    Curious about his order too. Then again, both of my orders placed with Dell Norway took 7 days+ to update from "in progress" to "in production". Hoping my order is on schedule although 6 days for both production and shipping/delivery seems a bit tight.

    If you're shipping within the US (don't know about to other countries) NBD is usually free for the asking. It's something that costs them very little in the scheme of things, and helps placate either an angry customer, or someone trying to haggle.

    Who knows? Ordered 6/26 with EDD of 7/19 - but was assured that it wouldn't take more than two weeks by my rep. Two weeks come and go and a few emails get me nowhere other than 'it's in production and still looking good for 7/19'. 7/19 rolls around and at 4 in the morning I get a Delayed email, telling me my order has been delayed until 7/25. All they've been able to tell me since then is that it's 'showing complete and is somewhere on its way to their shipping facilities' - probably sitting on a pallet with a handful of other delayed orders, waiting to be sent out.

    im pretty sure people know my ordeal, ordered on June 21, got an original edd of July 20, then delayed till July 26. The case specialist on my case said that "it is on the line to be tested for quality assurance, and should ship out Monday" Thats what I was told in friday, and today it is still "In-Production".

    I really have no idea when this laptop will arrive at this point. seriouslly one whole month to build a laptop, this is just insane.

    I guess I shouldn't complain so much since your guy's orders were placed even earlier than mine. I'm amazed that you are actually able to get anything specific out of your contacts. My new case specialist called me today and was able to bring me right up to date: it's In Production! Wow, thanks a lot!

    My major gripe isn't that there's been a delay - that kind of stuff happens. It's unavoidable. What bothers me is that people with almost identical systems to mine have been getting theirs for almost a week and a half now, despite having ordered a week or more after I did.

    RTA I called and complained several times. I got an email saying it was shipping the 24th, then it got delayed till the 1st. I basically called and said if you don't ship my order out this week, I will return it when it arrives. Maybe you should do that, call them now while they're still open :)

    Mine is at home. I'm a little nervous though. Apparently I'm down grading my LED from my current XPS r+gb led display to the full hd on the alienware. I've never seen one, but I hear that some people are disappointed when comparing. And say its very reflective compared to other notebook displays.
    I guess I'll see tonight.

    I hope I'm wrong.

    I checked the tracking # on the FedEx site and it says " initiated. Anticipated ship date July 18"

    Still waiting on mine to be delivered. Got an email from Dell today saying should be at my place on or before july 26. Twenty days between order and delivery... I've been debating this purchase for a much longer time than that, so im cool with it. This laptop is going to be unreal!

    Well I got the laptop today. And with sadness and disbelief I have decided to return it. Guess what, dell charges a 15% restocking fee. All this waiting, energy and time and I have to unload it. :mad:

    My wife and I agreed that I can purchase something at $1000 less, which puts me into the $1,200 ball park. I'm thinking i'll keep my XPS 15 and go with a desktop. Anyway It's been a wild ride, I hope you all get your systems in due time without much hassle.

    I will make another attempt to call a supervisor at dell tomorrow, however I feel from what I have read, I will be stuck with the restocking fee, so I have posted the system here in NBR. Here is the link if you or your friend is interested.

    Well now I don't have an EDD at all, the order status page just says In Production with my order date. ;)

    But my sales rep informs me that he is on it, it's just a shortage on one of the parts. Dell is going to have a shortage of an order if they don't figure this out soon.

    Mine arrived yesterday 07/23, Order date 07/11, EDD 07/27. Feel free to update the list I've posted here a few times.

    I had the XPS17 (L702X) recently for a few days and the touchpad was horrible, as was the fan, kicking in very loud at times, for no obvious reason, as the usage was light at those times. Both were commonly known problems for this model, and despite several bios updates still not fixed. I am happy to say the M17x R4 does not suffer from these problems and I'm really impressed with the fans, they are not loud at light to moderate usage, only when using all 8 threads at 100% the proc fan will be hard to ignore, yet still not overly loud, as in that you don't need to raise your voice when talking to someone. Did not test the 680m at max yet. It's also extremely sturdy, much more so than the XPS17, the m17x is also 1kg (2 pounds) heavier, well you can't have everything.

    By the way, this thing is a nightmare to service yourself. I spend more than 4 hours installing the stuff listed in my signature. Well, either that, or I am just a clumsy idiot ;-) If you have plans to install an mSata or other optical drive, then be prepared to rip the whole thing apart, literally. The mSata and optical drive are under the palm rest. And to remove that sucker, you need to remove even the screen, yes, the screen! Luckily all went well, and Dell provides detailed instructions in the owner manual, on the web site.

    Are there any after market fixes for the extremely reflective screen? A coating, some 'screen protector'?

    Mine was shipped sometime today as well. (M17x black with 7970m, 8 gigs of ram and FHD 1920 display)

    Order date 13th of July.
    EDD 27th of July
    Shipped sometime today (24th) which should make the EDD even with standard shipment (UPS)

    Didn't expect this after reading about all the delays. Then again people are more likely to post if they experience problems or delays. Hope the unit is healthy and working well out of the box.
