their order got shipped within their original EDD?

I believe the tracking is an automated system, an algorithm set to have the page display a delay when it passes the time frame for shipment and hasn't been updated manually in the system. Think of it this way - how bad would it look if it still said: EDD of up to or by 7/18 and today is the 7/19? People would panic, making it look like Dell wasn't on-top of everything.

Will keep y'all posted on any updates!

    argh,

    same with my order:

Original Estimated Delivery Date : 07/20/2012

New Estimated Delivery Date : 07/26/2012

How could they communicate the delay at such a late stage of the process? They should have these kind of info way earlier, do they really expect to received the missing parts maybe a day or two prior to ship date and can still meet the deadline by rushing the order out without properly test it? I know XoticPC and Sager have burn-in period for their laptops prior to shipping it out, this really makes me wonder all the threads that I read with people just received their R4 and having problems with them.

Sad day indeed for those with the delayed EDD news... Sigh.

yea i know, thankfully work is keeping me busy otherwise i would have canceled my order when I first saw the original EDD...

I am just hoping that I get it soon, i have a few plans that are getting backed up because of all this.

I think it may have to do with the 680m and 3D screen. Anybody who ordered with the 680m gotten theirs yet?

    Order Date was July 6th

I had ordered earlier, really, but they accepted and then canceled my order on July 4th, I think cause the combined discount of a special 3D bundle combo price from one of their distribution partners and an additional $200 discount coupon had made it pretty cheap... I kept calling them talking to different people, until they re-instated the order on the 6th, since the special offer had expired on the 4th...

Redid my order after having forgotten to get the FHD 1920x1080 display.

Order went through on July 13th, EDD is July 27th.

Status of order has remained unchanged for the past 6 days at "In progress"

Just received an e-mail from "dell.delivery.update" with the UPS tracking code that is not active just yet. Dell indicates that the planned delivery date is 7/23, that's indeed next Monday.

    3620 7970 1920 500G Blck

Of course I've got an Intel 520 (240gb) and 16gb (2x8) of Corsair Vengeance RAM coming from NewEgg. ;)

...literally as soon as my *** hit the chair my phone rang. It was a little creepy. Dell CSR, explaining that there was a delay. No, he had no information on the cause of the delay, but I'm getting the "bestest computer in the world with Dell," and the production and testing take time and it is still in production. But he has assured me (for the second or tenth time) that he's going to have them expedite my order! yay?

    yep,

I got the same "expedite" bs too, but I dont know if it's good thing and they rush the unit out and cut time out of the QA. I see quite a few R4 posts about their new laptop having problems etc. On a bright side, at least the rep I spoke with changed my 2nd business day delivery to next business day...
