    I didn't get an engraved nameplate, can't in Canada I guess. Ordered it with the black finish.
    I just realized Dell has my address wrong!! My rep screwed that up!! NOO :mad:

    I'm in Fullerton, Ca... Mine was also in Hawthorn and now I see that it left Torrance, ca. I can't imagine that they would ship east then west again, but say they bring it to Anaheim tomorrow, is it possible I could pick it up tomorrow? Does FedEx allow that, before a delivery attempt?

    Couldn't wait so I called FedEx and asked about a sat pickup, she out me on hold for 2 min, and told me that the Monday deliveries are in a container that will not be opened until Monday. So I gotta wait, could have been playin all weekend.

    Well at least the family will get one last weekend with dad for a while.

    My computer was "in production" from my order date (July 6) till today when it changed to "shipped".

    I called again as well and was told that mine had left Torrance, CA and was headed to San Luis Obispo (where I am). She said it would be up to the local FedEx Epress to allow me for Saturday pickup, hope I can!

    I don't think the pallet not being allowed open is real, I would call again but maybe your local store and see if you can.

    Just received an e-mail from "dell.delivery.update" with the UPS tracking code that is not active just yet. Dell indicates that the planned delivery date is 7/23, that's indeed next Monday.

    Just to update everyone on my timeline:

    Ordered 7/6, EDD 7/20
    7/20 came, phone status said Shipped but online status said "in production"
    called rep to confirm one or the other, they said it hasnt shipped, sticker was put on it, will ship this weekend or monday (there was a slight delay)
    I keep checking my order status online up to 4am today (or yesterday) and still 'in production"
    wake up this morning and Fedex is at my door with my laptop, sign for it.
    look at the order status page again and it says 'delayed til 7/24' but also has 'shipped' next to it.

    First of all, what a mess, secondly, the order status pages are broken.

    Been lurking prior to ordering my Alienware on 07/09. My order shipped yesterday with an estimated delivery date of Tuesday. Ordered 2 laptops (wife and for myself) which includes Black cases + 7970 + 500gb & 32Gb cache + 1080p screen.

    About applying the 15% discount, I tried the chat system and the rep would only offer me a $200 discount and if I wanted it I would have to cancel. I left the chat as she wouldn't give me a reason.

    I then called Dell and after talking to their sale's staff I was then transferred to a sales specialist. I was asking about the discount and he gave me two options.

    1) Cancel your order and reorder it - Also, looking at the details it looks like it is about to ship.

    2) Take a $375 discount and leave it like it is. (Order was around $4000, so it would of been around $600)

    Sadly, I couldn't wait another few weeks so I just took the $375. ;p

    About contacting Dell, be sure you can directly lead them to the special and understand how it works!

    How did you get it dropped off on a Saturday? I thought that FedEx only did next business day on Saturdays if you paid a premium for the "Priority" overnight.

    I think because this is considered "Fedex Home service" which is different than normal service.

    They will deliver on Saturdays if you pay for the premium expedited services (not just overnight) but I did not know that it was a possibility from Dell.

    Dell might pay for Saturday delivery if they delay your order, who knows. I was surprised as hell when I saw that small fedex van in front of my apartment.

    Update since mine has shipped: 3720\680\3D\Killer\USA
    Ordered 7\11 with an EDD 7\27 and 7 day shipping, estimated ship date was 7\23
    Shipped on 7\20 and order status updated on 7\21, Fedex says it will be here on 7\24 going from California up to Oregon

    tldr; 7 business days from order to ship, 9 days total

    Looks like you have pretty much identical setup as me so I am thinking that my supposed delay due to parts is smelling more and more like BS. Sure hope I see my system this week since my order was six days ahead of yours with NBD shipping.

    I was told early on Friday that my order was in the 'final stages of production' and would be shipped within 5 business days.

    So hopefully early this upcoming week. We'll see!

    Yeah, they told me it should take 7-10 full business days to complete a customized Alienware. Average build time for stock is 3-5. I was informed about this by a rep. Any longer there are delays going on, or maybe an order was prioritized and jumped ahead (imo), or just are selecting random orders and the other people who ordered first are screwed.

    I was able to figure out which Fedex location my package would be and went there and asked if I would be able to pick up and not wait till Monday, the lady said she was the only one there and she would call me back if there was anything she could do. An hour later I get a call back from a gentleman who went to the back of the loading truck and retrieved my package, So stoked to have it early...right?

    I get to the infamous part that everyone knows from the unboxing videos of the laptop in the foam, First thing I notice is the battery wasnt locked and was loose trapped by the cloth casing it comes it. Whatever, I pull it out of the cloth casing, attach the battery and of course notice all the scratches along the bottom of the laptop :confused: :mad:. So I power it on and start to look at all the lights, go to checkout the awesome Alienhead on the lid and what do you know there is a giant and I mean giant incredible noticeable dead pixel smack dead in the middle of one of the Aliens eyes... are you serious!? Ok so I am pretty upset now and start to look all over, and of course that wasnt it, on the bottom right of the laptop, right above the speaker but below the intel/windows stickers is where two plastic shells meet, well the inner shell (one where your palms rest) the corner is noticeable dented (raised and discolored) it appears as if someone had dropped that part and crumpled it and thought it would be ok just to assemble it like that. Quality control?

    Im done ranting, one would think that a 2-3 week build period they would catch things like this, so please check over your systems when they arrive. I will have to deal with Dell tomorrow and hopefully get a replacement :mad:

    Sorry to hear about the Q/C issues. Mine is in the same batch as yours so we'll see. Was your FedEx box in torrance? I was thinking the same thing, but how did you get the number to the fedex location? I doubt they'll be around tomorrow.

    Let us know how your call goes with dell on this.

    I hope so too. Yea it was Hawthorn than to Torrance. Never got the number to the Fedex location but I live in Los Osos so I assumed the only dispatch location would be the Fedex Express in SLO and I was correct.

    Mine went from "in progress" to "under production" today, July 22nd.

    M17x w/ 7970M, 8gigs of ram, FHD 1920x1080, everything else stock.

    Was ordered on the 13th and EDD is still 27th of July. Curious if they are able to pull that off.

    I have a feeling that this was caused by the people shipping it and not by Dell. I have had similar things happen in the past and in a few cases the shipping company would be completely honest that they dropped if I asked them what happened.

    Blake, that really sucks dude! i'm very sorry to hear that. they should give you some upgrades or send you a system with no charge while you have yours. that's truly messed up.

    I don't feel it was shipping.

    - If the battery is installed correctly it locks in super solid, it would have had to endure a pretty significant drop or such to dislodge it.
    - FedEx couldn't have caused a dead pixel in the alien head :p
    - The crumpled case part is on the right palm rest where it meets the bottom case shell, looks like the damage was there prior to assembly or during the process.

    Who should I call regarding this, I called my Rep but he's not in today, should I talk to someone else about this? Thanks.

    I've only ordered Monday and I'm getting sick of "in production stage". update us on SOMETHING. I call and they get pissed off, this was my second time calling and they go if we expedite your order, will you not call back again? I thought that was really rude.

    I'm the most annoying person in the world. Especially when I'm trying to get a deal.

    I think I emailed my rep back and forth for a week arguing over prices. I was NEVER spoken to like that (even though I'm sure he wanted to tell me to go f##k myself at certain points).

    He was the manager of the department. I already submitted a complaint and got his name down. @Eldaren that's amazing news. Congrats on your new computer! Wish I could have gotten a better graphics card, but oh well. It should do as I don't play many crazy games anyway. It should play my games fine on the 660m on at least high settings and at 20-30fps on most games.

    Not that it in any way excuses saying that to a customer, but as commentary I'd imagine they're probably putting up with a very high volume of angry customer calls at the moment. I emailed my rep and asked him to call me - the first words out of his mouth were, "So I assume you're calling about the delays, huh?"

    Yeah. Called twice, that's word by word what he said to me. I got an email saying it shipped and was for delivery July 24th, but it got delayed till the 1st again. they got upset cause I called and asked again, and sounded annoyed saying (Oh i see you contacted support yesterday, I thought your issues were resolved?"

    Oh waow.

    I woke up this morning to see "Order Shipped" on my Order Status page.

    Ordered 7/16 -> Shipped 7/23. It's already on the ground in the U.S. apparently. So happy.

    Edit: The details are incredibly vague though. Doesn't show where it came from, just that it's on U.S.A. GROUND LINEHAUL somewhere. Sounds like it's traveling hobo style on a 1930s boxcar with a little bindle.

    Fair enough. You can't have everything.

    i ordered on the 04/07 .. got in progress on 14/07.. and iam "in progress" still...... i called and they still say that some parts are missing
