M17x Order Status Discussion - Part 4

I wouldn't worry about them cutting corners because of that particular aspect, as I think you probably had 'expedite' pegged correctly as nothing but BS, just something to placate a customer - like offering them NBD shipping.

 

Okay, now I'm getting even more "steamed". Just went to configure the same setup that I had ordered through the dell.com website, and they are offering a special promotion - 15% off.

This results in over $400 dollars off of the cost that I had PAID for the product that is still being processed and has been delayed.

 

yea, so am I, but if I cancel my order now and re-order with the discount, I will potentially take even longer to get my order because more new buyers will order due to the discount, you just cant freaking win in any scenario...

 

Wow. My system was originally about $2,750 after taxes. I haggled a bit and got him down to $2,550 after taxes (not a massive discount, but enough to make me happy). Exact same computer with the new 15% discount is $2,484.01 - after taxes.

...now I really have to consider what I plan to do, because this is just getting ridiculous, especially since I haven't actually paid them for my order yet (so far as I'm aware, they charge it at the time that your receive it, not at the time of order).

 

Yep, same situation here. New discount comes out 270$ less on the system I just ordered a week ago

Waiting another 2 weeks will be unbearable, but that's too much to pass up even if I have to reorder.

 

Talking to my sales rep at the moment - it's probably worth a call to Dell. He's told me that there was a minor delay somewhere along the way and said that although he couldn't say for sure, he suspected it was with the 680m card, as nvidia was taking their sweet time getting them out and they had to find another distributor.

He also told me that my new EDD of the 25th is very realistic and it will probably be here sooner, as he currently shows it between their manufacturer and Fedex distribution.

One last thing, concerning the 15% discount - he was willing to bring down my total to match the discounted price, which basically resulted in another $50 off. Small potatoes I suppose, considering it pretty much null and voided the haggling I did but a concession is a concession I suppose, and he doesn't have to redo the order.

 

Thanks, I'm going to give my rep a call later today and had wondered if they could simply discount me without redoing the order.

 

The discount that alienware is offering now is nice but I am still happy with the price I got from my rep. I customized an m17x with my specs a few minutes ago and after the discount it comes to about 19xxx BEFORE tax (a savings of about $360). I got mine for 1750 after tax so that makes me happy. Its still a killer deal for people who order online, plus you can use it as leverage to get an even better deal if you call a rep to place your order.

 

Just configured it but seems to me they raised the prices since I ordered my laptop.

 

That was my result too.

Do you by any chance have the 3720qm and the 680m? That's the only correlation I see with other old orders that haven't been shipped yet. Here:

ok guys,

so I just got off the phone with my rep, I didnt blow up on him, he was quite nice and understanding about the frustration. I also pointed out the new promotion discount is adding insult to injury, and he was willing to talk to his manager about it. Apparently, there are a lot of people who still havent received their order calling about it too, so they are willing to do price adjustment. I saved another $300 and they gave me next business day delivery too. I still have to wait, but at least it's a bit easier to swallow with the price adjustment from the price discount promotion.

 

Hmmm I think ill give my rep a call to see if I can get the 15% stuff off mine

Maybe, my rep had trouble finding it in their system - I had to direct him to the Alienware site under 'featured promotions', and he had to configure it by hand.

Secondly, as stated above a million times, my EDD is tomorrow and my online status still says "In production", so I called the automated order status EPP line and it says SHIPPED yesterday and will receive on or before 7/20! SO yea, mine shipped. They need a better online SYSTEM!!!@! Its kind of amazing that I paid $2000 for a laptop and dont even have a tracking number for it.

 

Yeah, there was an announcement that they were updating today. Can you please message me the phone number for the EPP line?

I would definitely try the 3D out again once you have the lappy. The 3D on the PC is definitely better than PS3, especially if you bump up the depth.

I just checked and my computer has shipped but the EDD changed from the 25th to the 26th but I have 2nd day shipping but I haven't got the email yet on my acesserys I got the email after the status changed on the site

I called the EPP line for my order status and received a message from the future that my laptop shipped on 7\23
I also have the 3720 and 680M with a current EDD of 7\27

 

So I'm guessing that the automated number is for purchases through EPP and not if I got a deal through the Sales Thread right?

 

Im not sure to be honest. What happened was I used Dell Chat to ask about my order status but she said she couldn't help me because I purchased using EPP, so she gave me a number to call that was for the EPP orders.

The website still hasn't updated and says my order is in production. I cant wait to play on this thing tomorrow.

 

Can't wait for next tueday to get my computer

Arrived on the original EDD, so the only problem was with the order tracking/delay notification email.

Anyone else manage to get the new discount applied on their current order? I called Laura this morning and she didn't offer anything, I couldn't even cancel and re-order.

 

Order was delayed twice. I called today to cancel and they did and built the exact same computer plus the 15% savings and I saved $565

 

I was able to yesterday, but I was being nice and polite when I was expressing my frustration with the delay. I didnt even have to cancel my current order to get the 15%, I saved $300+ and they upgraded my shipping to Next Business day too.

 

My order shipped about 20 minutes ago via FedEx and is to be delivered on Monday. (YAY)

I find it odd though as I have never had any of my orders delivered by FedEx (iPad 3, past laptops, etc.)

A two business day delay isn't that bad. I realize I get stuck having to wait the weekend but that's how it goes.

Turns out the automated messaging system was wrong and my system never shipped out on 7/18 and I will NOT receive it today. What a mess their order status system is. I called and they said the label was about to be put on it and should be shipping soon.

 

So my order was delayed from 7/20 to 7/26, I got ahold of my rep yesterday and he said the sales specialist noted it was on a plane and there was nothing wrong with my order. I called back awhile later to see if he could look into more as my status online wasn't updated and he said he couldn't find anything on why it was delayed and his computer was only showing him an EDD of 7/26 as well. I expressed my disappointment and he was awesome enough to upgrade my two day shipping to next day.

About an hour ago my order went into shipped!! Yay, no tracking info but I'll be a puppy in the window till it shows up

I wish they would at least UPDATE my order status. It still says 7/20 EDD and 'in production' when its CLEARLY not anymore according to the rep. Ive never had this much trouble with an online order in my life. I am dissapoint.

I know there was a question a few days ago about where the orders shipped from en route to the customer. My order was just picked up in Nashville, Tennessee.

 

I just called fedex to see if I could pick up my order instead of waiting till Monday, its in Hawthorne, CA so not too far from me. The lady on the phone told that the package was going to be shipped to Nashville, Tennessee as that's the processing plant for all fedex shipments, then back to CA. Totally flawed system lol.

 

I just called Dell to see if my order might have shipped today and was told that my EDD has been delayed until AUGUST 27TH!!!! What part could push my EDD back over a month? The website still shows me as In Production with an EDD of 7/23 so I'm hoping that the dept. I talked to is out to lunch. Him and his manager assigned me a case manager, and also promised to expedite (anyone heard that before) and also offered me a whole $50 coupon for my inconvenience.

My EDD is still 7/27, I guess I'll know Monday since that is my current ship date. Are you in the US?

 

My status changed to shipped today!!! Aww yeah!! Sorry 'Nuck fan about your inconvenience, that sucks. Damn near cancel and reorder and will get it quicker. I ordered July 6, EDD July 23.

 

Out of curiosity, did you get an engraved plate? And what color did you choose, red or black?

I ordered mine almost two full weeks before you and my order got delayed, and still hasn't shipped, and they're more or less the same.

 

Seems like people with 680m's are getting delayed glad I didn't have the money for it

I'm in Canada and now that I got to have my rant, I am still keeping the faith. Seen so many quotes on here where guys were told that the order was delayed then had it arrive a few days later. Also the delay they told me is way out of line with any other examples I have seen. Pretty sure I was talking to the same office that told me the max discount I could get on my system was $65! I may just be in denial but even a Canucks fan only has so much patience!
