Cool, keep me updated if your status changes and I'll do the same. I did next day delivery. I'm guess by your 3/4 EDD you did 2nd day?
-
I think the best way to make the wait shorter is to try and think of something else, otherwise you'll feel like it's taking forever and all the setbacks in the world will work together to make your laptop get there slower.
On the other hand I know how awful it can be to wait for something you want that bad, and so if you'd like me to look for more detailed info on your orders just send me a PM and I'll see what I can get. -
Yep, I'll keep you updated.
And, I don't quite remember being given a shipping choice...could be that the Canadian site doesn't give the option or I just happened to skip over it by accident. So I assume I have the default shipping option. -

You need more than 5 posts before you're able to send a PM. You can either post a couple of times or send us an email at [email protected] with your order number and my name in the subject

Hard to tell from reading the previous responses as there doesn't seem to have been many posts lately, but I'm wondering what the turn around has been recently? Faster or Longer than original estimated delivery dates? I placed an order two days ago (27th) and my EDD is 3/12 (next business day delivery). Ordered an m17x R4 black with 680m.
-
FWIW, Black M17x with 680M, 16 gig memory, 750 GB HD with 64GB mSata cache drive, non-3D screen. -

For example, on Wednesday the 27th of Feb I got an e-mail saying my order shipped with next day shipping. That day when I called into the phone system it said my order shipped on Feb 28th (a day in the future), the CS reps told me it was "in the final stages and will ship at any moment" and the online system said it was still In Production.
Today the online system still says In Production, phone system says it shipped yesterday and the CS reps I've spoke with have told me it is "still in the final stages and will ship any moment".
I guess I'm just frustrated how every system Dell has is reporting a different status and who knows if it actually shipped or if it has even been built yet or not.
At this point I have no clue as to when I'll get my laptop. -
Thanks!I am a techie, but I'm a little scared to open it up and play with the components under the hood. In my younger days, I would've torn it apart and put it back together again for giggles.
I probably will upgrade the harddrives to SSD's. I'll order them and have them installed. It's just such an expensive system, I don't want to mess it up. -
I ordered my system with next business day shipping, checked this morning and noticed it was sent out with 2nd day delivery. This is very aggravating and I am very upset.
-
-
Well, after getting an email that my system had been delayed from the 6th to the 8th, I just looked online and it is now back to the 6th, and showing as being shipped. It was supposed to go 2nd Day, and looks like it did.
Edit: And Fedex tracking shows it showing up even faster than the Dell EDD, with a delivery date of Tuesday, the 5th. Of course - I'm leaving on a business trip on the 5th and won't be home until around midnight on the 6th, argh! -
Everyone's systems are getting shipped out but mine still says in production on the website with an EDD of the 4th when I've been told it's been delayed until the 8th...why Dell why?
But congrats to those of you who will be getting your laptops soon! Enjoy the beasts -
So don't worry about a couple days haha -
-
-
Could be the Canadian thing. Eh.
-
Just got news that my laptop is shipped and is currently in transit in the U.S making it's way to me!
Can't wait!
Note for future buyers. Never trust the order status on the site, it never seems to update. Call customer service instead, they're pretty helpful. -
-
Had an estimated shipping date of 3/12/13 as of last night. Just checked now and it's apparently just a few miles away from my apartment!
-
-
I ordered mine on Feb 25th with an original delivery date of Mar 11th.
I got the call from FedEx this morning; it will be here by 3PM tomorrow, a full 5 days early!!!
Clear my calendar for tomorrow! -

So I need some help.
I called Dell to ask about order status and they told me that my order was in "Facilities Planning". I have NO IDEA what that is. Does anyone have any insight? It doesn't show as one of the 5 "in production" stages... however, it shows online as being "in production" with a delivery date on/before 3/14. I ordered on 2/27/13. Thanks! -
Does anyone know what "facilities planning" means in DellSpeak?
-
This thread might help?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-shipping-order-status-customer-service-issues/156489-dell-laptop-order-stages-wiki.html
Sounds like its being planned to be built/assembled. Could be held up due to parts but doesnt sound like it. Your 'in production' and US in production stage from what I've seen actually can mean 'pre production' doesn't sound like any parts are on backorder. You should get it well within the EDD, maybe a few days early.
I wouldn't worry until 3-5 days before EDD it hasn't shipped tbh.
I got mine 2-3 days before the EDD. -
Thank yoiu DDDenniZZZ
I'm not too worried about it as it is still showing "in production" and my EDD is a week and a half in the future, but I was just wondering if anyone else has had that stage or what it really means? Could I have picked some incompatible parts?
What would they have to plan?
Thanks for the link. I have seen that link before, but none of those aforementioned stages match what I was told. -
Just got an email from a Dell Rep justnow that said all they could tell me was this was still in the initial stages of production...
-
Hi everyone! :hi2:
I'm new to the site (very first post!)
I ordered my m17x on Tuesday (5th) and my EDD is the 20th (March)
It's my very first AW computer.
It's only been a few days but... after reading some of the posts, I can't wait for my laptop to arrive! Hopefully it arrives earlier than that.
My specs are:
3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz
17.3-inch WideFHD1920 x 1080 60Hz WLED
2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 7970M
256GB Solid State Drive SATA 6Gb/s
Intel 2230 Wireless-N
And it's stealth black
What do you guys think? I mainly play the sims and can't wait to be able to play sim city as well! -
Welcome!
I can tell you that you have made a great purchase. Your AW computer will last quite a long time if treated properly! If the time comes and you want to get a new computer, I would recommend simply updating your components. These lappys are built to last and to compete with the top competition for years to come.
-
Okay, so maybe a step needs to be added to the "Stages of In Production" Wiki.
I was just told by a phone rep that : "Facilities Planning" means they are waiting on parts to come in.
Today, my lappy entered the kitting stage. So, that's golden with me, as long as it's out of "facilities planning." (And why the first rep wouldn't tell me that they were simply waiting on parts is beyond me. That's an understandable thing...).
Ah, well. EDD is still a week away. -
I ordered 2/27 with a estimated SHIP date of 3/11 (EDD 3/12 with next business day). I got an email yesterday saying it was shipped. Excitedly I started hitting refresh ever since on the order status page looking for a tracking number. Never showed up so I called. Was informed, "sorry for the mis-information but it hasn't shipped yet." Terrible. Still "in production" as of this post.
-
So this weekend I called the order confirmation line. On 3/9 (Saturday) the recording said that my laptop "shipped on 3/11". lol. Called today and verified on the order status line that it shipped today!
No tracking # is available yet, but it's second business day, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow!
Whoo hoo!
(I'm crossing my fingers that they shipped it on Saturday, truly. haha. )
-
Just wanted to see if you got a tracking number yet? My m18x r2 is supposed to be here tommrow but has not shipped yet .. EDD of tommrow listed in production still...
-
Same thing with me nycro. I got on email last Thursday saying it shipped but never got a tracking number and never showed up. Called again today and they weren't sure what was going on. Still says in production with EDD tomorrow. They saw it was in the final stages of production since last Wednesday and couldn't figure out why there was no tracking number. They said they were sending a message to "logistics" to figure out what was going on. Boo.
-
When I call the 1-800 # it says my order was shipped yesterday. There is no confirmation # given. Online it still says "in production" with an EDD of 3/14. I ordered early morning on 2/27/13. I'm hoping that the computer and tracking number will both show up today. I have 2nd business day delivery.
-
-
Excellent Syntax! You should have it in your hands soon!
-
Ordered mine on Friday. So not sure how long it will take but it has an estimated 3/22/2013 delivery date.
-
Hey Niz!
Depends on supply and demand. Some people have had theirs delivered in a little over a week. Some unlucky people, like myself, have had a delay due to waiting on parts to arrive. Mine will arrive sometime between today-Thursday. My EDD is Thursday on the website. (But I'm crossing my phalanges that it will be today!)
Either way, excellent choice. -
