Thanks, well I have had an interesting turn of events. Dell are saying that they have my payment yet the money is in my account. o0

I email my contact wondering why my account hasn't been debited and he replied:

    "Thank you for your email.

The order was rebooked on the same funds we had before.

Hence you do not see any charge now.

Just for your information I have requested factory for prioritize this."

    Strange right?

I had same issue with that also..When I ordered, I was able to see at Dell has debt exact amount on my credit card, but, after couple days, that dell's debt was gone.Nothing.Like I never ordered anything from dell.
Contacted my rep and wroted email to him, and asked him about that.He wroted back at everhtying si fine witth my bank, payment etc..strange..
Even, now, I dont ahve any kind of notice about dell's transfer.I hope, they will debit my card and transfer the money when my unit is ready for shipping.

Guys they will only check if you have funds in your account when you place your order, after the machine has been built and dispatched will your card actually be charged, it's in their FAQS bit of the website, don't worry it's normal for it to be like that.

Isn't that little bit strange. After they checked my account and dont make any transfer, after that I can spend money, and when they actually want to transfer money, then what? :D
Probably, they will cancel order right?

I thinn they will have taken the funds ( they won't e available) but your balance won't e deducted until its despatched, so you won't have the value of the computer to spend on your account I thibk anyways.

Funds are available, 2k in account 2k available.

Last time my order was in Pre-production the money was not in my account.

Also please read the wording and the post again. The Dell agent is saying that they have my money thats what this order is being funded by, yet the money was returned to my account on the day this order was cancelled by them.

I checked the dell website, it says

When will my credit card be charged?
A As soon as you submit your order we will contact your credit card company to get approval for payment but you will not be charged.

We’ll then go ahead and begin processing your order.

Once your order has been sent for delivery your credit card will be charged for the total amount.

link is here Dell - When will my credit card be charged?

    i hope that helps.

OK.... not sure on how to make this any clearer, so I shall use a bigger font.

The money for my first order was taken from my account when it was in PRE PRODUCTION like my current order is now. So not showing £1500 and £0 Available. Actual balance was £0

They Cancelled the order and refunded me the money. This means my Balance went from £0 to £1500

They replaced the order and the order is now in PRE PRODUCTION and the money is still in my account.

I contacted Dell and there service agent told me "The order was rebooked on the same funds we had before."

They no longer have my funds as they are in my account. If I have to get screenshots of my account statement showing the money going out and back in again I will...

I know what you are trying to tell me but I never used a credit card. I used a Debit card, The Difference is the money is coming out of my bank.

Sorry didnt pay atttention to the thread very well.

BTW the same applies whether it is a credit or debit card I think.

OK so checked my bank account ( i used my debit card as well), I am still in pre produciton stage, my 'available balance' is still the same at the moment (as in it hasn't been deducted by the amount of the laptop), it was deducted by the computer amount when the order was processing and 1-2 days into the pre produciton stage. My 'account balance' during this has been the same. Which I think means the payment has not cleared yet.

Are you talking about the available balance or your account balance?

I have only had the full order experience from dell on another computer i bought, they did not take my money from my account (as in current account and available balance were deducted) when the order leaves china. BUT my 'available balance' was deducted for the first few days of the order, but it returned to normal and was finally deducted when it was dispatched.

Right I see, yes I was talking about available balance, so currently my available balance amount is the same as my balance.

Well before the order was canceled the order was in pre production and I didn't have the money in my account dell had fully charged me and the money was not showing in my account at all, my
statement shows this. On this new order the status is pre production an the money in my accounts available balance.

Hmm weird, just as long as you havent been charged twice i suppose, just watch out they might charge you later on, as ive heard they tend to takes ages to refund your money, but it might be different if your order had not been sent yet.

I wouldnt worry too much, as your order status is on pre production so they have already validated your payment, they should not take any money, what I am worried about is that there was mark on your statement, was there a charge and refund within the same day?

If it is then the refund should be ok, I had this issue with tesco before and they charged and refunded at the same time. (item was mispriced).

    Hello everyone ~

I ordered my alienware m17x on the 02/10/2012 , i got a confirmation email from them with EDD 26/10/2012.
Today it is 22/10/2012, guess what? My laptop is still in Pre-production.Yeah !!

I called Dell and the guy on the phone told me that there are some components out of stock and they can't tell me anything.

I mean that is just great!!! They lie to you that it will only take 5~10 working days, mine takes 3 weeks to get from order received to pre - production.

I ordered mine on the 10th Oct and it went into 'Work in Progress' status on the 11th. It hasn't changed since.

I am wondering if my build is needing parts as well as I wouldn't think it would take this long to be built? or am I just being impatient?

There is a stock problem, Dell is selling alienware computer without having anything in their storage , so they hv to order the parts from else where and it takes a lot of time.

It happens to me as well, i ordered on the 2/10/2012 and it is still in pre- production

I got a call from Dell today. (I ordered on 10/17/2012.) They said everything was going well and they hoped to have it to me before 11/09/2012, my EDD, if possible. I'd say that was great customer service.

Thanks for sharing the infor Pot Of Jam :)

Still in pre production, but I am not too worried, still got ages until my EDD. Btw if you order a machine now on the website it knows there will be a delay in getting them sent out, i think the estimated ship date is the 11th of nov for orders now.

It depends I guess, are you in the pre-production or in-production phase of order status?
Personaly I guess it would take 3-5 working days to get built and 3-5 days to be shipped. But thats just a guess, having bought a machine from dell outlet before I know the shipping shouldn't take too long. 2-3 days to get from china to here and i guess around 2 days to be delivered once it reaches the UK, but I see your from the US, but it shouldn't be much different.

If it is in pre production there is some part which is holding up production. Last i heard it was the casing and base of the computer, but there are so many variations I don't know what is holding it all up.

Mines the 6th and I ordered a day before you, must be a generic number of days. Still in pre production, not too worried yet.

I'd call up and ask, they should be able to find out what approximate stage it is at. I guess it should be finished the production stage soon if its going to make it on the EDD.

You can also chat online if you can't phone them.

Ordered my M17x R4 on the 2nd of october and a few phonecalls and random info (low stock transport from korea and kazakstan..ect) and finally today on the 23rd its gone into production. EDD is the 26th of october so will probably get it this week with luck, or next week. Anyone know how long production usually takes? apparently it needs testing for 24 hours

    Lucky you :)))
I sent a letter to my rep, and asked him about shortage on cpu, manin case etc ..and he answered today with this:

"Yes, that is true. We are working really hard to solve this matter. When you get your computer I think you are in title of some compensation.
Please e-mail me or phone me when you have received the computer."

Dont know wich kind of compesation...Dont think so it would be upgrade on my system or laptop.

What I don't understand is that I ordered mine on the 18th this month. However, I have been in production since the 18th. Also, keep in mind I had to re order twice before cuz of dell kept canceling or various "reasons". So when I ordered last I let them know how I was currently feeling about their corporation though so that may have influenced it. But I can hardly believe that.

I am not complaining by no means I just find it a little strange. I am even wondering if my laptop is even in production to be honest lol.

Seems like people ordering early october are going into production stage.

I ordered the 15th and I'm still on 'pre-production' not even in the 'in production' phase yet. I think a few of us ordered mid october and we are all still waiting to go to 'in production'.

how does this work for people (like me) who ordered on the 5th of October, had there order canceled due to dell negligence in the order process then had there order re-booked 10-15 days later.

Surely my order that was placed on the 5th should be up there with these guys but mine is still in pre-production.

kinda annoyed at how dell has dealt with this.

I guess you were put to the back of the queue when you had to put another order in. Not fair I guess since its there fault, should of got some sort of compensation or something for free since it wasnt your fault. Just wait, worth the wait for such a good machine, better than off the shelf stuff.

Wow your order is going through fast in production or pre production as they are not the same?
    Where you ordered for?
and wow that is a long EDD date! I knew they had supply issues didnt know the wait was so long.

I ordered from the US. I wonder if my rep somehow got the order expedited because we played phone tag for about a week before actually ordering today. I went online to verify that my order looked okay and saw that it had already went into production. It sounds good at least but it doesn't really matter if I'm a month away from receiving the laptop. =)

Honestly don't know, depends on your situation I guess, if the EDD was moved further back then I've read cases where people how been giving a discount for having to wait longer, depends on your situation I guess. I wouldn't be too worried unless its close to your EDD and it still hasn't been dispatched. See how it goes, I'll keep this thread up to date with my own experience.

So what do y'all think? If I went into production immediately after buying, do y'all think I am actually in production or that they just want to please customers so dell just made it that way which in reality it's in pre production

Lol I am just so ready to own this beast for I have wanted an AW since I was sixteen so 7 years wait was already bad enough. But knowing its getting built and my hands aren't touching it is killing me lol

    Thanks for the update!

Just to let you know it should take around 5 days to be delivered. Takes a few days to come from china and UK Mail will deliver it when it arrives in the UK. You should be able to track it when it arrives in the UK through UK mail otherwise they won't know much about the order until the day before its supposed to be delivered pretty much.
